The HTRAC stands for Hyundai and Traction. The advantage of this technology is that unlike its competitors, torque distribution varies according to the drive modes. In normal mode, during flat speeds, force is distributed mainly to the rear wheels ensuring a comfortable and fuel efficient ride. During turning, HTRAC automatically allocates 30-40% percent power to the front wheel to give better grip on the road. In sports mode, HTRAC focuses on better acceleration and sharper handling. HTRAC will give more power to the rear wheel compared to the normal mode. The driving force ranges from 28 to 290 depending on the surface. The second advantage of HTRAC is that it specially enhances handling on rough or slippery surfaces. HTRAC can automatically detect rough surfaces and distribute force equally to the front as well as rear wheels, thus enhancing stability and offering a less bumpy ride. When HTRAC detects a slippery surface it activates escape mode which allocates power to the less slippery side of the wheel for better handling. HTRAC was meticulously tested on various proving grounds like the Nurburgring circuit and the frozen lakes of Scandinavia.
