You can fix the light flicker on your zve1 by enabling the anti-flicker detection. It'll set your shutter speed so that the light is solid

I do need to do that more but yea I get that haha maybe the s9 could do that but the bending from on the go fast movement wouldn’t be ideal. I’ve seen it on my a7iv if I use silent mode and the warping is wild haha

@@EasyTigerCreative The warping for on-the-go stuff with electronic shutter is a no-go for me for sure. But I think for a lot of casual image capturing like your daily social media stuff that most people do with your cell phones, this might be more than enough. My biggest issue is with relation to capturing action things like sports and Jiu-Jitsu. The only way I can deal with the bendy imaging video is stabilizing through gyro flow and correcting for rolling shutter. But the zve1 is excellent for that.

If you're considering Lumix I highly recommend the S5ii or S5iix. I sold my A7iv and completely switched from Sony to Lumix and I'm incredibly happy with it. The open gate recording, incredible stabilization, intuitive and numerous settings are worth it. Plus they are always providing free firmware updates to improve their cameras.

Setting Synchro Scan may help with some of the warping on the S9. Will be looking for image tests, but it's possible I'll add an S9 to my kit at some point. Love my existing S5 and S5II.

If you already have an s5 and s5ii then it makes sense! Since it’d be my first Lumix probably not the most ideal! But I mean I have been wanting to see if the Lumix system could be for me honestly with the s5IIX!

As a filmmaker, the lack of a mechanical shutter would not affect my choosing to get the S9. Not even the 10-15 minute recording limitations. I create mostly narrative content. As such, most of my shots are 5-10 seconds long. I do make some KZfaq videos for my channel. But, even then I don't need to talk for 10-15 minutes straight. I respect your choice. It sounds like a completely valid one as a photographer. I hope you find what you're looking for. Thanks for sharing your views.

The video side of the camera is great in my eyes too! I love the open gate on it and the video capabilities. Even the recording limit wouldn’t affect me. I was just hoping it would’ve been like a cheaper alternative than the a7cii since I do want a compact full frame photo and video hybrid camera for travel. My zve1 does amazing video but photo wise is not the most ideal every time haha but maybe I’ll have to just keep my a7iv and wait to see what will come in the future!

Smart guy right here 👍🏽. I love the fact of the S9 for Travel… I have multiple S5 II for work but my hold up is can I feel comfortable with this as a backup safety shot to get the most out of my dollar. I have an Atomos Ninja V just currently serving as a Monitor Only.. I may just connect to the S9 for those long form moments & then back to its intended use to ease my Social Workflow. All in all, I agree, I continue to do photo with my S5 II Or X.

I honestly would love for Lumix to let me really test out the s9 and s5ii or s5IIX to see how it compares to my zve1 and a7iv. I wouldn’t mind looking into it but hard to reach out to them haha Do you know if there’s a mount adapter to have autofocus on Sony lenses to use on Lumix?

I'm totally fine with still buying the Lumix S9, because I'm in the Lumix ecosystem already. I have S5 and S5markIIX so S9 works as my travel camera and b.t.s. on professional shoots.

I have exactly the same opinion. The sensor readout speed is about 25ms which is very high. I saw videos from youtubers exposing the banding of Sigma fp cameras which have very similar sensor readout speed. With artificial lightning the banding is almost always present in more or less subtle manners. I really really expected a camera like the S9 from Lumix but I take the risk to buy a camera that is not capable to take valid photos indoors or at night. I have the S5II & a few lenses by the way & I really like the image quality/features provided by this equipment. I will stay like that for the moment. But maybe I am wrong & others youtubers will show me that the S9 can perform whatever the ambiant light 😊

Yea I mean if you already have Lumix gear and lenses, probably you might be fine to be with the s9 since you wouldn’t need to buy too much of lenses and accessories for it so could be a good camera for you. Might not be perfect but could be still useful for the price!

i feel your pain man! the lack of mechanical shutter, no headphone jack and recording time limits are the biggest cons for me (hoping they will get rid of the recording time limits in a future update) despite its limitations, i’m actually gonna pick one up. i used to own the s5 ii and it’s an incredible camera, especially open gate and ibis. but having the s5 ii in basically a small form factor is a huge plus for me and my current workflow! do you think the zve1 is still the better purchase over the s9?

