How to Have Margin in Your Life, Finances, and Morality ‪@vladhungrygen‬
Camels can carry great loads but if a straw is placed on a maximally loaded camel, its back will be broken.
The back is not broken by the straw; it’s broken by the overload.
All researches agree:
1. Man has limited capacity
2. Overload leads to serious breakdown
Overload leads to burnout.
If you bend a tree and release it, it returns to the former shape. But if you keep bending it and it snaps, it stays broken.
Margin is something we fill, not protect.
Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. Matthew 13vs22
Seeds bring success.
Seeds need space.
Weeds steal space.
The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it. Proverbs 10vs22
Say no to good things so that you can say yes to God things.
Blessing can make you busy. Busyness can’t make you blessed.
Blessings must have boundaries or they become burdens.
He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me. Psalms 18vs19
Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. John 15vs2
God can do more with less.
Create Breathing Room in Your:
1. Mind by taking a day off once a week.
2. Money by spending less than you make.
3. Morality by not coming close to the edge.
1. Mind Margin - Take a day off
If we want God to order our steps, we must follow His order to stop.
A man’s heart plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps. Proverbs 16vs9
Sabbath means “to stop.”
Take a day off
* Follow God’s rhythm (Ex 20vs8-11)
Secular Rhythm: Work Work Work Vacation Work Work
Sacred Rhythm: Sabbath Work Sabbath Work
Take a day off
* No longer a slave (Deut 5vs12-15)
“Sabbath is an act of resistance.” Walter Brueggemann
“The Sabbath is like a guerrilla warfare tactic.” John Mark Comer
If we don’t stop, we drop!
To fulfill the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her Sabbaths. As long as she lay desolate she kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years. 2 Chronicles 36vs21
490 years of land not keeping the Sabbath = 70 years in exile.
If you keep the Sabbath, the Sabbath will keep you!
And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.” Mark 2vs27
Trust God with your time just as you do with your tithe.
The Sabbath is about taking 24 hours to stop, work, rest, and focus on God.
2. Money Margin - Spend less than you make
The quality of life is not always determined by the standard of life.
And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” Luke 12vs15
Money Management: (Gen 7vs7)
1. Preservation (Saving) (Gen 6vs20)
2. Food (Spending) (Gen 6vs21)
3. Sacrifice (Giving) (Gen 8vs20)
Save during times of plenty so that you can survive the times of famine. (Gen 41vs34)
Make Margin by:
1. Increasing income
2. Decreasing spending
3. Morality Margin - Make space between you and sin
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. Psalm 1vs1
We don’t fall into sin as much as we walk into it.
Wrong decisions are preceded with multiple unwise decisions.
Unwise decisions are excused because they are not morally wrong.
Instead of trying to come as close to the edge of a cliff without falling, we should stay as close to Jesus as we can.
Don’t ask “Is it wrong”, ask “Is it wise?”

I am in extreme debt and do not want to tithe 10%. But I do tithe just not a full 10%. I want to be out of debt and struggle. Thank you for this message and your other messages about finances. The seed has been planted. Will check in in four years and see how well the seed grew! Praise the Lords Blessings Amen

Debt is a struggle for sure but I have found even though I am poor, God blesses when I give with an open heart and prayers that he will bless my finances so I can pay my bills AND give to God. God is the giver of 'gifts' to his faithful. I encourage you to be faithful in giving but also hard work and God will give you more abundantly then you can imagine! Hang in there, don't give up

You do know that if you don't give the entire 10%, then it's not a tithe... it's just an offering. The Bible asks will a man rob God? Even if it's just 1 or 2%, it's still a rob. How can we pray for God's blessings and do things to curse ourselves at the same time.

telling your kids to ask, "is this wise" is a brilliant response! I heard one pastor say it this way, "don't see how close you can get to the world and still be okay." "See how close you can get to God."

Everything in this sermon speaks to me. I need a complete turnaround in setting margins in my mind, money, and morality. Dear God, this is my prayer allowing you to transform me by changing how i do things and unlearn unhealthy worldly wisdom. Holy Spirit, remind me to not overburden myself with the cares of the world but set margins to allow the supernatural flow from God. As a i continue to grow in you God, help me remain faithful to you. Philippians 1:6, whatever you have started in me Lord, finish it. In Jesus name i pray, Amen.

I found your ministry a few weeks ago starting with reclaiming the 🌈 and I've been hooked since! I have been a slave to the world, my job, and people. I have focused on making my identity as a hard working young man wise beyond his years and I've lost who I am along the way. God bless you and thank you for being a tool to spread the Gospel as far as NC where I live!

Also, I'm taking away that I really need to give myself that one true day of rest ... because I know better... and stop chasing money chasing anxiety... I know I should rest on Saturday or Sunday (maybe) to be with ABBA FATHER and my family. And and not feeling some kind of way tithing 10% per month.

I’ve been in seasons where I have enough money to do whatever I like. Now I’m in a season of just enough to get by. Trying to increase my income. But I was not budgeting, saving. I thank God for this season, it’s been changing my heart, and my discipline. I have faith he’ll give me more again. But I’ll be a better steward of it now.

Thank you for the timely message. I went through a period about 12 years ago where God dealt with me on my habit of incessant working. At the time I was pulling 12hr shifts 6-7 days a week and suddenly I started feeling convicted for working on Sundays. It was the first time I'd learned to rest and it was difficult bc I had been using my day off (when I had one) to catch up on housework. God is amazing and He showed me that I could keep the house cleaner with less time than I'd been giving it and it all worked somehow. I'm back to needing to do this again and I'm grateful for the reminder. Thank you for this ministry and doing His work. May God continue to bless you and yours! Praise Jesus!
