16:06 “I wanna meet people, I wanna hear about their story, I wanna hear about what they’re doing, and the camera is the key to that. The camera is my passport. The camera let’s me into places and into peoples lives...” That quote pretty much sums it all up 😭❤️

What makes this video stand out is are the little stories about overcoming the challenges of the creative process. There is a honesty and vulnerably in the creative struggle, "another old guy taking a picture of a young girl." or "I don't have the camera gear" or "making friends with a case of beer and the instax." etc. And what camera manufactures don't want anyone to know, it isn't a 'gear' problem but a "mentality" problem. I really enjoyed the video.

_"One great benefit of traveling with such a small camera is it's not intimidating at all when you pull this thing out. You're just somebody taking some photos with a little camera but the quality you get is equal to something that's much larger than this."_ I don't think you could've made a better video about the X100V because in your opening you nailed the superpower of the X100 series. I spent a couple of years wandering around Southeast Asia with a X100T and X-T1 and while as we all know the two cameras are very similar internally they're very different externally which can make a world of difference. Where people look at "professional" cameras with distrust people smile when they see a classic rangefinder like the X100V. I wandered through many wet markets with my X100T and no one ever gave me a second look. I wasn't a travel photojournalist to them, just another tourist. If you do another video about the X100V maybe you should build on what you've already seen as it's greatest strength: a wolf dressed-up as a friendly puppy. =)

Well...for a guy who did not have to many ideas about what to do, your pictures done with 3 strobes from Walmart and some smoke are pretty impressive.....That's where you see the difference between a real pro and us, you always find a way to create something from nothing.....you always have this "something" who gives a great result.

Love the story about the Fuji project, the smoky woods shots were beautiful, but the Cuba video locked it out of the park. The little printer is a wonderful idea. Heck you probably sold a few of those for Fuji. My favorite shot was the B&W of the couple on the bike. I also appreciated the examples of how to photograph a car without photographing the car. Composition is mysterious in this way, so whatever you can do to help us understand it, is much appreciated. It would also be great if you could do more stories about projects like this one for Fuji. Good stuff!

I remember your promotional videos for past Fujifilms, especially the one from India. I was on vacation in Mexico a few years ago, and inspired by your videos, I took only an Olympus E-PL1 and a 17mm f2.8 lens. I came back with images that were not crippled by the indecision having too much gear can cause.

It's not the camera that let you in those places and people's lives. It's you. And I for one would be delighted to know more about how you get in there... not "tricks" because it sounds a bit exploitative, but just seeing how you process a scene and approach strangers etc... Gold mine right here.

I like how the video you made for Fuji talks about the camera but also don't. It was the right choice because if I want to know the specs I read them online, in these videos I like to see the actual use and the results. I particularly like the classic cars photos, how you've used the colors and other objects to complement the car colors.

I just love the sincerity you use in everything you do. Warts and all. The world is just filled to the brim with Supermans "smashing all of those buttons"... We don't need any more of those. I would love to see a video on the evolution of Zach alongside the almost 10 years of X100's existence. The camera changed a lot throughout the years, we all know that... What changes YOU underwent over these same years? It could be a cool one... Anyway, thank you for all of the videos and talks. This "new season" is fantastic!

I always like hearing about your process. Thanks for sharing that Fuji promo video. The part about the kids on the street reminds me of a time my partner, Mike, was shooting film with his 5x4 Press camera and a really random thing happened. We were in Nova Scotia, it was low tide, and he was getting some cool landscape shots of the red mud and cliffs. He was quite a ways out. I could see all of it happening from the shore. This kid started walking out in the distance and was in his shot but Mike was using a tripod so was just going to wait it out. Then, the kid just whipped it out and started to pee - facing towards the camera (but seeming unaware of Mike's presence). Mike picked it all up and started walking back. Sometimes you can wait it out and sometimes you can't!

Pmsl, loving it ... thank you as always, love the tongue in cheek humour, really great vid .. missed the original but this was probably better :) I'm enjoying the T at the moment, but will get there. Have a Canon & lenses & as you say stuff & more stuff ... when I'm normally out I just take the Fuji with a Samsung phone backup as you say to allow me to live life & take pics, & not worry about being anything else. As a kid I was the one taking the pics & never in them but have always been at the edge of wonderful things with amazing people. So Fuji, just keep doing what you do so well, we will keep using it to live our lives.

