Huge EPIC Pre-order! Legions Imperialis Release Date Confirmed!

We finally have a pre-order date for Legions Imperialis and its going to be a massive day with tons of stuff going up alongside the starter set, and it will be a 2 week pre-order.
The original article (at the time of uploading this video) has an image of the starter set containing Kratos battle tanks, but this has been confirmed by GW to be incorrect and the article will be updated soon - there are no Kratos in the starter box. Here's a link to the announcement on WarCom:

So glad it is finally coming! Not super happy it’s coming out for preorder the same day the battleforces are up for preorder here in Japan, wish one of them had been pushed to December… 😫 oh well at least we can finally get our little marines! I’ll just get the core box for now, hopefully I won’t have a 6-8mm scale pile of shame like I do a 28mm one!

That’s my worry, a new pile of smaller scale shame 😂 I am determined to just get the marine half of the starter box done before I buy anything else. I’ll trade or sell the Solar Auxilia i think

Should be being re-boxed with the new ‘epic scale’ logo and coming very shortly, most likely in the second wave with the Spartan’s, Support boxes etc

Pricelist is just up on the GW trade website. All the individual boxes: the infantry, the rhinos, kratos and baneblades, are forty euros each (£30 on GW's standard conversion), and the big box is 155 euros. (which is the standard GW conversion from £120). That's definitely more than I was hoping the prices would be. Someone in the comments on Valark's video said the Baneblades would be £25 for two, and I was hoping they were wrong and the price would be lower. My FrostGrave wizards were eight 28mm models to a box for less than GW are charging for one Baneblade. I'm struggling a bit on that pricing. The baneblades are about 100 points in game. So you'd be looking at 600 euros for a 3000 point army. That's broadly the same as for most 40K armies, I guess. I'll think about it. Probably I'll still end up buying a box of the baneblades, but I'd say it's less likely I'll take it further than that.

To be honest the box at £120 is a surprise, I thought it would be more, and with a third party retailer it’s just less than £100 so I think i might treat myself. The rest of them are about what I expected going on some of the AI boxes with 4 aircraft in them, so it’s going to be a slow build for my epic army I think!

So someone pointed out the prices in the 2005 specialist games catalogue on solegends and I had a look at them and the Bank of England inflation calculator and remarkably the prices are essentially the same as they were in 2005, but with 18 years of inflation. The Baneblade was £9 then, inflation takes that to £15.21, they're being sold for £30 for two. The Rhinos then were 6 for £10, inflation takes the price of each Rhino to £2.82, now they will be £30 for 10. The infantry box about to be sold at £30 is a bit more complicated, but I price its contents at an inflation-adjusted £29.06 There has simply been a lot of inflation over the last couple of decades, although it's also true that I'd have expected plastic replacements for what were metal models in the past to be cheaper. So I do feel a bit better about the prices now.

Looking closely at the Legiones Astartes infantry sprue, and I can see you get 6 dudes with missile launchers, 6 terminators and 6 jump pack assault marines on each sprue. There are another three extra infantry models, above those that you need to put the 9 bases together for each sprue. It also looks like there are twice as many legs as you need for the dreadnoughts, unless each leg comes in two halves. I wonder whether some of these would look a bit better 3 or 4 to a base?

Not quite, sadly it’s set in the 30k era for now, takes a fair bit of inspiration from 2nd edition Space Marine, and some Epic Armageddon stuff in there too from the sounds of it. Hopefully it does well

Not gonna lie, by interest in this has totally vanished in the last few month or so, since the aborted first launch. I was very hyped for this when it was first announced, but now, I'm not really bothered.

I was afraid of that, hope that’s not the majority opinion but they’ve certainly not done themselves any favours by delaying it. On the the plus side, it’s going to be sticking around and not limited so hopefully if you change your mind you can still get it 🙂
