To start off 2020, this is my review for Huawei Watch GT 2. It's an amazing smartwatch with most of the features I was looking for. Yes, it's far from being perfect, but I'm still on the quest to find the ultimate smartwatch.
Here are some cool features.
1. Amazing battery life
2. AMOLED screen with Always of Display
3. Elegant design & build quality
4. Sleep tracking and stress monitoring
There are some issues on the app as well, but I hope they'll fix them soon!

Yes, you can read any messages or emails (no images will be shown). But you can't respond to them or any other notification.

If you have an iPhone, I would suggest you to go for an iWatch because it has better integration with iPhones.

You can also make calls from this watch. Some 10 numbers can be stored..plus from history of calls.

Yes, it indeed is a great device. It still have some issues, especially when syncing data with Google Fit.

Yeah, it doesn't sync the Heart Rate at all, and even the other measurements takes a lot of time to sync automatically.It didn't sync even after one day so I always have to manually sync.

There nowhere online a review that showcases the notifications.. Does it group messages or are they ungrouped? The reason I'm asking is that my Amazfit group messages and displays "you have 4 new messages". There is no way of reading my messages on the watch... I have to take out my phone to read the messages.

No, this doesn't group the messages. If you have 4 messages, it will show 4 notifications.

Brilliant battery performance. And this is with everything on! As good as they are, non of the top smart watches on the market, come anywhere close when it comes to battery life.

I think it's the same watch! Honor is a Huawei subsidiary company selling Huawei devices in US.

You can use those markings on the outside of the watch face to reference time intervals. It's quite smart.

GnomezGrave If you use a digital watch face then no. But, owners who want to use that feature wouldn’t be using a digital watch face. They would implement an Analog face.

If it was 12 hour markings, it makes sense. But I don't understand how it's useful since most of the analog dials are 12 hour ones.

@@GnomezGrave You can use them as markings to reference a start and end time. for instance, Divers can use those to time a dive. ie : 10 Min , 20 min of oxygen. etc.

Is there any way to receive notifications while the watch is in workout mode? If I choose bicycle workout mode, then I can see only actual data of my workout on the screen, while notifications (for example from Messenger) doesn’t appear. :(

Then I would recommend FitBit Versa 2, as it's a proper/better activity tracker and cheaper.

The watch is waterproof, but the leather straps will be damaged if you put it in water. So, I would recommend to use a silicone one.

Hi i am planning to Buy Huawei GT 2, but have checked in revenues that Huawei has App issue and Watch has Bluetooth communication issue with mobile due to which it doesn't show notifications and sys is also not done automatic. I am using Oppo F7 and going to update for MI or Samsung phone, so are this compatible with Huawei?

I never had issues with notifications when the watch is connected. Yes, the sync may not ne automatic. Any Android phone is compatible with this watch, and even iPhones.

My watch gt2 stopped recieving WhatsApp call notification anymore. I used too get my WhatsApp call directly to my watch gt2. Now suddenly stopped working. However I tried connecting to iPhone it works fine. Only it's not working if I connected to any Android phone. I did all reset options, both on phone and Watch GT2 ..Any idea? How to fix.

As I remember, I never got any notifications for calls on third-party apps. I'm also using an Android phone, and I think probably an issue with Google-Huawei issue in general.

I've been using this watch for the last couple of months, but I've had this problem and haven't found a solution: I've gone biking and when I use the watch to record the workout, sometimes the top of my hand will press one of the buttons by accident, pausing the workout record. This is because my wrist gets into less than a 90°. Then I would check the watch and have to resume the workout, leaving an untracked piece of route. Same could happen if doing push-ups for example. I know there's a lock button for the screen, but if I press the top button while working out it will paise the workout.

Yeah, the buttons are not that stiff and easily be pressed accidentally. :(

No, enabling Always on Display will disable the Raise to Wake feature.

Haven't tried that. But then why not directly connect the ear buds to the phone and answer the call? The watch doesn't have 4G support so you need the phone connected anyway to answer the calls.

I m using Sony wear os smart watch and there no in the smart watch whenever m getting calls so m receiving calls through smart watch but talking on my earpods. Coz m y ear pods and watch both are connected to my phone and it is quite easy. The only reason m switching that's my watch battery backup it is giving only one day backup. In Samsung frontier s3 watch have this kind of support in Samsung Watch there is two options through watch speaker or Bluetooth ear buds you can switch. So please you kindly try this in gt 2 and let me know. Thanks.

@@GnomezGrave brother you are right but in some different watch which has a speaker if I connect earbuds to my phone and if I receive calls through earbuds so its rejects n automatically switch to watch speaker. That's why am asking please clear.

As I know, it should be possible. But I honestly haven't had any such cases which caused confusion. It always connects to my headphones.

Hey man ! Someone told me that you can download an app on Huawei watch GT 2 the can display google map direction from your phone to the watch , only work if you have your phone with you ofc . Can you confirm if there is such thing or not, since this is a deal breaker for me and i only need directions shown on the watch even if i have to have my phone on me to work

Hey, as far as I know, we can't side-load apps to this watch. I can do some research, but given it's current features, I don't think it's possible.

You can remove permission for answering calls for the Huawei Health app, from app permissions section in Android settings.

If you need a smarter watch, it's Watch Active 2. It's better if you have a Samsung phone. If you need more battery life and/or have a Huawei phone. However, I would recommend to look at TicWatch Pro 3. It's sk far the best WearOS watch you can buy now.

Nothing to be honest. It doesn't make sense to me since it's a 0-24 range, which is useless even with an analog watch face.

Both of these should be done form the Huawei Health app. When you click on the device, it will show a "Favorite Contacts" section to add contacts. You can also select watch faces from the app.

I don't think any smartwatch can do it though. Not even Apple Watch. Same for Android ones. They don't vibrate/show notifications for WhatsApp calls.

Hi, it's NOT possible to install custom Watch Faces. So, you can't add custom Watch Faces and have to stick with what Huawei provides.

It is possible. There is a Watch Face called "Gallery" and you can upload your own images there.

I never experienced any issue like that. However, the sensor is not quite accurate as well. Probably it gives wrong readings due to sweat, hair, even your skin color. Worst case, you might have a defective sensor. You can try to ask someone else to try it out. And you can test another watch.

I don't have that issue but having alarming high level heart rate up as high as 194 though I feel absolutely alright. I guess the heart rate sensor is not accurate especially on high heart rates

I don't think so. It detects walking (as an activity) and running. Never tried it with the bike though.

After a later firmware update this got soved mostly. And I also enabled Bluetooth scanning and it kind of fixed the issue.

It's way better for sure. The only remaining issue, which will remain for sure, is it doesn't sync with Google Fit. If you don't care about it, then it's perfect.

Except the obvious issues like syncing, I wouldn't call it bad software TBH. Because, it's made it like that to save battery. If they introduce more sophisticated features, the battery life will definitely go down. And yes, the software itself is very buggy. 😣

@@GnomezGrave The worst is. 1) Isn't apps for integration to Strava or another similar service. Google Fit and MyFitnessPal 100% SUX. For bicycle, activity isn't auto stop function.

Yeah, that's sadly true. I like Amazfit in that aspect because they have really good integration with other services even though they're also a Chinese brand.
