Very informative. I hope this is only part 1 of the Lagun project. Part 2 might be the table top. So many things you can do with the top. Example, truncate all 4 corners a little, to facilitate manoeuvrability in tight spaces, and also to lessen the chances of " stabbing" oneself with a sharp corner. Also, by using special hinges, usually on the long sides, you can fold one or more sides of the table top over, to reduce it's footprint. Another useful feature I have seen, is the installation of a little lip around the edges of the top, to prevent things from sliding off. Leave a gap in the corners for brushing out the crumbs from your morning toast. I love these tables so much, that I have three complete kits installed in my MWB Sprinter. I only have one table top, which I relocate to each position to suit my needs at the time. Stay well, and we all look forward to many more entertaining and informative episodes in 2019.

After many forays into looking for a cheaper Lagun table copy and even DIY versions, I came to the conclusion this is a piece of design art and nothing comes close to it in form or function. Wonderful design concept! George what a nice job you did of dealing with that awkward hardware sticking out, then covering up the L brackets with carpet, then leaving it as a modular top you can remove. Amazing! Looks so nice now. Your house must be like Inspector Gadget's place.

After I saw your video from last March showing the Legun table in the 2018 Pleasure-Way vans at the Tampa RV Show, I did a search and immediately bought one for my 2015 PW Lexor. I installed it on the ottoman just like the PW featured in the video. I liked it so much I bought another mount with the longer leg and installed it near the swivel front seats. It is a very useful table. It sure beats having that old pole leg mount sticking up from the floor.
@thoughtsinpassing2968
@thoughtsinpassing2968 5 жыл бұрын
I see on the 2019 PW has the Lagun table in Lexor FL, which I loved the fact the table in the back can be raised to act as a stove counter top extension, but I want the PW TS and it does have a lagun table at the back, but does not have a table at the front and I had planned to attach one to the closet wall behind the driver's seat to be available when desired in the front. I am so happy to hear you put one up front and you have found it to be useful. The Legun Table is the best thing for efficiency since sliced bread. Thank you for sharing.

Thoughts In Passing I attached the mount in front to the carpeted plywood black tank cover in back of the drivers seat. Also used the longer size Lagun table leg so the height is correct for the swivel passenger seat.

@@2675142 Yes the mounting leg is adjustable and the top will swivel next to the counter. Lagun sells a longer leg as well, I bought two mounts so I can have a table in the front of my van and one in the back at the same time.

The Lagun table support is a great idea executed with a flaw that will result in a drooping table arm. The cause is the combination of two design choices. The swing arm has a wall thickness of about 1/8 inch. The bushing in the arm is made of plastic that is quite flexible and somewhat soft. The problem is that load on the arm concentrates all of the pressure at1/8 inch on each end of of the bushing in the arm. we have lived on our RV for an extended period of time and have seen the droop problem worsen over time laguna says limit the load to 60 lbs including table top and whatever is on it. They further state that if you accidentally lean on it the arm will droop. This could largely be resolved by using a hard bushing material that will not deform or "cold flow" over time as you use the table support. Lagun refused to provide any warranty support.

I am very glad you showed this mod. I have an 2007 Airstream Interstate (which has the fridge and micro in the right place and no bathroom sink!). The only problem has been making the bed. I have to pull out a very heavy tabletop from under the bed and it is precarious with a bad back. I had decided to go with two pieces of plywood to span the gap. I had decided to make one of those as part of a Lagun and the other for a cutting board. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this as I contemplate where/how to mount in my MH. I am planning to put an additional mount up front so I can use the tabletop when the passenger seat is swiveled. Maybe the cutting board piece will become a second Lagun!

If anyone is looking for a DIY option to the Lagun. One can use 3/4" black/galvanized pipe in 1" . Or use 1" Black/Galvanized pipe in 1 1/4" PVC/ABS and some pipe straps to hold pvc pipe vertical on something. The 1" pipe has a vertical that sits in the pvc pipe, then a regular 90deg then a horizontal section then a street elbow turned up to the pipe flange on the table top.

