As a part of Prince of Speed 2020 La Palme - Occitanie, I had the opportunity, to do a few runs with the 2 fastest windsurfers in the world - Antoine Albeau / France and Vincent Valkenaers / Belgium. Tried some new cam angles with my brandnew Hero9Black. Also tried to go as close as possible to my teammates, wich is not always easy in those conditions. Winds between 30 and 70! knots wich was insane! At lunch time nature told us to have a break, it was not even possible to start. If you crash or wipeout in those winds, your gear is gone. After about 3 hours we hit the water again and had great fun Speed Windsurfing again. Unfortunately we could't start the WordSpeedTour as it was too risky for the rescue boat. Our speeds were around 90 - 94 km/h Topspeeds. Not the fastest day but a day to remember, soo beautiful!

Vincent was on a series JP Speed 45 / Neil Pryde EVOXII 5.2
Andy was on a series JP Speed 45 / Neil Pryde EVOXI 5.2 (did not revieve a EVOXII in 5.2 yet)

@Andy Laufer ....When watching You Tube, by default, I have the mute button set, due to the majority of videos, whose creators feel they MUST inject the obligatory “soundtrack”....i.e, irrelevant, random noise....Imagine my shock when I “tested” your video, briefly un-muting it, and was pleasantly surprised by the RELEVANT, natural ambient sounds! 👍👍👍✅✅✅

@Andy Laufer ...very true....I hope that the trend of “action videos”, for the creators to feel the need to dub over with noise, er, “music” will eventually be a fad that dies out. I watch videos for the immersive experience, not to listen to someone else’s taste, and choice of music....Would make no more sense than, let’s say, someone goes to a music concert, and then there is a projector displaying random videos on a screen...people would say “what is that all about?” 🤔🤔🤔

Wow, I envy you. I used to spend my days in Fuerteventura, Sotavento, back some 20 years ago when you could go close to the beach for miles. Now you have to stay near the Rene Egli center. It is such a satisfying feeling, to hear clack-clack-clack when the tiny wind waves hit the board. The formation flying you did needs lots of confidence and skill. Anyway, 40cm fresh snow in Salzburg, carving snowboard is ready...

Cool angles Andy. Wondering how deep the water is when your that close to shore? Are you a 100% again after wipe out from last video with you and Nico? Fantastic footage, the close sailing is insane at those speeds.

So close to the coast! You must have a mini fin, and some steel re-inforced balls. A catapult in shallow water at those speeds can result in a really short neck. I realise, i'm saying this because i'm really old ;-)

actually as a speedsailor, you always have a stiff neck. hitting a sandback happens at least 1-2 times a year. getting used to it :)

Its all about control. In these winds, you have to push the front part of the boom sometimes when the gusts kick in.
