Regardless of who you root for, this Canes team perfectly embodied the spirit of hockey. The way they immediately embraced Ayres as one of their own is inspiring. Much respect to the Canes organization and incredibly happy for David!

And on behalf of all lifelong suffering Leaf fans ... You're Welcome. Because without the pathetic effort and gutless performance of this over-talented and under achieving group of spoiled millionaires, none of this would have been possible. So for all the teams that Carolina COULD have had this happen to ....they picked the perfect team to slot in the emergency goalie for over HALF THE GAME 😣..well done Mr.Zamboni driver , well done.

For those not in NC, the Canes are a fun and classy organization, including the fans....it's a very happy fan base. The hatred with Duke and UNC and so on...all that is gone when the Canes play. And players love playing here, most of them. Roddy is awesome as coach. The NHL and the sport of hockey could not have wished for a better franchise for this to happen to....because they are really doing everything right in this.....and man, you just gotta love David Ayers, don't ya? This is just all good....all the way around.

@@musick777 Im not so sure. Davey regularly practices with NHL caliber talent since he works as a practice goalie with the Leafs and Marlies. He may have only gotten to juniors in his own career but he's seen NHL caliber shots in practice for years. He's better than his record because he found a way to keep his hand in. I watched the game, there is no way the Leafs really tried in the 3rd period, Ayers gave up a couple of bad goals in the 2nd, and all the Leafs really had to do was fire it at him and he would have let in several, Leafs stopped shooting because they didn't want him to look bad
@larrylaferriere30752 жыл бұрын
I beg to differ they weren't that bad, have seen regular NHL goalies miss on shots like those, it was John Frikin Tavares
@hagamapama Жыл бұрын
@@larrylaferriere3075 Ayres got beat 5 hole, which happens all the time to any goaltender ever, and he got beat due to a failure of the defense to protect the left side of the crease and give up a VERY high quality scoring chance. Any goaltender might give up the first goal. Very few goaltenders stop that second shot. Both were quality shots.
