Electric vehicles will be a novelty, and fossil fuel dominance is here to stay for many decades to come! The electric grid will need to be multiplied with many more power plants added. Do the math! Electric vehicles take a lot of electricity to charge. They’ll have to reduce the population by 75% .

$500 a month isn't a lot of money to rely on and your dividends shouldn't be taken out of your portfolio but reinvested. Your securities would appreciate much faster. For example, no matter how the market performs, you'll always receive nore shares each year when you reinvest.

Rate cuts commence in June 2024, taking 6-8 months to complete. A potential crash, if any, might occur by March 2025. The soft landing narrative is gaining traction, making this big recession everyone is calling for less likely. With $1 million from a business sale, I'm seeking profitable investment opportunities for the next 3 years.

The financial market is a reliable choice. Diversify your portfolio with I-bonds, stocks (ETFs, REITs, dividend-paying stocks), and bitcoin. Given your budget, I recommend hiring a fiduciary to ensure you receive professional insights for a fee.

Due to my demanding job, I lack the time to thoroughly assess my investments and analyze individual stocks. Consequently, for the past seven years, I have enlisted the services of a fiduciary who actively manages my portfolio to adapt to the current market conditions. This strategy has allowed me to navigate the financial landscape successfully, making informed decisions on when to buy and sell. Perhaps you should consider a similar approach.

My dividend journey began when I realized that two particular expenses in my budget were always going to go up and never go down. The two expenses were taxes and insurance. I realized that the dramatic rise in both will need some added income. So, I started buying shares paying dividends. I can now see that this will be the path I need to take to make sure those two expenses will not overtake my future income.

As a beginner, educate yourself, Learn the basics of investing and the stock market. There are many resources available online, including books, articles, and online courses. It’s a good idea to diversify your portfolio across different stocks and sectors to minimize risk. I’ve heard of people accruing over $550k during recessions and inflation, its important to do your own research.

Yes, I've been in constant touch with a Financial Analyst for approximately 8 months. You know, these days it's really easy to buy into trending stocks, but the task is determining when to sell or keep. I started investing because I liked the extra money from stock dividends. The key, in my opinion, is to make enough money through both investing and dividends, so you can live off the dividends without selling anything. This way, you might pass on this financial advantage to your kids. I've put more than $600K into dividend stocks over the years, and I'm still buying more, planning to keep going until prices drop more.

Hearing from an experienced investor who has survived the crisis and prospered is always comforting. It could be worrisome when your portfolio goes from green to red, but if you have invested in strong firms, you should just keep growing them and stick to your goal.

I wholeheartedly concur, which is why I appreciate giving an investment coach the power of decision-making. Given their specialized expertise and education, as well as the fact that each and every one of their skills is centered on harnessing risk for its asymmetrical potential and controlling it as a buffer against certain unfavorable developments, it is practically impossible for them to underperform. I have made over 1.5 million dollars working with an investment coach for more than two years.

I like investing in close-end funds that pay monthly dividends. The trick is to hold long term and reinvest the monthly dividends plus buy more shares on a monthly basis or when ever you can afford to. This can be easily done because close-end funds are bought and sold on the stock market just like regular stock. That’d be enough to create a portfolio that would pay you between $50k to $70k in dividend income

Didn't Charlie Munger and Warren Buffett invent the strategy of buying/investing when the market is low and also buying/investing when the market is high? I went on Robinhood to buy some of the stocks you mentioned but did estimations on each of those stocks if I bought $100K for each of them. It turns out that none of those dividends beat the return of 4.4% return from the cash account. I realize that I would miss out on the gains and the dividends, especially from the VOO ETF, but with the market up in the air I stand to lose a lot too. Wouldn't it be better to hold onto the 4.4% until there's some solid ground under the market?

Something I'll be waiting for. US pharma stocks are generally quite good, but there is one underlying concern I have with them as to why I am reluctant to put money into them - predominantly because I'm not certain how long the US will continue to have a heavily privatised healthcare industry. Everywhere else on earth has a health service, while the US uniquely has a health sector, and I think it's an inevitability that the US will eventually shift toward a similar model reflecting what almost every other country in the world has; I'm just not sure when this would happen.

