How to Merchant Fulfill items on Amazon - Beginners Guide to FBM

In this video I go over the basic overview of everything you need to know to start MFing items on Amazon.
Step 1: Set shipping template
Step 2: Get boxes
Step 3: List items
Step 4: Fulfill the orders
It's pretty simple once you get the hang of it. This video is here to help get you up and running in just a few minutes as we have had a ton of questions about this in our Facebook group. FBM / MFing items is a very effective way to sell during times like this when Amazon is on lockdown due to the virus. With a simple shipping template set up for your fbm orders, you shouldn't have any issues pushing out all your orders.

So it seems that Amazon has changed things around a bit but I was still able to use this video to muddle through it. I had already listed my first item as FBM (been doing FBA for a month) so then went to manage inventory > selected my fbm item > change shipping template from drop down menu up top. Hope this helps people out. Thank you Nate for your perpetual guidance and wisdom!

Lol yeah I actually had to pause the recording for awhile because he was there to pick up a stack of ~ 150 boxes that day. I think he was weirded out when the garage door opened and there were studio lights and cameras pointing right at him.

Yes I'm glad I clicked on your video!, I haven't tackled Amazon yet as I'm more into eBay but will file away this helpful information, I normally try to pre package my items as their already to ship, just have a labeling system to know what's in each sealed box of course, I didn't know you can schedule for ups pick up!, I normally drop stuff off at my local postal plus store, this could save me some gas money for sure!

I just shipped 5 items FBM and forgot to add my shipping template. Well, I made 5 customers very happy! The item weighed almost 5 lbs. Ouch! I was the only seller on the item so got a nice prime price, but ouch, the shipping template:.. well, not using one did hurt my profit. The plus is I’m 20 more FBM sales away from qualifying for merchant fulfilled for Q4 when it really is a huge bonus! Thanks for this video!

I have a couple of questions: What happens or who pays for items that are damaged in shipping or say stolen by a package thief? Also, what is the proper way to package things (in particular in reference to things such as bras and onsies or a cute baby shirt/pant combo? You mentioned putting them in polybags. Is this required? Do you have a video on how amazon would like you to package your items?

Do you use void fill with most boxes (paper, bubble wrap, etc)? For example, I didn't see any in the Oreo box, did you add any later to avoid product damage?

Can I ask, in your video there are times when you show a little "box within a box" of you talking (Ie the viewer gets to see you talking) while the larger box shows some sort of graphic image. Nate, can you make a video on how to build a promotion on Amazon? Any strategy you use? Is it just one item, do you group many of the same items together (pants different colors and sizes) or do you group like items together (all pant different brands)? How to easily estimate budget for promotion? When not to run a promotion on a item? Any tips on this would be much appreciated!

I don't know for a fact but the shipping rates you get from Amazon are about as good as it gets, unless your business does an extraordinary amount of shipping. You're not forced to buy Amazon shipping rates, you want, to take advantage, of the negotiated shipping rates Amazon offers.

Hey Nathan! Great video. Thanks so much. I noticed on your example order customer paid $17ish for shipping. When you bought shipping it was over $24. That seems like a big difference...would you say it balances out due to overages on other items or is this something a new person would want to look at and adjust their shipping charge if there is that much of an under charge. I hope that question makes sense. Thanks again!

I did not actually go through all the steps here so I didn't pay 24. The large flat rate box will be roughly $17 so this was pretty much exactly what the customer paid. In the example I plugged in 12x12x12 box but that's not actually what this was.

I list using IL, in this vid, you say list FBM items thru SC, doing, how does that sync with IL from sales, inventory, P&L stand point. Is there no need to print fnskus for FBM. what about polybag and bubble wrap rules. And grocery, what are expiry dates limits for FBM grocery. sorry so many questions, but feel these issues are important part of the process and were missing in this,otherwise, very informative tutorial

Don't ever buy your Amazon shipping through Pirate Ship (or any other 3rd party). It's a printer setting error.

With the above method you don't calculate any shipping. You just calculate the base costs/profits and then you try to make shipping charges = shipping payments via the template.

So what you charge the customer for shipping, does that get reimbursed to you?? I heard as a individual seller you only get the shipping credits not as a professional seller. I tried free shipping and making a shipping template, it seems the item that I sell is still the same price either way and I never see the shipping that the customer paid come back to me.

"return policy" is an illusion. You basically need to be okay refunding almost anything. No policy is enforceable.

Alright so I sold some products through FBM but don't have my boxes. I checked and it will fit in a M flat rate USPS box, do I purchase the shipping through Central and then just slap it on the box ill be getting and send it off?
