They have stated they’ll support the Scottish gov in the VoC. Basically, for the next 2 years the SNP will be dancing to the Greens’ demands if they want to get anything done. What could possibly go wrong? Call a GE and put it to the people. But the SNP is skint and can’t afford to run one election campaign let alone three within the next 2 years.

I just think he has no political brain. In the pub we probably often say, Oh I don´t like this person, I don´t like that person, politically, but when you´re the leader of a party you have to be a bit more cautious. I think a politician can have a combative style, Sturgeon and Salmond certainly did, but it only works if you can do that and also manage some of the tensions you´re bound to get in a political party effectively. Humza couldn´t do that very well.

A nice guy that goes on a racist rant about how a country that is 96% white has mostly positions filled with white people? If this was any other race, he would have been fired as a politician let alone being chosen to become a First Minister of the country. This just shows how much anti white brainwashing and self-hating that has infected the people of Scotland and the UK in general.

well, he won an internal party election and winning those elections and actually being good at governing have little to do with each other. Might not be a good thing, though, as labour are as woke as the greens and SNP. More of the same. You need an alternative view and push back sometimes. That free speech law wouldn't have seen the light of day if there was a tory pushback. It's all about balance. At the moment Scotland is left, and going more and more left. Not gonna end well. You've already lost your free speech. That law stays, even thought he's gone.

She´s on the SNP right, for sure. I wonder how that will change things, because some people vote for the SNP because they are, rightly or wrongly (in my view wrongly), seen as more left wing than Labour. I think the SNP are not really a left wing party at heart, they´re a nationalist party which happens to have both a left wing and a right wing. The 28 days limit as stated is wrong. Hamsa Usef is remaining as first minister until the SNP elect a successor. He will then resign as first minister and the Parliament will have 28 days from his actual resignation to confirm his successor or someone else as first minister. If they can't manage to confirm a successor within 28 days of his actual resignation then there would be an election.

Solid video, just got a few corrections: - The co-leaders of the Scottish Greens did not 'sit in cabinet' in any meaningful way; they attended meetings of the cabinet twice a year and served as regular Junior Ministers otherwise. - The Scottish Greens did not say they would support both votes of no confidence. The Greens did make clear that they had lost confidence in Humza Yousaf, and would vote to oust him. However, they said they would support the government in the Scottish Labour vote of no confidence, as they maintain confidence in the SNP government as a whole. - There is no time-limit with regards to the SNP electing a new leader. Humza Yousaf has not formally resigned, he has announced his intention to resign - effective once the party has selected a successor. - The quote about Kate Forbes calling for the Scottish Greens to embrace her was taken out of context, and she certainly did not call for them to support her as "First Minister" - she has not announced her intention to stand as leader. - Kate Forbes did not vote against same-sex marriage - she was not even a Member of the Scottish Parliament at the time. She simply stated that, as the vote was a vote of conscience and MSPs were encouraged to vote in accordance with their beliefs and values, she would have voted against it due to her religious beliefs. Edit: - Saying Kate Forbes is 'opposed' to the Gender Recognition Reform Bill is fairly disingenuous too, she supports it in principle and said she would contest the UK government blocking it. Now that its been upheld by a court to be illegal, she supports amending it into a passable state so that it can actually be enacted.

Humza Yusaf's attachment to Scotland has always been clear. He lives in Dundee where there have been people who go to the mosque for many many years. Dundee was a jute town. The many mills are still there but repurposed. Jute and people came over to Dundee from the sub continent. Now the 2 universities and medical school attract many life science, dentist and medicine students from the subcontinent and the many I have known have enjoyed and formed an attachment to the town and to Scotland where they have been made very welcome. An inadequate account of the Humza debacle: 1. The trigger of the crisis was the publication of the Cass Report, which was repudiated by Green minister Patrick Harvie. The SNP cautiously accepted the Cass Report or at least did not oppose it, and some Health Authorities paused the prescription of puberty blockers to new patients. This led to calls by the LGBTQ+ group within the Scottish Greens for a vote to leave the Bute House Agreement. Harvie's rejection of the Cass Report led to the proposal of a no confidence motion by Ash Regan, against minister Harvie, which would probably have passed. Only later was the situation compounded by the SNP's abandonment of the climate targets, which caused further ructions within the Scottish Greens, and pushed Humza, ably advised and cajoled by MP Stephen Flynn, to dump the Greens before they dumped the SNP. 2. The 28-day period for the nomination of a new candidate for First Minister by the SNP has not been triggered because Humza has only resigned as SNP leader, but not as First Minister. He stated in his speech that he will only resign as FM once the SNP have chosen a new leader. Only then will the 28-day period be triggered. 3. Next time check your facts.

Yousef is indeed a full numpty IMO, and was a terrible 1st Minister. However he was not wrong to tell the greens 'NO', when their minority beliefs were to be forced on the masses. The Bute House agreement was a way for unwanted radical LBGTQ+++ policies to forced down the throat of the Scottish public. The climate policies similarly are only a concern to the greater public when its doesnt take money out of their empty pockets, which it currently does. The Greens should have no policy power beyond their elected seats.

You've got some things wrong, Alba Party can also prop up an SNP government, with Ash Reagan's vote if they can't agree a powersharing deal with the greens this would level the government vopposition to 64 v 64 with the presiding officer then settling for the status quo. It's also entirely possible that if say Kate Forbes was to become the SNP leader she could strike a deal with either the Lib Dems who hold Orkney and Shetland or Scottish Labour/Conservatives MSP's to back her too. John Swinney is likely to be the only popular candidate that would back a return to a power share with the greens if he was to become leader again. The biggest questions lie if it's someone else becomes leader, say Stephen Flynn the curent SNP leader at westminster who would likely seek a return to the bute house agreement with the greens too if he decides to go for SNP leader. There are a number of back bencher names also being touted who are less well known than these three who depending on the "side" of the SNP party they come from may look to strike agreements with any of the other parties depending on where they stand on the more social-consevative or social-lib side opf the party.
@Pizza23333
@Pizza23333 14 күн бұрын
A few problems with your comment: 1. Unionist parties, particularly the Tories and Labour, aren't going to back any SNP government. Labour are looking to replace them, and the Tories have staked themselves as anti-SNP (and the SNP likewise as anti-Tory). The Lib Dems could, in theory, but may be put off by Forbes Wee Free views. 2. Alba, likewise, is toxic to the center and left of the SNP. 3. After the power sharing agreement fiasco, the Greens are unlikely to enter one in the near future. Especially with the SNP. They are open to backing the SNP on a case-by-case basis though. 4. Only a sitting MSP can become First Minister, and the SNP no longer allows leaders to hold both an MSP and MP position. (Salmond did for many years previously)
