Today we tackle the rest of the front accessory drive on the LS3. We are utilizing a corvette offset crankshaft pulley so our options for the accessories are a little more limited. The Corvette pulley keeps everything the tightest to the front of the engine leaving the most available room for the radiator and cooling fan setup. We were able to use ICT Billet brackets for the Alternator and A/C Compressor on the passenger side. For the Power Steering pump we had to come up Sith our own solution. The off the shelf options hung it way off the side or placed it where the steering gear resides. So we drew up and 3d printed our test pieces. Today we make those out of aluminum and get the power steering pump mounted.

Nice bracketry that's for sure Joe. Every little bit of work you do on the LS3 Swapped Defender brings it closer to completion.

Appreciate that! I think a stain clear would be the ticket on them.

Turns out me and your mum were right about those safety glasses ;) oh, and for me i'd just sandblast the bracket. makes it blend in with the engine better.

Glad to have both of you watching out for me haha. I think I’m leaning towards the sandblast as well, should look like they belong in there then.

Hey Joe, the set up looks killer, very well done. one thing i noticed, the brake booster is up side down, the vac port should be up top, if the master ever leaks in to the servo your awesome engine will suck up brake fluid, keep up the good work buddy, also i still have a box of goodies here for you for the NADA109

Wow, that looks amazing. Top job as always. My vote is to powder coat the brackets to stop the aluminium from corroding, if you go the sand blasted route make sure you protect the countersunk holes, as you don’t want to have a potential issue of them not seating properly with the fixing screws. It’s great to see her coming together, it won’t be long now before she gets blown apart and the big paint job begins. 😎👍

I could do a clear powder coat on the brackets afterwards. Used to do that on some metal art that was purposely rusted, could do a satin clear to fit in. Good advice on the masking off the holes. It is moving along, gets more exciting the closer it gets to coming all apart.

@@LostCauseRanch Now that all the hard fabrication work is complete and sorted, the blowing apart and then onto final assembly is the real fun part, seeing all of your hard work finally come together as a piece of Automotive art, keep up the great work😎👍🍻

Very neat. I think vapour blasting of the brackets after media blasting would be good - just sand blasting will leave them prone to corrosion, but vapour blasting gives a slight peening that gives a good finish that is a lot more dirt and corrosion resistant. Not a bad effort on the correct pronunciation of “aluminium”. A little more practice and you’ll get there. Al you min ium. The last bit is the important part, so just think of how you say plutonium, caesium, strontium, tritium and all those other useful workshop materials! 😜

Appreciate that insight on the vapor blasting, very helpful. And it is funny how the Americans just deleted that last “i” out of the pronunciation all together. I’ll keep my aluminum and plutonium stored together haha.

@@LostCauseRanch just be sure to keep them a few inches apart - you don’t want your plutonium suffering bimetallic corrosion. 😉

Look at you go there, I say sand blast as it will match better, But more cleaning to do lol unless you seal them up after.

I think clear powder after, should give it the proper look on not looking overly aftermarket on there I think.

I assume you are talking about the steering column assisted ones? I'd like to try that out on a future project someday.
