He owes Iga for the United Cup match he lost playing Zverev. The whole team was so close to winning it all, almost tasted it and he lost his match. I was so disappointed. I get Zverev is an excellent player, still if your GF asks you to win, you go out there and win it. ...I suspect he has been practicing on clay ever since. Better not disappoints her again at the Olympics!!!

@@anseinueseima408any titles on clay and any results in clay is good for hurkacz, his biggest weapon is his serve which is most neutralised on clay, and he’s a VERY flat hitter especially his most reliable shot the backhand is one of the flattest on tour. As clay court players go, you don’t expect hurkacz to do well

It’s just the reality of his circumstances though, for the 6’1 to 6’3 tennis players, you should be expected to thrive on all surfaces as the big three have, you can move well and serve well and hit in all sorts of ways with variety. A bit shorter than that? You start to struggle a bit more on grass for lack of serving power and hitting power, a bit taller than that? You struggle a bit on clay for lack of movement as well as having grown a reliance on your serve. Of course it’s a very one dimensional look at the game and physically the last couple of years our tennis players have broken those stereotypes more than ever thanks to modern medicine and science etc. but still it applies to some extent

What a shake from Draper. Hubi found another surface with developed drop shots . I have never seen so many before . Hubi my little silent assassin. If he serves well he might go far far in this tournament

I'm pretty sure Hubi has upgraded that backhand because I don't remember it being that massive and consistent. Firing on all cylinders with multiple aspects of his game!

Backhand has always been his strong point, it’s just this year he’s trying to be more aggressive in general

Hurkacz keeps evolving his mobility and efficiency in each passing phase. Even though he never deliver a foolproof performance on the clay court, I can smoothly observe this steady advancement on this surface with his movement. I am certain that he will maintain his steadiness in the following appearances.

Hurkacz played a great match, but Draper's issue is that he was just trying to blast Hurkacz off the court with no variety (i.e., dropshots). Without dropshots keeping Hurkacz honest, Hurkacz was just able to fearlessly back up way behind the baseline and float the ball back with spin and depth until Draper missed. Trying to outhit a player like Hurkacz on a surface which takes all the pace off of the ball isn't going to work. Rublev had to learn that lesson when he was starting out and I think Draper's at that stage too.

Hubie could be 2 - 3 spots higher in the rankings if he really developed his net game. Given the power of his serve, a strong serve & volley combo from him would be super-effective. And he's so good from the baseline that he could really get maximum impact from adding an unexpected drop shot into the mix. Hubie's playing great, so happy for him.

I don't know how many Hubi's matches have you seen, but I've seen a lot of them and it's pretty obvious to me, that it's the other way around. He is too inconsistent from the baseline, especially his forehand breaks down frequently. He was fantastic today though.

lol what a bs assessment, Hubi is probably the best volleyer in the top 10. His issue mostly is his baseline game, mostly his forehand. Doesnt have enough weight on it.

I’ve watched a few of these game summaries with Draper and it seems he barely shakes hands with opponents when he loses. He doesn’t say anything, he doesn’t congratulate them. I understand he’s sad that he’s lost but you have to be gracious in defeat. I want him to win but I don’t like bad losers. I seriously hope I’m wrong and these were rare anomalies. Prove me wrong Jack, please!! You’re an amazing player.
