The fact that this doctor didn't mention that females with high levels of testosterone are at a higher risk of PCOS, metabolic disease, insulin resistance, cancer (uterine) and heart disease is fucking irresponsible and dangerous. This is what happens when you mix politics with medicine, physicians feel pressured to be PC to a point where they literally start ignoring science. It absolutely *is* necessary to get a hysterectomy if you're taking testosterone. I can't believe this woman still has a license. Unbelievable! Transmen are biologically female. So whatever applies to women's health, also applies to them. And no ob-gyn would advise a regular woman to take testosterone due to the dangers. It really depends. Some trans people will have no issues with their reproductive health, others will. That's why it's important to have regular gynecological exams if you have the organs as well as general doctor visits.

@@vegetaismydad5382 I already had PCOS, taking testosterone doesn’t give you PCOS, you either have it or you don’t, and then you can choose to treat it how you want. My undesirable PCOS symptoms have lessened and been treated by testosterone and I am much more comfortable. Genuinely if you aren’t trans, don’t evangelize about our bodies and medical conditions.

@@vegetaismydad5382 And trans men who take T are just as at risk of heart disease and stroke as cis men, as our levels are maintained and regulated to a healthy level that would be the equivalent of a cis mans healthy range. There is no undue danger here, other than not giving medical care to trans people that eases their very real risk of death associated with gender dysphoria and discrimination.

In case of gender dysphoria long term studies show no significant long term benefit of hormone therapy and sex-reassignment surgeries. Short term self-evaluation is a "honey-moon" effect. The long term cross-sex hormone use shorten life expectancy by causing more and more medical problems as the time passes. Estrogen reduces libido significantly. If you are implying that hrt should be banned for trans people BUT not cis people- well, obviously that’s just gender bias, not medical reasoning. If your argument is that the risks of hrt outweigh the benefits, tout-court, make THAT argument- and again, tell us why your cherry picked studies outweigh the bulk of evidence the AMA and FDAetc use in determining safety and efficacy.

Some drink alcohol, others smoke, millions of people are getting different kind of plastic surgeries and millions use different kinds of legal or illegal drugs. If you keep your ovaries and didn't have any hormonal issues before surgery, then you shouldn't need any supplemental hormones post-surgery.

@@mori5509 I ended up getting both the hysterectomy and oophorectomy because it was the right decision for me. I'm not on hormones because I never wanted them and it so happened that my surgeon discovered I had endometriosis during surgery, so they also advised me against getting on hormones. It's been 6 months and my hormone levels aren't dangerously low. What ever you decide, make sure you have a good medical team on your side. I had my primary, cardiologist, GYN and endocrinologist all on the same page. I hope you find this helpful.

Going on Testosterone does not cause "early menopause." The decrease in production of estrogen due to the introduction of testosterone is not equivalent to the gradual decrease in production of estrogen equated with menopause. There is also not a link between transitioning and a higher risk of cancer or bone loss. Heart attacks are more common for trans men who take testosterone because heart attacks are more common for anyone with testosterone in their bodies (same goes for high blood pressure and cholesterol).
