Over the years you hint at being low, stale, jaded etc. I find when I'm flat, my work (project management) output is flat too. When I'm buzzing my output rocks too. You obviously enjoyed the Sonic Boom shoot, and that comes across in the pictures. I read an article about how to turn a job you dislike into one you love. Basically you hunt for the small bits you love and gradually make them a bigger and bigger part of the job. We can do that in our careers but also in our hobbies - when I look through lightroom the pictures I'm most pleased with (not many!), were always fun to shoot. That tells me where I should focus my efforts in the future.

I'm just branching out into portraiture. I use ShootProof to set up client galleries without ability to download or print with all the proofs. They favorite the ones they like, and I edit those and refresh the gallery, updating the functions like downloads and prints.

Thank you so much for this. In the last year I've had issues with both Dropbox and with Google Drive. On top of that, I had 2TB of images dissappear from a corrupted redundant hard drive raid. I was a broken person for a couple of months. I hadn't heard of Shootproof before, but you can bet I'll be using them now. You are an amazing person for sharing this! If you plan on doing a deeper dive into this service, that would be very cool. I hope you are all well and give my best to Carl, he makes me smile every time.

Thanks for sharing Zack. I've been using ShootProof for about four years now and like you have tried most other solutions in the market before. It's by far the most comprehensive solution out there and I fully endorse all that you say. Also, like you, I'm not using it to its full extent yet, but I intend to make use of these strange times explore all the possibilities.

Thanks for this in depth review. Well done. I was looking for an affordable way to make photos printable without me having to take payment, order, deliver to customer . . . This fits the bill and prices for an entry level service is very reasonable. Hell, im a brand new photographer but im going to the local racetrack (NASCAR) and a friend who races tells me a couple of the other drivers want to buy my photos! Cool. This makes it easy and im not having to pay for more than I need and can expand as/if needed.

Love your video💕💕. I’ve been using ShootProof for years and have barely gotten under the hood. Thanks for reminding me about all the cool stuff they offer. I especially like the archive aspect - kinda another place to safely store your photos. I would love for you to do a video on beginner commercial photographers. I do have your Q&A book and I love it but it’s a little over the top for me. I would love for you to maybe talk about moving from portrait photographer to commercial/editorial photography and things like licensing and average prices for licensing and all of that. It's been awhile since I've taken a look at shootproof. they've added a lot of features since the last time I've taken a look at them. I have been using pixie set for the last 2 to 3 years and I've been really happy with them but they don't have the features that shoot proof has so now I think it's time to make the move. How do you organize your galleries if you are delivering your photos to, for example, a team where you are shooting multiple players?, and how do you keep track of the individuals you are shooting? I'm just a photographer trying to get his foot on the door and this video has been by far the most informational I've found in weeks of research. I look forward to watching more of your videos.

I use a competitor that has a lot of the same bells and whistles, but is much clunkier as an end user... and more expensive. Might have to move to shootproof at the end of this contract.

What a great video! You made this very simple to understand a complex system. You mention inviting the client to see the gallery. In my case, I want to take pictures at a Re-Enactment Program. I will not have their emails. I would like to hand them a business card with a LINK to the gallery so they can go to the link, find their picture, order their pictures, and pay. I will need the Gallery LINK prior to the show, so I can get the cards printed. Thanks for your help. Bob

This was excellent (of course!). Does it have a blog? I currently have my site with Squarespace and my sale galleries elsewhere. I’d really love it to be all in one place. Struck me that Adobe has the structure for this - galleries with online Lightroom, payment with Adobe Stock etc.. Big thank you anyway. I’ll certainly have a look.

Thanks for the video Zack! I just started looking at galleries I could use for events other than Dropbox. I was suggested to try Pixieset, PicTime and Shootproof. With very little research I was leaning toward Shootproof since I have looked at them years ago but never did anything with them except get their emails to this day. Since watching your video my mind is made up! I may start with the freebie unless you suggest different. I don't shoot a lot of events like I used to but I have one next weekend and want to present them more professionally than Dropbox. Any suggestions you can give me will bee appreciated! Thanks again! this was a great information video. I'm almost ready to switch over to shoot proof. I'd like to keep my Squarespace website and link it to shoot proof, I think you mentioned that. I will find out but do you know if they use Stripe to transfer payments to my bank as I have PhotoDay for my volume photography and they do that, seamless but all together it cost me 12% with PhotoDay, Stripe and Miller's lab. Does shootproof allow the client to select what size print they want and then allows them to move the picture around inside that area? I don't want to upload different aspect ratios for the same picture for print. I try to leave enough space around what I'm shooting so I can go from the sensor's 3:2 aspect ratio to like a 5x7 or 8x10 print size without cropping into the subject.

Hey Zack. Thanks for this detailed video. I have a question though. Can you limit the number of images to be downloaded (by the client). For example, if you have 100 images in an album and you share that with the client. You give the client the option to download say 50 images. If the client like more than 50 images say 20 more images, then they would need to pay to download the additional 20 images. Does this software have this feature?

Zack let me switch to de-caf. I want to still be able to offer my personal images to my motion picture clients and not lose ownership or give away the image rights because of an unpaid courtesy or gesture. ShootProof is just for delivery for me. I do all my culling and editing as normal in PM, LR, C1 etc. When it’s time to deliver that is where ShootProof comes in. I forgot to mention they do have a Lightroom plugin so you can export right from LR to ShootProof. It’s super easy to use and learn. Way easier than LR or C1 to get rolling.

Hello Zack, I was wondering who you use for your outward facing site since you can't use a full personal address with ShootProof? The address they give is ???.shootproof.com. I have watched their videos and you can mask their site with another. So how do you do the outward facing gallery with your personal address. Thank you.

I use squarespace for my site. Once you sign up for ShootProof you get instructions on how to set up your galleries to be a sub domain of your own. I just followed this instructions

I've been with SmugMug for years. No complaints. BUT this video really has me questioning my allegiance. I have the mechanics of SmugMug down. I can whip up a gallery in moments. Do I really want to learn a whole new procedure? Your presentation has me thinking "yes"! Zack, what is your experience with SmugMug vs Shoot Proof?

You can sell prints from ShootProof at no additional cost. I believe SmugMug charges a commission, does it not?

This looks fantastic but the majority of my clients are blocked from using such services and I have to deliver in a way that they can use. Its a shame because ShootProof would save me a lot of hassle. One again, thanks for sharing.

Zack Arias essentially they are corporate and government clients and most are restricted to only use any sites designated by their I.T departments. None even have useable USB ports so delivering jobs is always a ball ache pal.

Since when is a link boring? It’s a link. Working with pros and clients like virgin and hbo. All big companies use links. Because its free and practical. My Clients don’t want to go to a new website to get their photos. This is like the 2005 photographers that had music and flash on their websites so it can look aesthetically nice. We later realized KISS keep is simple stupid is the way to go. No need for external websites. It makes you look like a try hard.

I work with large clients as well and I’ve never had anyone comment negatively about this process. I’ve actually had clients tell me they like it more than Dropbox links or similar. Sure... Dropbox still has a place in my life but ShootProof is just nicer. I’ve also found ways that it creates profit for my business. Small to mid level clients really appreciate it as well. To each their own. But yeah... links are boring!

Thank you this was a very informative video. 2 questions, I do events often, is there a way to have text marketing? for example at the event we can say text this number, sign up and we will text you a link when the gallery is ready. Also does ShootProof offer more than just prints. Can I have eCommerce that includes printed coffee mugs, t-shirts, keychains, necklaces etc.?
