What was the point of swapping tanks if you removed the sump? Pointless and you're just going to run into the same problems.

I think you’re going to regret blocking off the sump, a gate valve and in to some soft plumbing would of sorted that no problem at all. I’ve had this tank and managed to get it running silent. The filter overflow you’ve made won’t be efficient enough in my opinion compared to a sump. Take your time, don’t rush for KZfaq as people can wait! and get the plumbing set up! You can do it and will prefer a sump for sure!!! :)

Silicon can easily be removed. Not the end of the world.

Honestly this is not a criticism but I really think you should stop and re-evaluate as this could end up worse than the tank you closed down! Personally I don’t like this tank as it’s too small and the overflow box takes up too much space and won’t offer much space for corals or fish, I think you’d be better off with a 3ft tank like a Reefer 250 etc.. but that’s just my opinion. However if you must keep this tank take note of what everyone is saying and use the sump in conjunction with a gate valve to silence it. Really wish you luck Corey 🤞👍

@@coreywillard9250 a friend of mine had this tank and all you have to do really is a gate valve and maybe some soft tubing for plumbing and dial in the return pump best to reduced the gurgling noise and look on KZfaq for how to get rid of gurgling there’s plenty of videos on how to and trust me you won’t regret using the sump as it is going to make your tank wayyyy mor stable

I think you're gonna have to rely on chemical bacteria for nitrate and phosphate controls on this tank.. Personally, I feel it needs a bigger skimmer and also how would your put filter pads to capture any detritus or waste as water goes in for filtration? Curious to see how this will work Bigger tanks require more filtration right? This game is about keeping water stable. Not criticising, just curious!

Can’t help but think you might regret getting rid of the sump, I thought the problem with your last tank was trying to do to much without a proper filtration setup. Might be ok if you are religious with water changes.

Its all about keeping one of the drains completely under water and then a slight trickle down a second drain. I think you've made a mistake with removing the sump but its entirely up to you and its only my opinion. I am all about DIY and making it what you want so I look forward to seeing what you do with it next

@@bopeep7806 then utilise the return hole and make that a second drain and run the return up the back of the tank and drill a hole near the top or come over the top. Yea a single drain sounds like a nightmare

Few negative comments here, which is all good to see what other peoples opinions are but will be doing a video upload this week on my channel to let you know my thoughts on this tank as there is a lot more explaining to be done to the reasons behind what has been done to this set up.

Gutted for you pal as know you were pleased to be getting sumped system but will leave you plenty of space to grow in the hobby as you get older - I fully expect to see a video in 10 years of you setting up a 900xl ;) Best of luck

No offense. I just think about it like that. You have bought yourself such a beautiful cube, do your own thing and put it into operation as it is intended. Just think about filter fleece, coal, ect ... you will save yourself a lot of stress in the future and there will definitely be a way to get the whole thing quiet. See it as a challenge 😉 Greetings Pat

Can't help you with the sump(been 20 years since I have used one) but if you have a problem, you should put it out here or on instagram if you have it and there are a bunch of people to help you out.

I can tell you a trick to silence a drain but it wont stop the levels changing, put a mesh guard off a gyre on to top of pipe it silences the noise mate just check it regularly to make sure it doesnt get blocked up

I'll tell you why your water level kept fluctuating. The intake and outlet flow rate was not balanced. If you kept the gate valve constant it has to be that jacod 2500, unless there is a leak ? I had the exact same issue with the exact same pump on this aquarium, ruled out leaks and didn't touch the gate valve, yet I could watch my water level fluctuate like a yoyo, changed the pump to a TMC reef connect 2500, water level is steady... Try it buddy, with the TMC pump, get that sump working sweet.

Had the same issue. I put a valve on the return to help control the pumps fluctuates of speed.
