Latin Americans have always looked up to the United States as the land of opportunity. As such when US immigration policy was relaxed it created several waves of immigrants heading north. Thousands of migrants from many different parts of the world have passed through Panama and Costa Rica on their way to the United States. Recently the US government banned Venezuelans from entering the United States and as a result many have been stuck in Panama and Costa Rica figuring out how to get back to Venezuela. The influx of migrants to Costa Rica and Panama have financial and social effects they they are not as capable financially to handle compared to the United States. Leaders and politicians in Latin America are also to blame as decades of mismanagement and corruption has meant the lack of economic opportunities which in turn stimulates mass migration to the United States.

Just another mess created by the lack of a clear cut ENFORCEMENT of the current immigration policy in US. As an American living in this wonderful country of CR, I plan on following all the current policies as dictated by this host country. With an open border policy as instituted by our current party in power in USA, it becomes grossly unfair to other countries, not just those living in the border states in America. Thanks Roger for opening my eyes to the plight of other countries that suffer by this lack of enforcement in my home country. Your videos are unbiased and extremely informative.

Thank you for watching and your comments which are spot on that what is needed are clear cut rules and enforcement so that everybody can plan accordingly and for smaller countries not be caught off guard with situations like the current one.

Thanks for the video. As Canada is looking to increase its immigration numbers, perhaps suggesting these migrants start looking a little further north would be appropriate

The failed policies in the US are definitely hurting countries in Latin America. Needless to say, Costa Rica and other nations need to toughen up on immigration and stop being doormats for corrupt politicians. As a native Costa Rican living in the US, Costa Rica needs to take a similar approach to what the Nicaraguan government is doing. At some point, the kid groves need to come off or Costa Rica will be facing another large wave of illegal permanent foreigners, both good and bad, making our small nation their home.

CR taking huge chance by just letting in migrants. What happen QOL if those migrants never leave?

Costa Rica does not have the financial resources to house them or feed them so they tend to continue to move north.

If the hispanics make it to south florida, they can achieve a better life. the only thing is the cost of real estate. US always give my ppl a hard time when it comes to immigration

Thank you for watching. Very good point. The cost of real estate is becoming less accessible due to the high cost and a big part of the paycheck would go to cover housing. I also found the cost of health insurance to be very expensive as well.
