To sit in your garden has got to be the most wonderful, relaxing, satisfying place to be, I just love the flush look of it all AND most everything is edible. Your flowers, bushes and trees are all so beautiful during the spring and summer months with gorgeous blossoms, then comes the summer flush of veggies, ah yes! Seeing a good haven for beneficial insects is amazing. Your hard work has really paid off plus the encouragement you give others as an example of how it can be done. Good job and great video Kaye.....ps: I LOVE watermelon too, yum. It's great to see you bend and stretch your body after a few major setbacks this past year........Kaye is darn near good to go!!!! :-) God Bless.

It certainly can be. The second metal chair broke and is not fixable (cheap import), so I'm trying to decide what's best. I want a more comfortable seat in my garden, so I can enjoy it. Thanks for your warm support and love, I need and appreciate it!! Thursday we had a major irrigation leak, so things are amiss in the LB garden. Will have to hose and hand water till the end of October at least, which is going to be time consuming. But, there are moments when it feels so right, even though I'm tired, on Thursdays when the work for the day is done and things look pretty. God bless you! 💖

Beautiful shots of your amazing garden. Your garden is living proof that you do not need much space to create a gorgeous, biodiverse, paradise of flowers, fruits, vegies, & herbs. It is truly amazing and inspiring. We southern girls are strong women who need little, but watermelon is a necessity of life, even if it has to be sourced from the dreaded grocery store ; ))
@Latebloomershow

Thank you, Laurie! It's challenging, to say the least, of filming while we are working and trying to accomplish so much. I spent at least an hour just adjusting the exposure on all the clips. With the sun moving, the camera moving and us moving, haha, very challenging, but the audience for this playlist seems to be growing, so it's worth it to continue. This past Thursday, though, was a little different, as you will see in an upcoming video. Yes, several have confirmed it is a sweet pea. It's only had the one bloom so far, so we will see. I'm told they are highly susceptible to mildew, though.

Hi Kaye. Your little pink flower is an everlasting sweet pea (in the UK we call the ornamental varieties "sweet" peas) lathyrus latifolius - probably. It is a perennial, almost certainly. Hope that might help. Pouring with rain here in the UK. The heat wave has broken!! Gilly x

Such a productive work day! The striped tomatoes make me think of Chocolate Stripe or Tigerella. Your “weed” really does look like a sweet pea! Is that possible?! Are you blessed with “wild” sweet peas popping up?! What does the flower smell like? So happy to see you didn’t suffer losses w/the roof squash. It’s easy to forget how tough & resilient they are when fighting bugs & diseases on them, but they really are fighters! Well, I’m off to water & see if there’s wildfire ash to wash off the plants. Thanks for sharing another wonderful work day w/us! Take care my dear.
@Latebloomershow
@Latebloomershow 6 жыл бұрын
And you could tell I was beat. Oh, how close are you to wildfires??? The potash will be good for your garden, I suppose. I have another short video coming tomorrow. I'm on a roll and hope to get a few more videos done before my trip to MN on the 23rd. I guess, based on you and others below, that is a sweet pea, though the leaves were different. The blooms are done, so I'm not sure what to do with it. Cut back or pull out? Or maybe it will set more blooms? Never had them. Take care, too! I'm thinking I should come and see you. Can you email me when you get a chance? Send me a note through my contact page on my website. There's a hotlink to my website in the description or an icon on channel homepage.

Kaye Kittrell | Late Bloomer Urban Organic Garden Show Indeed, you did work hard again. It was a good night’s sleep I’m sure! You’re traveling again?! It’s so awesome that you see so much of the country. Make sure to bring a heating pad for your back to help soothe those traveling pains. Hoping you’re feeling better! With the Maybe-It’s-A-Sweetpea, I say deadhead spent growth, give it some love & see if it can stay. It’s kind of an unusual plant to appear from nowhere! Unfortunately, we’re only 2-3 hrs away from the Mendocino Complex Fire, officially the biggest fire in state history. The smoke & ash settle in our valley. It’s been so bad on some days the sun is blocked out. Sometimes you can see the ash floating down. I touch my plants & white ash poofs into the air. When the winds come up, it blows it out decently so it’s just a thick haze, but it’s back thick very quickly if the wind dies down. Friday evening, shortly after replying to you on the Onze vid, a fire started in the hills of the next town, approx 14 miles away from us. Within a few short hrs it was in our city limits only a couple miles from our house. We had friends on evac standby, electrical was failing in neighborhoods closer to the fire. It was so close to our house that the sky went dark, the air turned acrid & burned my throat & eyes. We had no idea what direction the fire could go, if it could head our way. We always have wind @ some time during the day here. Well, by the grace of God the wind turned off when the fire got here. Like someone flipped an off switch! Not 1 leaf was moving. I’ve never seen it so still here. It’s what kept the fire from spreading into the neighborhoods. I was so scared. It’s the closest we’ve ever been to a fire. Luckily, no one lost anything, no one got hurt. Our SPCA was right @ the fire line & they rushed all the animals to safety & our firefighters saved the building! It’s been a dark, sad summer in central & Nor Cal. I would love to meet you! Pbly have to wait until next year or @ least fall this year, that is if you’re not busy for the rest of this year w/more travels.The air here is very bad now. Coupled w/the triple digit heat, it’s not been enjoyable to be outside for too long. Everyone is having issues w/their sinuses & breathing. In addition to the Mendocino fires, Shasta Co has a huge fire that I think has been contributing to our smoke even though they’re much further away. Cal Fire & out of state firefighters are making progress on the fires, but they’ve gotta ways to go on containment. And we won’t be outta fire season til around end of October. Sometimes we get fires up here til then. We need a good early fall rain! Anyway, I will try the link & message you my info soon. I rambled again. So sorry!

You never need to apologize! It's good for me and others to know of the very real dangers threatening our existence. The topic of how and why things are heating up and generally hotter than ever in recorded history are long and complex, and none of us can afford to be complacent. Yes, I will definitely put off a visit till things cool and moisten down. 💖

I am in SW Ohio, it is very humid here in the summer. I have not had a problem with mildew on them, they are growing along the driveway, with full sun until after 1pm. There is plenty of air movement also. Mine are pink, but I have a white one that just showed up this year. Spontaneous mutation or a hybrid of some kind. They are very pretty. My husband hates them because they are vines and look unkempt. But I wont let him get rid of them!

I got the smaller cages from the 99 Cents store in L.A. They don't always have them, and I made a few trips to collect them all. Once one of my viewers found them online. I don't have a link now. I reuse them from season to season. You buy them flat and assemble. There are many brands of cloth pots now and I have used several.
