Today's Lost and Found choice is Gerard Butler's Hunter Killer (2018). The movie is now streaming Netflix and was released in 2018 with less than desirable reviews (as well as box office scores). The movie follows Joe Glass, a newly appointed Navy Captain to the US Navy submarine Arkansas as they try to thwart a plot for a potential end of the world (think Tom Clancy). In this new, unique twist, is Pop Tot (a former US Navy Submarine vet) reacting to several scenes as we breakdown this movie. What do we think? Find out!

The US sub in Hunter Killer is a Virginia class nuclear-powered cruise missile fast-attack submarines, not a agging Los Angeles class, nuclear-powered fast attack submarines You can tell by the front of the conning tower slopes into the hall instead of just sticking out. And I think the USS Gam Near Bay looks more like an Ohio class. Though why an ohio would be doing the work of the fast attack sub (shadowing a russian sub) I could be wrong about this one, and i'm willing to admit if I am.

Hollywood will always take creative liberties with movies to make them exciting, if we continue to look for ultra realism in a movie like this it probably would be boring and even possibly give away real operational procedures. Not sure why every military personnel think that a movie is crap because it doesn't follow real life, but this is why these movies are labeled sci fi, fantasy and other labels that let you know it's not based on real life. Can you imagine what so call critiques would do with movies like Ben hur, ten commandment, the birds. They would destroy a move that went on to win multiple academy awards. The movie was a damn good movie and I enjoyed it so much that it's one of the few movies I can watch again and again. Given the opportunity nin of these critiques can produce ir and direct a good movie.
