@@jrmbtr I was considering the WK2 back when I got this one. Both very capable vehicles but man oh man Jeep can’t compare to Land Rover when it comes to drivability and how the vehicles are built for the drivers and passengers comforts. It’s all the little things in them that really set them apart if that makes sense

@@jrmbtr I drove Jeep(s) in my youth. But no longer. IF I could afford the $ of the LRD's I would bump up to them. But I just cannot get past the practical/reliable factor of what Toyota's offer. Plenty comfy for me at this stage. My service bill is minimal and my repair bill is nonexistent.

love the honest feedback/ review. As a 4runner and a wrangler owner, I applaud your choice. Not everything needs to be built to crawl rocks. Love the premium interior and confident driving dynamics. While my jeep is awesome once off the tarmac, carving canyons is on top of my wishlist. Anything that gives you daily comfort for your use and as long as you love it that's awesome. No hate. @@DrivenHard LOL Hey, I have come back and figured there would be a fair share of .. hard honest opinions against your choice. But that does not mean your choice is wrong for you. I respect your choice. IF I could afford the $ of an LRD and justify the ownership costs, I would take one in a heartbeat. They are very capable machines. They have a great deal of luxury and premium materials to enjoy. Ride quality is nothing to put your nose up in the air about either. In fact, it was LRD's abilities that set me in search of a vehicle with it's abilities. Just not in that price range or track record of maintenance requirements. Had a friend whom bought an LRD(used)and spent 5 times the purchase cost on repairs and maintenance in 2 years time before he finally had had a enough draining his wallet. Was a terrific ride. Just not cost effective to own for the poor. lol

Great real world review by an ACTUAL LR owner. The haters are mostly uninformed dudes who never drove/owned and who just recite LR lore from back in the day when the Rangies (2nd gen, looking at you) actually did suck. I've had an Evoque and then a Discovery Sport that were super reliable and never got me stranded. On top of that they have pretty much the nicest designed interiors for my taste, are super excellent, comfy road tripping cars and its really, really hard to get them stuck unless you're hard core rock crawl off roading. I'm ready to get my next one, but for me it has to be electric and it looks like LR is missing the boat BIG TIME on electrification, otherwise I would already have a Defender in my garage. Maybe the R1S might fit the bill, if it ever becomes available.

I've always liked Land Rover, more power to those who can afford a luxury vehicle like this. About the only thing I can think of when it comes to the noise you described is a cab/body mount but isn't yours a unibody instead of body on frame?

If you drove your vehicle fording a stream or any body of water in which the water depth was in excess of Land Rover’s recommended maximum depth and the starting motor malfunctioned then I understand why you would pay for a new starter. However, if the water depth was within the fording depths approved by Land Rover then the starting motor should not fail.

Starter is made by Denso; same manufacturer that makes starters for many other vehicles, including Toyota and Honda. Just searching online, looks like the starter is $400 USD. He's Canadian, so he paid about $530 in labor. It's also an easy DIY job, unlike a 200 series Land Cruiser.
