Hiya Finn - For me I already had PCOS then to chuck in T was just terrible for me, the pain was always after orgasm for me then later on it turned to cramping and i was in so much pain nearly everyday and once i explained this to the gender clinic they where more than happy to sort surgery out for me, now nearly two years post op and honestly i just feel so much relief within myself. Kids for me was never something i wanted and i was always vocal about that from a young age, parenthood is just not for me!

First - quote of the day: "This transgender cake is cooked!" I love it! 😁 As a cis-woman going through early menopause I know the misery of period pain and hormonal rollercoasters; what you had to deal with in terms of surgery & plumbing pain once testosterone was in the mix - eep! And that's before factoring in the gender dysphoria mental anguish you describe 😢 Thank you for educating people like me about your life experiences xx

Thank you for talking about this. I had exactly the same kind of pain you had and had to actually really fight to get my hysto. I was turned down multiple times because I was "too young and might regret it" (I had my hysto in October, at 21). I also had endometriosis and got a rare diagnosis of FATWO (Female Adnexual Tumor of Probable Wolfian Origin)- I am number 83 in the world 😬

I am so so scared of getting my hysterectomy. I'm 20, almost 21 and I've been on Testosterone for about 2 whole years. my period came back no matter what pill i was given, and what was a normal period every month turned into a nonstop flow for 4 whole weeks. my cramps somehow got worse than before I started T (I used to miss school/work before hormones), and of course the prolonged blood loss has caused major fatigue. I've decided to just jump the fence and get the hysterectomy before my top surgery. but I'm scared, truthfully, i hate the idea of going under the knife! your video is the first I'll be watching to research the hysterectomy, thank you for sharing and being so open on here for fellow ftm or general afab people further down the line 🧡

I had noticed how strong and painful it was for me also. Thank you for clarifying why. My doctors didn't tell me. The worst part for me was after the hysterectomy when my intestines moved !!! I was so glad, at that time, that I had not chosen to have children. I never wanted to, but now I am sure. Having the slightest movement inside me for 9 months would have made me crazy. It was never meant to be and I am so glad that I have made the decision that I did. Great video, very helpful. Thank you.

OMG my hysterectomy was the worst physical pain I ever felt in my life! Post-op, it felt like I was carrying Rosemary's baby. The spawn of Satan was scratching its nails against my internal organs below the belt, and that pain lingered for months! But now that the surgery is far behind me, I can confidently say that it was the best decision I ever made! And I knew I had no desire to bear children. Oh no...that post- hysto pain was bad enough!

Thank you for this video, just discovered you! I had a pretty bad night.. and today i feel so down. I had awful period cramps from 9pm to 2am and i couldn't sleep. They have come and gone more and more in the past few months and i'm almost 3 years on T. Besides the pain, the awful dysphoria and knowing exactly what is hurting, remembering the bleeding that came with it.. I more and more realize that i have to eventually get a Hysterectomy and that is scary. I don't want kids and i never have. I even want to have bottom surgery at some point. But thinking about having another surgery.. I'm only 24 and i have to do all this shit, it just, really really sucks. I have an appointment with my Endocrinologist in July for my T shot, but i'm always too scared to tell him.

My hysto was the first surgery I had for my transition. It wasn't my first rodeo as far as surgeries go though. Interestingly enough it would have happened even if I wasn't trans and all that. I had early on-set poly cystic ovarian syndrome. From the time I started having periods, they were extremely painful and unpredictable. As I got older that pain and unpredictability got worse. My mom had the same problem and my symptoms were mirroring the worsening symptoms she had. By the time I had my hysto I had horrific pain and my periods were nearly constant, yes even on T. I also was bleeding so much that I was overflowing the most obsorbant pads I could find with in an hour. I chose to not have my eggs frozen partly because my insurance (medicaid) wouldn't even think of paying for it. Most importantly though, I have so many different health issues that are hereditary. I didn't really want to pass on those conditions to any potential offspring.

