The 2019 GRENKE Chess Classic is a 10-player round-robin held in Germany from 22-29 April. The first 3 rounds are in Karlsruhe alongside the GRENKE Chess Open, then after two additional rounds in Karlsruhe and a rest day the last 4 rounds are in the Kulturhaus LA8 in Baden-Baden. The field features World Champion Magnus Carlsen and fellow Top 10 players Fabiano Caruana, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Vishy Anand and Levon Aronian.
The time control is 100 minutes for 40 moves, then 50 minutes for 20 moves and then 15 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment from move 1. If players are tied for first place a rapid play-off will take place. Official website: www.grenkechessclassic.com

@RealCurrencies 5 жыл бұрын
I agree with Joe. Rivalry is not really the right word. Magnus always respected Anand, but he also knew he was going to be his successor, and more, because even then he knew he would dominate for at least ten years. A rivalry is more between equals, Anand had his prime before Magnus had matured. When he did, it was pretty much clear to all how things would go.

What goes wrong if, on move 56, Carlsen takes queen d6 instead of going e2? Force the knight to take back, eventually take e5 and push for advantage on the king side?

Is g6 a good move instead of retreating with the queen on - 8:15 ?

Man, it looks like the e4 pawn was hanging for a while. What line was protecting it all this time before Qd6?

Hello everyone ! I don't understand why the line with the king move is so good for carlsen (at 13.20), because the move doesn t change anything for the bishups later...
