It's difficult to say whether Lewis had a bad lap or whether he felt his car was sabotaged and something wasn't right. All I can say is he was first out in practice, first to set the fastest laps in practice and then suddenly we go away and find Mercedes has probably looked into his data and tweaked Russell to improve against Lewis. I would say nobody is touching Lewis's car. I would say, they are using Lewis's data to make George faster come Qualifying. And Lewis's speed deficit down the straight was the slowest of the cars on the final qualifying. I don't think he's a driver who 'chokes'. But he had two attempts at it and didn't come good, which is odd.

0.280 is such a small gap between pole and 7th! A gust of wind, a small error, a fortunate tow can all make the difference. But George's qualifying time was RAPID given he was on used tyres, and aside from Max nobody improved for some reason on their final run.

FYI, this is the same thing they said in 2022. Even when the team confirmed Lewis is running more of the testing equipment, we ignored it and said Luis is getting beaten fair and square by George. In 2023, he beat George and it was confirmed he was no longer bearing most of the testing load. This year, he is a consistent 2th off Georger tenths slower, even after outdoing him in practice. When will we learn? And if he beats Charles? It's because he is in a better car? You guys don't think.

RDS - Russell Derangement Syndrome

Here's my take: I think that Merc and Lewis are going through a premature divorce - a divorce with George quite rightly taking the #1 seat in the team (especially when it comes to in-team discussions about 2025 whereby of course Lewis won't be included)... ...Lewis is not used to this scenario; in fact, its a situation he's NEVER been in before. And this off the back of the post 2021 finale - 2+ years where Merc have lost almost all form, reputation, and arguably leadership as well (Toto looked and sounded like he'd thrown in the towel earlier this year with this years car, let alone the early heartbreak of learning Hamilton was leaving)... Psychologically this is a LOT. I think that the VERY early news of Lewis moving to Ferrari was leaked (I reckon through Eddie Jordon, who loves to stir the pot, pull the strings and watch the drama unfold from behind the scenes) and has really let the cat out of the bag FAR earlier than either Lewis or Mercedes would have liked. Lewis for obvious reasons (being kept as a part of 2025 discussions, no media hassle, comparison to Sainz/George etc) Mercedes because of driver management, leaving on good terms with Lewis / quality PR for Merc, having Lewis be at his optimum at the moment when Merc finally seem to (now) be getting more to grips with their car*. *yes past performance is not indicative of future success in ANYTHING but to write Lewis off from his 7-1 quali performances this year is not necessarily indicative of Lewis' genuine state of driving potential right now either. Essentially I see this year as putting Merc methods of management, workplace/sport/driver psychology and media/PR navigation is being in a similar boat to RBR with their Horniergate / loss of Newey. To me, things with Lewis is almost a death by a thousand cuts. Could it be that he's simply past his best now? Yes, absolutely! But I think that having 3 years of a slow grind down the grip coupled with this nail in the coffin of the Ferrari news in Jan / George getting #1 driver treatment is truly throwing Lewis a loop. Could there be intra-team politics and some forms of sabotage? Perhaps; the days of Rosberg and Lewis swapping mechanics showed how bitter it can get within Merc (and by the way for any folks thinking I'm an outright Lulu fan - I see Lewis as being more responsible for this occurring considering his general tendency towards gamesmanship/brinkmanship - especially in terms of PR; which is why so many detest Lewis!)... ...and lastly, remember that Hamilton going to Ferrari means that the ante is very DEFINITELY upped for any mechanics/engineers wishing to jump ship with Lewis: a detail that Toto seems to be working damned hard to prevent poaching going on; which is more facts that we as F1 mortals get rarely a glimpse of except from the dust kicked up by the Drive To Survive team... So there we have it! Mercedes is a complex ecosystem of emotions vs logic vs morality/ethics/fairness right now: none of which is conducive to a team being at their outright best. George is definitely navigating the PR better than Lewis at the moment but I think that probably the fire of Toto (you can see it in his body language when he's in the garage/on the pitwall) is stoking a lot more than we realise behind the squeaky clean curtains of public relations / appeal. If you look into the Q pattern of when Russell becomes invincible for Hamilton to beat him, Russell always starts having advantage over Hamilton in the end of Q2 even though Hamilton leads Russell in the first Q2 run. If you see this pattern, no hope for Hamilton to beat him in Q3. Moreover, Russell is always be a driver that improve the most from PF3 to Q3. It seems Russell has a party mode in last stage of Q2 or his bin or beat Hamilton mode is active. Or it could be Hamilton is having an exit treatment like Danny Ric had in RBR 2018. I hope it isn't the case.

I feel we are focusing on the wrong thing here...... merc 1st push lap in q3 was their fastest time on USEDDDDD softs .... we should be focusing on why dey couldn't improve wen putting on a fresh set (max did ). This is where i think sabotage could potentially have occurred. Rain was in the air, which can imply track temps could have been dropping and LH may have simply not have enough time to get the new softs in the operating window (causing loss of said grip) because he was forced by the team to rush his outlap in fear of not reaching the flag.... tyre prep can b n is just as important as engine modes... Boy oh boy. 1. The narrative that Lewis has checked out is just BS. They say it as if it is official fact. 2. He does not care because the car is not competitive so he is not going to waste effort. They have the fastest car here and while his team mate is on pole, Lewis is still in 7th. 3. He is experimenting. Russell used Lewis' data to take pole. So Lewis' experiment worked for Russell but not for Lewis. 4. Sabotage, maybe he knows Merc sabotage their drivers because he knows they sabotaged Bottas and Rosberg to favour him. You cannot claim you are the victim of sabotage without acknowledging you have been the beneficiary as well in the past. If you know Merc are sabotaging you, then you have to concede perhaps they did so too to Bottas and Rosberg.
