That's crazy brother, here in Canada, or at least in all scrap yards in the provinces I'm aware of, if you showed up to a yard with the expectation you're gonna break down and sort your material in the yard, they'd tell you to f**k off pretty quick lol nobody has time for that. You bring it sorted and ready for weighing or you take the least valuable material by weight. Wow

Utter chaos. Longest I’ve ever had to wait to queue at my yard is about 10 mins. Pretty sure they wouldn’t allow people to strip stuff on site. Get in, empty off and get out.

yard closed at 4.30, staff finish at 5.. last customer in at 4.30.

Why don't you divide the tipping bay in to two. One side for stripped stuff (just tipping) and one part for the strippers. Would get people in and out faster. Encourage people to do the stripping outside the yard!

In my local yard only the periwinkle gang strip in the yard. Hope that's not too dated of a reference for you lot

When I come to weigh in steel I get there for about 3:30am and usually still 2-3 vans in front of me. I do worry council will do something if neighbours continue to complain.. probably send down licensing to check the vans!!

Why dont you start a small cafe around the yard which can supply the drivers with a bit of food while they wait and they can order by phone and deliver it to the drivers direct to the vehicle, May help increase the profits or an alternative way to make more money

i worked in a timet factor brifly, should see how much titaniam left of there was, not the best place to work because of the furnaces, heat etc but yeah. mentioned banksman i done that inhouse ticket always go on the drivers blindspot to direct them in 😉

The vans outside must be an absolute pain in the ass for other street users and businesses.... I can understand that guy's frustration but what is the answer? Stripping in the yard is uncommon my way and I'm surprised you let them do it inside for so long... maybe have 2 lines and a time limit is the answer?
