The white wire that was connected to the frame is connected to the neutral inside the dryer. In old three wire connections the neutral double as a ground. When a four wire circuit is used the the white wire needs to be put onto the center or neutral lug to keep the ground and neutral separate per the newer code. There used to be a grounding strap that was to be connected to the neutral lug in the olden days.

I bought my 4-prong cord from a local appliance servicer/supplier for $10! Like he said, online is a great cheaper option too if you can wait. Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace, and all the other major hardware stores here in my town had an average price of around $25 fwiw.

So, I also have Samsung washer and drier. Instead of white wire under green screw, mine had green and yellow. I hope that did not make a difference. I still put it in center on Neutral. I am now trying to hook up steam function to remove wrinkles if clothes sat to long. I see yours has that also. Wanted to make sure I am doing that correctly

Hi, good video. My issue when changing to 4 prong cords is the middle screw is barely long enough to get both white wires screwed into the block. I don't know why Whirlpool can't make all the screws slightly longer. Here are a couple of suggestions I'd like to offer. Use a 1/4" nut driver instead of a screwdriver and shorten your flexible vent hose to as short as you need and keep it as straight as possible to the exit fitting in the wall. This will save you all kinds of issues with the dryer not working properly and blowing fuses because it can't discharge the hot air efficiently. It's a good idea to use a leaf blower occasionally to blow the lint out of the rest of the discharge line also.