Hi Humble 👋 The Lagun table mount I bought from a UK Marine Supply place came with a backer support plate for the mounting plate. Didn’t yours? The wonderful previous owner of Bertie made me a custom table top from leftover ikea cutting board style countertop he had used in the kitchen. We didn’t have the Lagun hdw yet so were guessing. Too big to swing away in a 90 degree corner and too heavy when you want to remove table entirely. Master woodworker also had some challenges with figuring out size and angles as well. It is doable - just not there. Love the technology. Got an extra mounting plate for ??? Kinda silly on a fg trailer...duh... I thought you sounded congested in the RV vids. Hope you’re on the mend now! 🤒
@HumbleRoad
@HumbleRoad 5 жыл бұрын
Yes I have the backer board. But I intend to build a furniture style dresser for this spot and I will try to bury the legun armature inside the dresser so it is hidden. That is when things will get detailed. Here, I just knew I had to have a place to access my camera equipment for the Tampa Show.

Good timing. I was about to mount a Lagun in my 2016 PW Lexor on the other ottoman. The cardboard table top template is a good idea. I need to put a 2 inch wood spacer between the bracket and ottoman in order to clear the cushion overhang. But do you think I can find 3.5 inch bolts with the same head as Lagun supplies? Those oval tapered heads are quite the specialty item and no one in my city carries them that long (including Lagun). I'll need to go with rounded heads and washers instead.
@HumbleRoad
@HumbleRoad 5 жыл бұрын
You need the longer bolts because you are using a solid 2 inch spacer. Consider using heavy duty C-channel or angle iron. Bolt the C-channel to the van box then bolt the legun plate to the C-channel.

I would be very interested in a report on the durability of the Lagun table...obviously somewhere down the road. I know another RVer who put one in and it has already failed, the table wobbles. I haven't seen one in person, but from the videos, the vertical post has a plastic piece at the top that the horizontal arm fits on, and in this other user's case, that plastic bit wore away so that the table wobbled. I am not suggesting this is common, but I would appreciate an update on the Lagun table system a few months down the road.

Glad i had a flu shot! 😄 about your table. Some months back i was impressed with that table. I was going to order one. Some personal issues came up and i temporarily stopped remodeling the inside of my van. But i recently came across a usee of that table. His results were disastrous. After a short time of installation...2-6 months (i dont really remember) the table plvot point basically failed. So much slop developed in the pivot...rendering the tabke basically useless. Its the exact same table as yours. Now...i dont say any of this for criticism. I mention it as information. The question i have is...is the pivot junk? Does it need grease? Is too much force applied to the pivot? So i put a red flag on my order of said table. I an watching what results you get. Good luck. Add edit. Said table was being used 24-7. Owner is a full time rv'er.

@HumbleRoad
@HumbleRoad 5 жыл бұрын
Oh without lubrication, you would definitely be stressing the mechanism. I could see that immediately as I began positioning it. But those parts are individual and most likely can be reordered if necessary. One other high caution; very important to get that mounting plate square and plumb! Or the table will tilt exponentially . Don't ask me how I know this!

I have a question why did you choose that table surface with the slats? Lightness? Looks? You’re a designer so I assume there is a reason😉

This modification was done for a specific filming trip to Florida. Primarily to house my camera gear underneath. Temporary, so I used a table I had in the garage from IKEA. I will be re-doing that area this season where I build a dresser in that spot.

Is there a locking mechanism that keeps your table from moving all over the place when driving. I am sure there is, but I am not very knowledgeable, or skilled in mechanical things. Great video as always. I am skilled at eating. lol

You are correct. There are two threaded lock down handles. One at each swivel point. And of course, one more to adjust the height..

Can you sit on the table? Does it take the weight?
@HumbleRoad
@HumbleRoad 4 жыл бұрын
No you cannot sit on the table! It's a dual pivot table! There is next to no rigidity. Who sits on tables? Chairs, benches, couches are for sitting. No table for you! (Soup Nazi)

How does this not interfere with sleeping when the couch becomes a bed? Table idea is great other than that issues I can't see past.

If you imagine the fully deployed bed area divided into thirds, a couple only needs the two thirds on the patio side. Although you still have all of the bed width, side to side for your upper body. Before this mod, I had a dresser occupying the same area on the opposite side for quite a while, really no problem sleeping, plenty of room.

Keith McKelvey ah good point, always something else to consider.. though I know for fact that he “H.R.” has considered this throughly and will have an answer. He like myself try to see all outcomes before committing to any addition, new build, or redesign idea!

Humble Road Ha! See beat me to the point.. HR might you have a video in the mix that shows the bed in sleeping position, I’m still struggling with the bed layout design for my FT and love the cozy space you have there in your P.W. RV. (And that screen door!) still loving that addition!

Bringing the bed down wouldn't the brackets be in the way?

I lower the couch down until it just barely kisses the upright support. It leaves the slightest incline on the couch back at the top of the bed, where your head goes. It's not a problem.
