In this video, we show you a hurricane event we went through while vacationing. Specifically, we did a real nice all-inclusive resort vacation to Mexico October 2023 at the RIU Hotel Jalisco. On the day we were scheduled to depart, hurricane Lidia appeared and our flight got cancelled. To be specific, they Airport closed due to the hurricane. We saw flights taking off until 1:30pm that day, the Airport was scheduled to close at 2pm.
The very fortunate thing is that we were with the travel agency Sunwing.
To my delight Sunwing took care of everything for all the guest, another hotel room along with shuttle options were provided. The hotel Sunwing booked for us is the Friendly Fun Hotel in Vallarta Mexico. It was a real nice hotel and we were taken care of quite well during Hurricane Lidia which eventually reached a Category 4. The only real downfall was that their restaurant closed before dinner and food was not available. However, you could get coffee and tea and their in house coffee shop. - This is super understandable as it was an emergency, but I is something I wanted to mention.
The family feels very fortunate to have survived this ordeal without much damage. It could have been a lot worst. For the record, the week after we landed a much stronger Category 5 Hurricane hit the surrounding area and caused much more havoc. Walls in building collapsed, roofs blown off, and windows shattering. We are very very fortunate that things went well for us and are very thankful for it.

The live stream was interesting, I think I was one of the last people to stay connected - I resorted to using my Canadian Cell Data in the end which also eventually got cut.
