I was wondering Anna why your dad doesn't use a pole for the ceiling painting. I am of an age, the less I climb a ladder the better. I just painted the vaulted ceiling in my home and the pole was amazing and very helpful. Yes, one still needs to climb a ladder when cutting in. Your parents are lovely! What an amazing difference your dad made, how fun!! And I’m guessing your mum was happy with some grandma time. Color drenching is a technique used to make small rooms seem larger, but you’ve got massive rooms so you don’t need to go that route. And the beauty of color drenching is when you mix sheens and textures to really pop up the interest, because color drenched rooms can otherwise feel boring and incomplete. I think your gorgeous yellow ochre and yellow ochre with white lino-printing is going to be lovely. You’ll get the warmth of a Ziggy colored space with the gorgeous texture of the wallpaper. It’ll be fun. In renovation work there are months of hard work where it doesn’t look like much is happening. My favorite was always when the paint started to go up and from then on the changes happened faster and made a bigger impact. Wishing you all the best in your endless labor of love.

What great memories for your family. PS , over here across the big pond, what was once called the Master bedroom is now called the Main or Primary bedroom. The term “Master bedroom” evokes the period of slavery in the USA, and so there has been an intentional pivot away from it. An added bonus, the word main is just one syllable, so it is also more efficient.

I love that first ochre colour with the brighter floral motif. It’s soft and lovely and cozy! And I don’t even like yellows! Think it would be a great choice! And follow your creative instincts!

I have always loved the color of deep, rich blue, as shown in the architects first display, but when I saw the 2nd shade of golden brown displayed I thought that was heaven. I had never considered that I might even like that golden brown shade as a wall color, so I wrote down the architects information for the future. Thanks for sharing.

This is going to sound like such an old person thing to say! But I’m only 54 and when I bought my home 21 years ago, my parents were such a huge help. Sometimes physically but more often with guidance. They’re now in their mid 90s, struggling with physical and memory stuff. They can’t drive or travel. I really miss their help. But it’s my turn to care for them and their home. Cherish every moment 💞💐
