That’s not a new pump that my friend is a rebuilt pump. But in all honesty that’s what the owner/ engineer should be doing in the summer pull out a couple to rebuild when demand on the system is low. I think it’s called maintenance, the strainers need to be removed and cleaned or at least drained and flushed like you did, I would sell them on the lower cost of “maintenance” then emergency replacement and down time! You would certainly need to bid correctly based on the amount of equipment not being serviced!

@peterking1134 Due to new laws for pollution and efficiency in NYC, they are getting rid of the natural gas. These boilers are for hot water in the building. They are going electric with some sort of tankless units. I'm not sure how they will do it exactly but they mentioned it to me. I think they Will need to setup a boiler outside of the building to connect to the existing piping to supply hot water while the room is torn apart and rebuilt

They really need to address the water treatment schedule to get the water quality better because if thats running through the units then its gonna be alot more problems not to mention they are cutting the equipment lifespan by a quarter or at least half which means alot more money going towards massive capital projects.

I am an retired maintenace man and have worked on commercial equipment. Have you thought about just replacing the pump seals? If the motor is electrical sound you could save your self some aggravation with the flanges. Have run into the same thing once or twice over the years.

They had this new pump in the building as a spare to use in a situation like this. The pump we removed was rebuilt with a new seal kit and now they have that as a spare. Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️

I'm all for replacing old with new but the truth is a seal kit would have fixed that pump in half a day. Do yourself and your customer a favor and get a spare shaft seal kit for each pump, nothing makes customers and techs happier than having a leak that can be immediately fixed.@@JumpermanTech

That's very shady what they put you through. I would've made sure they knew they that that's the last time you're spending that kind of money with them. I would even go as far as telling them every time that you're near that you're going to another supply house instead of theirs until they offer to make it right. I would even send them a link to the video so they can see it.

The original gaskets look like they were make out of material for air systems. If you are going to make onsite gaskets, you have to make sure your sheet material is conducive to application..👍

They had this as a spare in the building for this exact situation. The pump we removed, we replaced the mechanical seal on it and now that pump acts as a spare on site. Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️

Just a hell of a lot of work and headache when changing a seal would have only taken a couple of hours. 25+ years as a pump engineer.

If the housing isnt itself leaking I just take the pump(motor) off. That fitment issue comes up all the time. I look into a small chain fall like under 500 lbs. there great for lifting stuff like that. They fit in your hand and you use a ratchet wrench. They need there water treatment look at!

⚡️⚡️⚡️When working on an electrical circuit that has the potential to seriously shock or kill you, PLEASE confirm that the circuit is de-energised before touching with bare hands. It takes less than 20 seconds to verify when doing a motor changeover, but could safe your life!,

I mentioned it on the last video with the other pump. He’s spinning the volute the wrong direction and pumping through the strainer.

Why did they throw all that drywall up above the pumps, enclosing the junction box for that pump? Maybe a little bit of noise baffle?

It really was a hassle. The old guages were rated for 100 PSI so I ordered the same ones. They definitely need to be replaced with ones rated for 200 PSI 💯

I can NOT believe a shop would rip you off on a pump. You need to start rebuilding and repairing your own. Fine a new shop who is more trustworthy or fix your own pump cores. You guys dont deserve the crap products that your getting.

that gasket restricting flow is probably what mudded up the system over time the new one will shove all that stuff out and through the system its gona need flushed something fierce