Series 1 Bonds are currently at 9.62%. Ally Bank is currently at 2.10% APY. Have to have cash on side for scenarios like this. Where at least 100% of your money isnt losing to inflation. I have about 40k (dropped from 50k+) invested. $20k in "cash" (bank) but have it in two different banks (2.10% and 2.50%) while yes this money is at risk to surely lose to inflation, at a time like this the cash on side is not only leverage to seize an opportunity if one to arise, but also cuts my loss that my portfolio is currently seeing. In short most people are not only losing 10% to inflation but more due to unrealized losses. While im also losing im not losing to the full extent most are. I can put 10k in Series 1 rn if I wished and would not lose to inflation, but this is where opportunity cost comes in. Have to wait a bit to see if a good opportunity arises...

When oil went negative, I jumped into XLE at around $22 per share, the dividend was a monster and even though it was way off, the companies behind it were quality, fast forward it trades between $80-$92 so got a huge boost, but the original investment is making roughly 17% in dividends or something around that. Sometime timing is the difference maker and it takes experience to recognize the oversold

I know oil isn't going away anytime soon, but considering the auto industry is headed toward EVs over the next 10 years, shouldn't we be investing in the big electric utilities that also pay good dividends? Just curious what your thoughts are.

Looks like a pretty well rounded portfolio, but I think you should really look at some energy stocks for dividends. Some are SO, AEP, DUK, ED, all pay a nice dividend and tend to swing up when the market is doing poorly. People like to hide in these until the market swings back.

Really good video Henry, and I'd like to add that 55% of PepsiCo's 2021 revenue (sales) were from food! And that Lay's is far and away the leading potato chip brand, with a 29.6% market share compared to Pringles at 9.6%. And, they are a DIVIDEND KING (50 straight years of dividend growth).

Great video, my only critique is saying Home Depot and lowes are there only two home improvement stores. Here in the Midwest we also have Menards and fleet farm. They definitely are smaller, but in Mn, menards has as big, if not bigger presence than either HD or low. So it does depend on where you live, (obviously, I know) 🤣

Hi, I have a question. When is a good time to buy dividend stocks? Is that just after the dividend payment or just before? De broker is planning to pay my dividends again soon. Is it better to wait to buy dividend shares after it is paid or not? Love your videos. Gr. Michael
@nedcpa
@nedcpa Жыл бұрын
It does not make any difference. Around the dividend payment date, the stock exchange typically adjusts the price of a stock to account for the payment of the dividend. When a company pays a dividend to its shareholders, it is essentially returning a portion of its profits to them, which reduces the value of the company. This can cause the stock price to fall, as the company's overall value has decreased.

Building out a solid dividend portfolio is something I plan on doing in the future when I’m more focused on passive income. Right now while I’m young I am mainly focused on building my wealth and investing in myself while setting myself up for retirement in the background through my 401k and Roth. I think your portfolio will shift with you as your life stage changes, and that’s the beautiful thing about investing. This was a great video Humphrey and thanks for the ideas!!

What would make more sense is if you can put out the % we can get as dividend amount based on the total dollar amount. When you say 500 per month, what % is that of the total you have invested? 10% or ??

@f.w.1318 Жыл бұрын
If he is investing in companies that have dividend yields that pay at 3 to 4 percent, you would have to be at least 190K invested to get you that 500 monthly income, again it’s all based on the yield on cost per his portfolio, he may be averaging below 3% then his investment would be more.
@wa210

Example if average yield of his overall stock portfolio yields 3%, for $500 a month, or 6k a year, would need $200k invested.

on Pepsico: they have a nice product diversification in pretty daily consumed brands as Quaker, cheetos, mtn dw, etc. But KO has that wide economic moat that pepsico dont, also KO has being increasing dividends from more years than Pepsico, both have great financials too.
@DapperDividends

PepsiCo may be #2 in soft drinks, but 55% of their total revenue in 2021 was from food, and on top of that Lays is by FAR the leading potato chip brand - by 20% over pringles. PepsiCo is also a dividend king, with an 11% 20 year CAGR, compared to KO's 8% 20 year CAGR, not to mention. But, PEP does have a higher FCF ratio, almost 95% which I'd like to see start coming back down. I look at it as not PepsiCo or Coca-Cola but PepsiCo AND Coca-Cola both being in a dividend portfolio.

Aren’t dividends taxed as income? And that would cut into your overall “profit”?

Unless held in 401k, IRA, then no taxes until money withdrawn. Yes, you pay taxes in a taxable account on the year you receive the dividends.