Hi Finn, Did you have abdominal cramping after your hysterectomy? I started having a little cramping just before having a bowel movement. Its been five years since mine and the cramping has gotten more intense. First I thought maybe it was just healing, then thought it could be strictures around my intestines. Now I’ve just heard about the vaginal atrophy and that it involves cramping. Maybe it’s as simple as that. I’m going to see my dr and request a cat scan to rule out strictures. I’m having a vaginectomy in my second stage surgery. But that won’t be for another year, because it will take a while for me to heal from the phalloplasty first, which Im hoping will be in the spring. Any insights? Thank you, Thomas

I know this video is 3 years old so I may not get a response, but I’m working towards getting a hysterectomy myself and I’m also a trans man. One thing my surgeon mentioned was surgical menopause since I am getting my ovaries removed as well. That makes me really anxious tbh :/ It’s definitely not changing my mind on getting this procedure done, I’m still going forward with it 100%, but is that something you experienced? Hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, hair thinning, etc? I’m just a little worried about that, I guess?
@FinnTheInfinncible
@FinnTheInfinncible Жыл бұрын
Hi my friend. How the hysto impacts you, will all depend on whether or not you are taking testosterone and how far into transition you are. If you've been on T for a few years, you will have already had your estrogen suppressed and therefore effectively already been through the menopause. Surgery will just make this permenant. What you may find, is that your t levels need adjusting after a hysto , some trans chaps find it's the case. I personally didn't and had zero effects physically after my hysto If you use your V, and you are on T and it isn't currently affected by dryness, I doubt that will change much for the reasons I mentioned above. I hope this helps!

I’m pre t and hopefully (I say hopefully because of the plague and not because of paperwork and logistics) getting a hysto without removing my ovaries sometime this year, and they said that it’s actually possible to harvest eggs after a hysto, they just stick a needle into your lower abdomen and do it that way instead of through the vagina. which is very cool and not something I have any desire to do, but it’s nice to know that it’s an option if I ever want to

FinnTheInfinncible I’m getting my cervix, uterus, and fallopian tubes removed. they’re keeping the ovaries because if you remove the ovaries, you have to be on some form of synthetic hormones for the rest of your life. and as previously mentioned, I’m not on hormones (they perform hysterectomies on cis women for various medical reasons and leave the ovaries in all the time. I think my doctor said that most ovarian cancers actually start in the fallopian tubes, so by removing those, you’re at extremely low risk of cancer)

You can still get reproductive cancers even after a hysterectomy. It’s just no where near as likely. Don’t let doctors lie to you about that though. I’m very lucky in the way that my doctor is very honest with me about such things.

Male individuals don’t get hysterectomy full stop, that’s biology. I’m a vet and I do hysterectomy on female dogs, female XX, ovaries, mammary glands and all that stuff. I would use pronouns he/his with you, I accept you perceive yourself as a man but biologically you are not a man, you do not risk prostate cancer because only men have a prostate. And this is not being transphobia it’s basic science
@FinnTheInfinncible
@FinnTheInfinncible Жыл бұрын
Science isn't basic. Biology is incredibly complex, and gender cannot be simplified down to chromosomes and body parts. Why would you feel the need to comment on my validity as a man? I hope you are kinder to your animals than you have been here.

he never said that biologically male individuals could get hysterectomies. yes, he did say that *men* could get hysterectomies, but he meant transgender men, which by the way, are still men because gender is different to biological sex. gender is how you self-identify, sex is determined by what reproductive organs you were born with and what chromosomes you have. most people stick with the gender commonly associated with their biological sex, but that does not mean that they’re the same thing. some men are biologically female and some women are biologically male, and that is okay.

Dude I just finished 200 level basic genetics and know chromosomes are more complicated than that. Don’t use over simplified “science” to justify your transphobia. Like tell me what gender is someone with XXY?
