The milk lasts longer because its ultra pasteurized. As a household of two I only buy ultra pasteurized milk, regular milk would always spoil before I could use it all. It does cost more than regular milk though, but not when you consider having to buy more because the older milk spoiled.
@cookshackcuisinista2 жыл бұрын
Regular milk can be removed from the plastic container before the best before date and put into clean glass jars and put into the back of the fridge and you'll get an extra 3 weeks of deliciousness minimum! I have been doing this for years. If it happens to spoil, this makes the best biscuits, sour milk gingerbread, chocolate cake....etc
@anaalves36582 жыл бұрын
I just freeze it when I buy it and defrost it as we need it. But I don't live in the USA, so maybe our milk processing is different 🤷. We also don't have such big containers. Everything is in a 1 litre container.

My favourite line was when you said ‘I don’t need milk, but for this price, I needed milk’. It’s such a great concept to stock up when it’s on sale, so when you need it, it’s not full price. Feeling the price hikes in NZ. Summer veggies were double the price, frozen blueberries have gone up a third......

This video was nice. I’ve learned that with inflation going on, I need to organize my food a LOT and be very mindful of prices and how many ways can I use One meat source. I recently printed out a “freezer inventory list” and it helps a lot! I love It! With 2 chest freezers in the basement, it’s easy for items to fall to the bottom and get lost! I just Hang up the list on the freezer and check off as we go. I also now think about : ex- I bought A pack of chicken breasts. I can make chicken Alfredo, chicken noodle soup, casseroles, chicken stir fry, chicken enchiladas( insert Forest Gump scene 😆). But seriously, that’s what I do And it helps!

My Kroger stopped discounting the salad kits and other prepared produce items on the day I usually go grocery shopping and it has made be very sad. I need to figure out which day they are doing it on now. Gah! But, to cheer me up, I scored big time in the shelf-stable clearance section at my Kroger. They had multiple carts filled with discounted Chunky Campbell's soups. Say what?! Normal price for each can is usually around $3 - - - I paid only 90 cents for each can!!! WHAT?! Let's just say - I stocked up! Thank you for being my inspiration for hunting down those clearance items! :)