I totally get it! I was still tempted to get one after making this video but just can’t get myself to do it. I mainly was thinking I could compromise because of the luts for photo and video to make content faster when doing everyday things but then saw the lenses aren’t so compact anyways so kinda defeats the purpose. I think the zve1 is great for videos mainly. The s9 would be great if you want to be able to do the baked in LUTs for videos and photos and be ok with the photos how they’ll be. The zve1 photos aren’t horrible in all honesty, mainly lacks when you want to capture a lot of movement or lights sometimes.

As far as I know, there aren't any full-frame cameras this small that would have a mechanical shutter? Between the S9, the Sigma FP, and the Sony A7C II all being incredibly compact and lightweight full frames they do not have mechanical shutter. I think this is a hardware limitation. The only camera I can think of that would be in this category with a leaf/mechanical shutter could be the Sony RX1R II, Although being full frame it has a fixed lens. I think comparing the S9 to any other cameras but these ones are not a good comparison. The S9 is clearly aimed to compete in the compact full-frame camera category.

They have a sort of like shutter to my understanding with the a7cii to make it not have any banding and such compared to the s9. I just noticed it’s had a lot of like warping and banding if there’s fast movement which isn’t a horrible thing but also not the most ideal for what I’d need it

It’s able to be used fine without the need of a mechanical shutter but it does have a lot of warp and bending in the image when there’s fast movements from every video I’ve seen. So that makes it harder to have as a photo camera and I would have to only use it as a video camera if anything since it does have decent videos specs. Minus the recording limits.

Not sure if you are aware but the A7C II does not have a mechanical shutter either and would be no diffrent.

From every video and menu settings that I’ve seen on the a7cii it does. It gives you the option to choose to shoot with a mechanical shutter or electronic shutter in the menu system. Would be kind of odd to have that but not be able to use it whatsoever. But who knows. I just know for photo the a7cii is amazing from everything I’ve seen and doesn’t have the warping and banding that the s9 seems to have when shooting fast motion.

That’d be fine if the read out speed is faster every time where there isn’t warping with fast motion. Nothing wrong with that but right now it’s not there with this camera.

I mean they built it pretty cheap it seems with how much they skipped out on. But I mean they will probably have a rebate in like 4-5 months of like $200 off then it could be worth it in my eyes.

It’s not a mechanical shutter as what we are used to. It’s a mirrorless type of mechanical shutter from what I know. It’s like a different way that’s used with mirrorless than traditional dslr

The sensor readout speed on the Z9 is fast enough to eliminate most of the problems that a mechanical shutter solves. The two most common problems are banding that shows up in photos under artificial light and rolling shutter jello effect. You can research these to see what I am talking about.

The A7Cii does not have a mechanical shutter, you're gonna have the same issue....

But it does have a mechanical shutter? I’ve seen so many people talk about it and it’s even in their menu to be able to choose electronic or mechanical shutter. That’s why you don’t seem to have any banding and warping like the s9 would do when fast moving would happen and such.

@@EasyTigerCreative Nope, it does not have a fully mechanical shutter. But only a mechanical shutter with a first shutter curtain and an electronic shutter. (it is an EFCS with no purely mechanical option). From the description of a camera you want in your videos, please do not buy the A7CII,... You're going to have issues... 🙏👌

S9 launch day was a disappointment for me. There was to many parrot biased videos on this camera. Personally no longer wanting to be on this eco system.

Yea I can understand that. I feel like launch day from Lumix sparked a big issue about those kind of events with the influencers that go from all the videos of KZfaqrs who are making them about talking about why they went and everything haha
