Awesome rig bro. I just got my 1500 mini in .223 (can't handle the recoil of full size cartridge due to shoulder injury). I also got a Bell $ Carlson M40 style stock and a Riton 3X 6-24X50 scope. Working on bedding right now and hoping it will shoot as great as yours. Looking forward to watch your part 2 of this project.

I put one together with a 24" 6.5CM barreled action, MDT, 20 degree, Harris Bipod, Bushnell 6-24x50mm Match Pro. I don't break my barrels in, just don't overheat them. After five or so rounds, I got touching @100 yards all day long. I did a 1.25 inch five shot group at 300, and can hit the steel at 400 easily. I just found a 22-250 barreled action to replace the one I burned out (that caliber is dangerous) and will put that one in a Boyd stock that I stiffened up, epoxy with brass pillar bed, and 1/4 " brass plate parallel sliding surfaces. Howa is excellent. I use a Vanguard straight from the factory in 6.5 CM for hunting.

22-250 is on my list to add to my collection for sure!

I’ve built up two Howa rifles. Both were 6.5 CM. One a 24” heavy barrel, and current one is 26” heavy barrel. Mine have ran almost only handloads, but they are still the two most accurate rifles I’ve ever worked with
@blackwatcharms Жыл бұрын
Outstanding. Who did you use to do the 26" barrel?
@andrewcleveland Жыл бұрын
@@blackwatcharms I got the barreled action from Brownells. Then a Bell and Carlson medalist stock. I glass bedded the action myself, and fit a PTG aics bottom metal myself also.

Some companies give a break in procedure to keep people from continuously asking how to break the barrel in, even though it makes negligible diference.

Just bought a Howa 1500 barreled action off Brownells 6.5 cm 24 in heavy barrel. Probably going to get a Macmillan A3/5 stock. Looking forward to part 2

What size patch , jag and cleaning rod did you use to clean out the bore during the break in process?
@blackwatcharms Жыл бұрын
I use the J Dewey Rod that is coated. It was just a small pierce jag as I forgot my nylon brush. Normally I would use a nylon brush that is a little smaller then the caliber and wrap a patch around it. Use that with the cleaner and then the jag with the dry patches.

Why are you using a lead sled?

I dont like them but the bench i was shooting from was to shallow and i couldn't get a rear bag under the rifle comfortably.

I made a comment about that but it didnt make it in after editing. i was getting all my stuff out on the bench and didnt notice the bore guide rolled off so it never made with me when i packed up to go. Live and learn.
