Our complete solar system is finally DONE! Lou goes through exactly how he built our off grid DIY power station to run everything we need in the shipping containers. This shipping container build has been a pretty epic adventure, can't wait to see where things progress as winter sets in!

Re the conduits and heat. If you put a copper coil around the chimney for water to circulate then you would recover heat from the chimney. You could use that with a small 12v pump to move warm water to the other containers. Look up Red Dot 12 volt Auxiliary Cabin Heater.

Great work! So happy to see our rot protectors are helping your posts last. When you mentioned not being sure if you applied them correctly - It looks like you did, but next time we'd suggest using a blowtorch with a broader flame to ensure a better application and seal to the wood's surface. Hope this is helpful, any questions just feel free to ask and we'll be more than happy to help!

Just a tip, you should use diagonally opposite pos and negative terminals for the main battery wires to the system. This is so that when you are using multiple batteries in parallel, you will have more equal usage of the 4 individual batteries and more equal wear of the batteries. Ideally, two sets of 2x 48V 50Ah in parallel, and then run the cables of the two sets together to the busbar where they meet and then these wires to the system main cables. Just make sure the cable length in each set of two is equal. Similarly connect these two sets together at the busbar where the system's main cables are, cable length should also be the same.

You can pat yourselves on the back for a job well done. You always seem to do some things a little unconventionally... but in a way that works better for you... and that out-of-the-box thinking is nice to see. Thank you for summarizing this project and sharing it with us. I guess I came to your channel a little late... so I missed some of the early stages of your container build. I'll have to go back and check those out.

Trying to figure out how you are living there with the shower and bath being outside in this cold weather. Are you leaving to take a shower at your parents house every day? How is it working having the bathroom so far away?

I know you asked 6 months ago but if you still wanna know, with 4 x 48v x 50ah that's 9.6kwh. now what can you run with that.. not much but since they don't have much power consumption it's probably good enough for them, especially since they use wood and propane for heat.

I’m glad you’ve had a better experience with Renogy than myself. 2/4 of the products I’ve bought from them have failed in the first couple month and dealing with them has been one of my worst customer service experiences ever. It’s all be a huge disappointment for me.
