The Who, Humble Pie were all great bands and some of my all time favourites pre punk and i loved the Animals too, a very under rated band and Eric Burdon was another great singer who never got anywhere near the recognition he deserved. Rory Gallagher was another who was red hot live, all should be in the rock and roll hall of fame.

Rory was one of a kind. No one like him. Out on the desert Plains...

Old soul, Steve Marriott. Only 27 here. Not a great recording but they sound great! Steve is a great lead player, but his power chords are also awesome!

I agree he was such a talent. He was actually 25 here or possibly 24 as I know because he was only 19 when making Ogden s nut flake for the small faces .The recent book in people s words is really good , reveals a lot of Steve's destructive life and the good side of him.

One of the best live bands ever. The Free manchester gig is one I love , even if it was made for TV. Marriott and Rodgers were the unique voices for me , sad I wasn't there those days, too young.

Humble Pie were brilliant but The Who blew them to smithereens

I absolutely respect your opinion but completely different styles of Rock n Roll. FYI...A Quick One While He's Away is my fave Who song.😎🤘

I saw them both in '74 or '75 at Charlton. Absolutely no way the Who blew Humble Pie to smithereens. Many thought that this performance was Humble Pie's. They started with Whatcha Gonna Do About it, an old Small Faces song, that had been getting a lot of replay by some of the younger groups coming up like the Clash. They kicked ass - as did the Who - but no way did the Who blow them out of the water that day. (And I'm not comparing the Who & HP - HP was awesome on stage but clearly didn't have the albums or Pete Townshend's writing).

@@jimmickg It was '74 and you're bang on with that comment. I remember Steve Marriott bopping across the stage as they opened with Whatcha Gonna Do About It. They were on immaculate form that day and whilst I was a Who fan to the nth degree no way did they out class Humble Pie. They raised the whole atmosphere of the place so much so that it was pretty impossible for any band to have bettered their performance. The Who were indeed great but 'blew them to smithereens'? - I think not.
