Louis Makepeace is a TikTok creator and car salesman who has dwarfism.
The LADbible audience anonymously submitted questions they've always wondered or wouldn't dare to usually ask about dwarfism... and we've put them into our Honesty Box for Louis to answer.
Louis clears up whether people should bend down to talk to someone with dwarfism, how he feels about a remake of Snow White And The Seven Dwarves and why a certain scene in The Wolf Of Wall Street was problematic for people like him.
00:00 - 00:25 Introduction
00:25 - 00:58 What is dwarfism and what causes it?
00:58 - 01:19 Should people bend down to talk to you?
01:19 - 01:56 Can you say the word 'midget'?
01:56 - 03:19 Should we be remaking Snow White And The Seven Dwarves?
03:19 - 04:45 Does dwarfism cause any pain?
04:45 - 06:20 Do you only date other dwarves?
06:20 - 07:14 Is all your furniture smaller or custom-made?
07:14 - 08:20 Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa, discuss.
08:20 - 09:43 Will you have kids and can you pass your dwarfism on to them?
09:43 - 10:55 What is the hardest thing you have to deal with?

He just shows he’s just a young lad who is in love with his woman, living life to the full and the best of all “he’s a party guy” just like any other young bloke who is out to enjoy himself. Good luck, good health and wishing only the best of futures in life.👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻

In the frame of mind that a couple with dwarfism having children would be considered selfish, the same would go for any couple with family history of cancer, sclerosis, diabetes, alcoholism, below average mental capacity, osteoporosis etc etc. So no, ignoring eugenic ideals is of course not selfish
@josereposo7043
@josereposo7043 3 ай бұрын
Risking a 1 in 4 chance of a life (~12 months) full of suffering for another person - your own child nontheless - because you (and/or your partner) want one "of your own" absolutely lacks any consideration for that other person, which is the literal definition of selfishnes. Not to mention the implicit statement that having biological children is in some way better to adopting a baby. Even at the 50% (!) risk of giving them a life long disability... Don't cry eugenics. No one is imposing legal restrictions on reproduction because we all thing that is at least as troublesome as having children with high risks of health problems... Sure, you can go ahead and selfishly risk bringing an ill child to the world, but don't try to prevent us from judging your bad and honestly inmoral judgement.

@@ij1376how? This is a person being honest about how when they grew up they used a different term and unaware they should no longer use and and was happy to learn. Thats progress and awareness. I also grew up when some words my parents used are not acceptable in today’s world. I didn’t know that as a child. And they also didn’t know. This is exactly why these videos are important. My parents learned from theirs. Just because that happened doesn’t make me someone “at square one”. It’s makes me and someone who wrote this comment people who have had to unlearn and learn again. Thats no one’s fault but our parents and their parents and their parents and so on. This is just how humans evolve.

I disagree with him about having children. I have dwarfism as well. Incest is banned because it carries risk of disability and deformity and that chance is lower than with dwarfism. He just said he is in pain. Then there is the issue of the world being tailored to average height people, which isn't something that will ever change and then there are also societal attitudes, which can change, but currently are still discriminatory. So if your child has a 75% chance to either end up dead or with a severe physical disability then yes, that is incredibly selfish. We used a sperm donor because I have dwarfism and my wife is ofnormal height and this guy says he would take a 25% chance of his child dying. Plenty of people cannot have children at all and opt for adoption or sperm/egg donation. To forego that because you want your child to have your own genes is just disgusting.

I had a friend who had a form of dwarfism but was still normal height (I'm not sure which, I never asked, and he never mentioned it). He had a lot of health problems, though. He was always hunched over, he had open heart surgery as a child, and had to have multiple surgeries, including having a cornea transplant from a deceased person so he could keep from going blind. I'm sure there was a lot more to it, but I didn't like to ask. I knew he got it enough from everyone else and if he wasn't okay, I would probably know.

I hope Louis takes this in the positive spirit in which it's intended but, if someone were to see you in difficulty in an everyday situation, as a result of your height, would you welcome an offer of help or would you prefer to be left to resolve the issue yourself in your own time? As a typical man, I would tend towards the latter, even though it would probably be more effective to swallow my pride and accept any help that was to be offered! With many thanks from one man to another!

Well, as a dwarf or little person, getting one of a the few roles in a legendarily popular movie like Wonka, written specifically for people like you, I would understand the feeling of being slighted. Pretending that taking the role of a dwarf or little person in a movie somehow trivializes or minimizes the life of that actor is asinine. Tall, short, white, black, intellectual abilities, and physical abilities all DO identify us. Saying a dwarf shouldn’t take the role as an oompa loompa is akin to telling Michael Jordan not to take his first NBA contract.
@jjc8409
@jjc8409 3 ай бұрын
What I think he means is its prolonging a stereotype and meaning that people only see actors with dwarfism in those kinds of roles in fantasy etc. The world needs to see people with dwarfism in other roles too. So there are more career possibilities for those with dwarfism and to represent the real world in film so there’s less ignorance.
@DownEastSaw
@DownEastSaw 2 ай бұрын
@@jjc8409 ok, it was considered wrong for women to be barred from acting while all female roles were played by men. How would it not be wrong for average sized people to be playing the only roles in Hollywood specifically written for little people/dwarves/etc? Maybe we should have dwarves play women and men play dwarves and women play men?

I disagree with the custom made furniture thing. I'm taller than average, especially than what's considered the average height for regular furniture, and it's annoying to have to bend around all the time, so I have made my furniture to fit my height. Aside from the budget issue he raises, it's normal to adapt your environment to you in the one place where you can do it, and I tend to avoid places that have tiny tables, tiny this, or places where things just don't fit me being taller. there is no point in going around hurting my back all the time because I need to bend excessively if I can avoid it. It's just normal to want to tailor your own space for you, whatever your needs and requirements are.

It's always strange how certain words start to become offensive (or go from being offensive to losing their sting.). It often varies from one country to the next - even if we speak the same language. I still remember when midget was considered polite - or, at least neutral. I think it's a little odd that dwarf is considered okay in the UK. To my ears, it sounds worse - given all the ways it's been used to describe fabtastical creatures in fairy tales.

The question, by the very fact that it is being asked, is questioning what is the right thing to do in this situation. Having a biological child in general is an act of selfishness. And in my opinion, having any kind of condition, whether it be mental or physical, especially with genetic traits, and then imposing life on this earth, is extra selfish. I wish people would be more open to adoption if they would want to have children, I’m sure there are plenty of children that come from broken homes and are in foster care or something that would love to have two loving parents, no matter if they both have dwarfism or not, or whether they are related or not. But other than that, seems like a nice dude and I wish him all the best in life.

Nobody should be abused for what they are. Nobody chooses to be a dwarf or 6 foot tall, nobody chooses to be beautiful or ugly, nobody chooses to be born into a rich family or a poor family, and nobody chooses the country they are born in. Judge people for how they act. If they are a dick, judge them for that, if they are kind, judge them for that. Sizeism, racism, sexism, homophobia, jingoism, xenophobia etc. are the scourge of this planet.

In Snow White, the dwarfs are actually the heroes and loving friends of Snow White. *As a child, this installed the perception to value people with dwarfism just as any others.* It's unfortunately more cancel culture with the way the remake has been cast and eliminates these characters in their true and intended roles.
