Main reason why, is depth. Last year no Kadri, Eric Johnson and had to play 3rd string goaltender, plus Byram was still in juniors. With ppl out like that out of the line up, they had play a different style of game

NO Jessie... On a 2 on 1 - the defenseman's #1 priority is to not let the pass go to the other player, period.

The key to Colorado's success so far has been Darnell Nurse.

They're one of very few teams who can match the oilers stride for stride, and I think thats what's got the oilers so messed up. The avs match the oilers attack, and quickly counter, something Edmonton is usually doing and not being forced to defend.

Anyone else think the NHL should go back to standard 1 through 8 seeding for the playoffs?

Did they forget about the rangers. Not a single video on them.

Easy by putting pressure on their D and forcing them to make plays ,,, which most Edmonton defensemen can’t without making bad passes,,, injuries doesn’t excuse being bad defensively

look I will tell you how you help the Edmonton soilers. head down to maple leaf gardens. steal all the leaf jerseys. fly out to Edmonton. break into the avalanches dressing room. swap the jerseys for the leaf jerseys. leafs fans for a moment would think they were about to see greatness in a leafs jersey. But no, that is not how It works. suddenly you have another dumpster team becuase those jerseys just drain all the talent and skill out of anyone that wears ones. But... you helped Edmonton, just by proving the leafs are just a curse of mediocrity.

The no Canadian teams allowed to win the cup rule? 7 penalties to 2? Shots to the head ignored? The new floating blue line rules? Interference is not a penalty called on the Avs? For a bunch of leafs fans that watched the call that ended the season for canadas largest fan base, you act surprisingly unaware of the biases.

Because nobody outside of Edmonton sees it this way. The oilers didn't get screwed by the refs. They were undisciplined. The landeskog hit was absolutely to the shoulder. The offsides call was dumb but, by the rules, absolutely onside. Stop crying.

So refs should artificially keep penalties close?

The fact it was 4-0 in penalties for the avalanche and so many missed calls is telling me that the oilers are done cause the NHL wants the oilers to be done

I can agree with this comment to a point: there was an elbow to the face thrown by Mackinnon in the second period that was after the play was stopped and it wasn't called. Makar holding McDavid's stick wasn't called. Interference wasn't called. These things can take a team out of the game. All of that said, Colorado was the better team in game 2 after the first period.

This victim complex from some Canadian hockey fans is wild. Maybe the reason penalties were so lopsided is because Colorado was controlling the puck and Edmonton took more blatant penalties. The NHL isn't conspiring against your team, take off the tin foil hat.

I wonder if you noticed the long list of penalties that weren’t called on the oilers. Do you want the refs to “manage” the game or call the game as it’s played. Nothing egregious was missed. Byram went to the box for getting his helmet ripped off by Kassian on the bench . Gimme a break , blaming the refs in this game is a joke .

The refs certainly are making it easy on Colorado… Kanes stick was being held by a Colorado player and so he gave them a shove and somehow Kane got the penalty? I thought holding was a penalty… many other examples of the same too

Makar held McDavid's stick on a few occasions, Mackinnon elbowed Bouchard in the face after the whistle was blown in the second period and it wasn't called. Several interference plays that were not called. All that said, Edmonton needs to rise above this garbage and take control of the game instead of letting this stuff get under their skin. The Oilers were the better team in the 1st period of game 2 ( even with Colorado's huge power play advantage ) but it all fell apart in the 2nd and on.

That may be the first time I've seen makar make a good defensive game. Unbelievable player but not very sound defensively yet.

More takeaways than giveaways since his rookie season but sure. I'm assuming you must have been watching a different Makar and are mixing them up
