In germany, we have a small party called "the party". It's complete satire, basically poking fun of everything. Martin Sonneborn, founder, once showed up in a Stauffenberg-costume (Soldier who tried to assassinate Hitler with a bomb) when another politician from a far-right party presented his new book to the public. The guy is sitting in the EU-parliment for the second time now, gaining more and more votes every time. It's because of him, the EU tried to implement a 5% restriction several times now. They failed every time. Most fun thing is, apart from him trolling around alot, he is incredibly intelligent and actually has quite some nice ideas. He calls out corruption among the EU, or how they waste money, or how their legislative work sometimes is flawed beyond redemption. Or how they move thorugh grey areas of the law to deliver weapons and tanks into warzones. He often gets called a jester, along with the lines: At court, only the jester is allowed to speak the truth.

Sonneborn is no opportunistic far-right fear mongerer, but a left-leaning satirist who criticises the current form of the EU, not the idea of it. And rightly so. I met Vermin Supreme in person at a convention in Orlando. He spoke passionately about his interest in utilizing zombies as a renewable energy source. Also asked me if I wanted a rat he had in his pocket. I happily received a large plastic rat from his pocket along with a button for his political campaign.

I lived down the street from Saint Anselm’s College when Vermin Supreme attended that event. I was in HS at the time, in Manchester, NH. I remember like the day after Vermin Supreme pulled that stunt, my Social Studies teacher showed us the clip and he was actually all about it. That was 7+ years ago, haven’t thought about Vermin Supreme since. Thanks for the deep dive wavy! Still live in Manchester to this day, I’ll be sure to remain diligent on the 2020 Vermin Supreme watch.
