Soo sad the part where she said to the emperor that she was glad to have met him this life but hopefully we won’t ever meet again in our next life. You could see the empress love him , did not regret meeting him but was not really happy.

Yeah that hurts your heart hearing those words. Being married to someone you don't love nor do they love you. You're both stuck in this hell together and he's got a concubine that he does love. They love their children, but she should have been given the freedom to marry someone that she could love and loved her. She was worthy of so much more than being an empress but all she wanted was to be free from misery, pain, and unwanted marriage, and palace intrigue and live in her beloved mountains living a simple life like before.
