The Rossland Discovery Center is full of history about the Kootenay region. We take a look at the various museum exhibits and look deeper into the history of the area.
Rossland was home to some of the earliest hydro power infrastructure in the world. The history of power generation and mining goes hand in hand. The West Kootenay Power And Light company was incharge of production, distribution and construction of power infrastructure.
Project 9 which was part of the Manhattan project was conducted in the area using the power generation technology from the region to conduct electrolysis of various metals to form sheets that can be smelted later on.
There is alot to see and learn at the museum, they also have outside exhibits.