Hey Zack - great to see you back on KZfaq with another excellent video. It was your brilliant, inspirational “A camera walks into a bar...” review of the X100S and many previous Fuji videos that convinced me to sell all my Canon gear and buy an X-Pro 1 (with 35mm f/1.4 lens of course!) Since then I’ve had an X-Pro 2, XT2 and, my favourite of all, an X100F. All this is now going to be replaced with an X100V as I’ve finally come to embrace the “less is more” philosophy. And seeing what you’ve produced here in Cuba it absolutely proves that you don’t NEED two cameras and a bag full of lenses; just one camera and bagfuls of talent. The first bit is easy - you can just buy the camera, it’s the talent that’s harder to come by. So keep making more videos please Zack, and inspire us all Thank you, Andy Ps I also loved the grey haired, middle-aged guy and pretty girl bit. Simple stuff again but the results were stunning!

What a fantastic video, it brought back such great memories of my trip to Havana Cuba a few years ago. Unfortunately, I did lug around a bunch of gear but swore I'd never do it again so on my next trip, I can't wait to walk the streets of Havana with only my X100V. It will make the shooting experience and the trip so much more enjoyable not having to worry about changing lenses, just work with what ya' got. Thanks again for the memories.

What a great idea to make street portraits and print on site for them. I have organized several Help Portraits in my community and the absolute greatest part of the project is the look on the face of your subject when you hand them a print. It's a memory that is burned into your brain. I'll have to look into that little printer and see if it will work with my X100s. As always, Zack, thank you for the content.

So one technical thing I'm interested with the x100 is how you shoot for post processing and for those instax prints. Sometimes I find that I wish I went with a different color profile or settings to make the colors sing on the instax when I was shooting more for post processing later. Cheers man. And I remember when that x100v promotional video came out and I was blown away by how much of it wasn't the camera but the connection to Cuba and people and taking in a space.

Hey Zack, the thing I like about your promotional videos is just that... you don't put the camera at the center of the video, but you put photography and the experience at the center. It's one of the reasons you're one of my favorite and inspirational photographers. I love your philosophy and it has definitely influenced me quite a bit. I probably won't be buying the X100V but I do have an X100S which I recently took out of the box (because of this video LoL), dusted off and went out and started taking photos. Primarily taking a shot at photojournalism. But street photography is definitely something that has interested me for a while now. I don't really have a question. I just wanted to say thank you and great job. Keep it up. Well, maybe I can ask how would you approach photojournalism with this camera?

Outstanding video. It's made me really want to Fuji x100V even though I am too disabled to travel any more. It reminds me of the great point and shoot cameras of the days of film. I used to take one with me to places like Egypt and I made very good photographs. Never did the SLR camera with a dozen lenses like some of my richer friends did. Living within the limitations is possible and actually makes one think about better photos. Also - no one gets intimidated by a small camera.

As always, you have inspired me. I have been a follower of yours since the original X100, which I still have. I recently purchased the Canon Rp because I thought I really needed full frame. I traded away my Fuji XE-2 and severally lens. G.A.S got the best of me and now I regret it and miss my Fuji gear. I saw this video when it was first published by Fujifilm when they released the V, but rewatching it today really confirmed my idea that I don't need full frame and a bazooka of a lens to get the shots that make me happy; also the printer is going a must now too! Thanks, Zack keep up the great work!!

Beautiful, inspiring video and music. Totally agree that the X100 series is like rediscovering the joy of photography. Less gear and more love in the pictures! I hope Santa Fe are still filling their workshops, as their prices are a bit silly these days. That said, they're partly responsible for my now living here, in México. That move came after my partner and I did two separate SF workshops in 2007.

Really liked this video!, the Cuba trip was specially fun. I've been mulling the less gear thing, I usually take a body and a couple of lenses, but that V is very very tempting.

Not sure why, but I hadn't seen the Cuba video before and although the pictures in the woods were quite good, those from Cuba were fantastic! It's so nice to see photography content on KZfaq that isn't full of; 'look what "I" can do with "all' this fabulous equipment and a pretty girl'. Thanks for sharing Zack. 👍

Your pictures of Cuba (seen in large on a 4k TV screen) are the most beautiful and effective advertising for X100V, i've ever seen. I'm very impressed and very admiring. 👍👍👍

I've been looking for this video for a long time. I first saw it a couple years ago and bought a x100f. I'm an old guy! It was my first digital camera. It's also the only digital camera that I own. Thank you!

Well done! This is way better than a boring review. A story with purpose and intent. Signal in the noise! FujiFilm is wise to let you run with it and be the creative you are. Big fan! I have two FujiFilm cameras now and you had an influence on my decision to get them. Keep up the excellent content, brother.
