The fact that anyone demanded he reveal the name of the child or the hospital was actually infuriating to me. That’s not any indication that he was lying, it’s just no one’s fucking business. I agree. His lack of embellishing really speaks his truth for him. Liars talk more because they have more bases to cover and plot-points to remember. That's what gets me. When people are making up a story, they add details because instead of reliving a memory, they are creating something using their imagination. Memories aren't detailed, especially for traumatic memories. In case people want to say they remember details from a traumatic event, yes, it's possible to remember district things however minor details are usually faded, and when someone is telling a fictional story they add those minor and often unimportant details.

I've seen follow up interviews, they all seem remarkably well adjusted and are getting the help they need. Michelle (now Lilly Rose) is happily married, Amanda works for a TV station raising awareness for missing kids, and Gina councils victims and works with the police. They all run non profit charities to help kidnap and trafficking victims. They all seem like amazing women.

I literally just watched a video, not an hour ago, where a female police officer approached a man sleeping in his vehicle on private property and once she woke him up the interaction started as normal as could be; not long into the interaction the subject held up a piece of paper for her to inspect and then abruptly put a pistol in her face. She's seen struggling with him and screaming in the video, "no! No! No! No! Please don't shoot me!" A second officer had been en route to her location for backup and when he heard some detail over the radio that sounded fishy (something about the vehicle info not coming back right, I think), he started speeding toward her location, which he was initially struggling to find, and he arrived and ran up as she was wrestling with the suspect through the window of his vehicle as he pulled a second gun. She was busy trying to point his first weapon down, away from her, fighting for her life, and couldn't get to her weapon. The second officer approached right about the time the second gun was produced and shot through the windshield, fatally injuring the man, dispatching the threat. It turned out he'd been on a meth bender; killed someone; then kidnapped his own family members and forced them to help hide the body. Then he fled the state and was actively being searched for, though this incident happened several states away.

We have HIPAA laws in the US that prevent healthcare staff from confirming or denying the event happened at their hospital. That's why they all denied it happening at their facility.

They didn't even need to say anything about calling hospitals and putting doubt on the sweet man's story, If you can't verify a story don't bloody print it. It's not that hard! I hope most people are aware that a hospital will never disclose patient information. I saw him in person one time at a Bone Thugs N Harmony concert in Milwaukee that I went to back in 2013. This happened not too long after that story was in the news. If you know anything about Bone Thugs, you know they are from Cleveland and have always repped their neighborhood heavily throughout their career. When this story hit the news, they were shouting him out because they actually knew him back in the day and are from the same area in Cleveland and they were proud of him. When I saw them in 2013 not long after the story came out, he was actually there at the venue with Bone. At one point during the show, they brought him out on stage and announced to the crowd that he is the guy who saved those 3 girls who got kidnapped and just kinda highlighted how heroic his actions were. Everybody started cheering, and as he stood there on stage, you could tell he was getting emotional. It was a pretty touching moment.

He's such an awesome guy.

i actually did, i was driving down a high way in the middle of no where in the desert and there was only a bit of sunlight left. i was with my twin and step father when i saw alot of smoke a bit off in the distance. there wasnt much people on the roads. there was small houses dotted far from each other on very small dirt roads so i said we should check it out. when we got close my adrenaline kicked in. it was a pretty big wild fire that was burning through the dry yellow tall grass that was more like hay and started to burn the back of this house, even worse, it started to melt the paint off of a 100 gallon propane tank installed for the house. my father was the one that caught it and said if it ruptures it could explode 50 feet. he has bad knees and has to wear knee braces so i told him to call 911 then hopped out with my twin running, it was hard to think when i was worried. i knocked on the door loudly a couple times but no response but i had to make sure so I turned the knob and the door was open. i ran in and said "ANY ONE IN HERE? THERE IS A FIRE!" it was small inside so it was a fast search and i saw a bit of fire starting to come in i reached the bedroom and there was an old man inside hard asleep. i screamed FIRE to wake him up. you would think waking up to a man you dont know screaming at you in your house would scare some one but this man seemed not calm but like he understood the objective right away. he couldnt go fast so my twin helped him walk. we asked if there was any one else and he said no. we put down the tail gate of the truck and told him to sit inside we got to move incase the tank explodes. we waited and the firemen got there and put the house out first we checked out the tank and im so unsure how it didnt explode because the remaining white paint turned black. the guy said thanks to us and we went back to our long trip.

That one almost had me in tears. You know darn well he felt like he had redeemed himself. Rest in Peace Francisco.

HIPPA only applies to entities associated with patient care, like doctors, hospitals, medical transportation companies, etc. That's why the hospitals the media called didn't give them any info, they legally can't. It also says a lot about the media who wanted the details so they could harass the family.

Losing a child as a whole is literally the one thing that can drive parents apart. A future lost, a life stolen. A mother's grief always shakes me to the bone to the point it still haunts me.

It should also be added that in this case (of a minor, that is), their parents/guardians are automatically granted access to all records. A second party must explicitly given access by the patient once they turn 18 (including the parents/guardians who previously had access).

Unfortunately I think a majority of people only do 'good deeds" when they know they'll get recognition, fame, money, etc. At this point people that do kind things without expecting something in return are a rarity. Social media is just clumped with people filming their good acts for internet points. I think some of them may be good people but a lot of them are just in it for the money they get from exploiting people at their most vulnerable moments. I doubt they ask for permission before filming (even though technically it's not illegal but it's morally not right imo) because it's like get filmed when you're living on the streets and get money to eat? Or refuse and probably get nothing.

Social media termites have amassed such a massive ball of pessimism among already exhausted people that I recall just totally not noticing even when I did significantly considerate things for people until it was pointed out to me. If you read the memoir you'd know the spouse dropped the charges. That's why it wasn't pursued. He was also the father of one of the victims' friends so they didn't think he was suspicious. However, there was a incident where he was pulled over for minor traffic violation for which he was let off. That is disappointing.

Simple. Someone has to be mentally present enough to understand the court, and at the same time mental health is not a shield for dangerous behavior. Regardless of his state, he did those things. How his unwell state at the time didn't become a mitigating factor when sentencing rolled around is the actual suspicious part here.

He was declared mentally competent in October 2018 and was then able to stand trial. Being mentally incompetent to stand trial isn't permanent. It just means the person is put in a mental health hospital and given treatment until they can be declared competent
