I remember the stage you're in. By year 10 with my 1st set of locs they were low back length and it was a lot. I cut them to about shoulder length and was happy! I know with this set, I won't let it get pass shoulder blade length. That's my sweet spot and I'll just keep it cut to that length.

I'm planning to re-loc my hair on my 40th birthday... I'm growing my loose natural hair at the moment. It really matters how much you maintain. I'm going for super natural maintenance locs; washing and oiling every few weeks, twisting every few months, no products, only oil when I wash and castile soap... no combs, no brushes... the reason my loc journey failed the first time (9 years) was because of over processing and using products for loose hair on locs...the products really attract lint. A lob is the ideal length for me too lol

Lol I'm 14 years in and I totally agree I miss my shoulder length sometimes 😞 Washing/twisting days takes me a couple hours or more 😭 With Lint I pick with tweezers to get lint out or a lint roller. The longer they are you get thin ones & frayed ones....I'll put in a maintenance knot and palm Roll it to repair really thin spots can't even tell the difference. 😉 I've combined some over the years too lol I hv lost some, if they break I throw them away, if I cut it I might reattach it.

Marlaina LuvsLocs thank you hun! And great question! It’s not much hair that comes on the lint roller for me, so it doesn’t alarm me much to not do it from time to time.. this is only a problem in the winter...and this is the only year I actually had this problem. If I was still living in Florida, I wouldnt even have that issue. Also my lint roller is not so sticky that it would leave residue or pull on your Locs too much.. but I definitely see your point.

@@BeSpiffyBeYou it will always leave some sort of residue even if you can't feel it ...it's not about you feeling the stickiness or not, it's just science .a bit like the principle of cross contamination ... when you touch something the fact that you can't see it on your fingers or feel it doesn't mean it's not happening ! Anyway I was just saying for others to hear .you dont have to take my word for it anything we get in contact with transfer in some sort of form or way ...rolling something sticky to my sense will not help to attract less lint, even if the stickiness level is low

I love my locs, but I am really regretting some of the products I've used on my locs along with coloring them. Some of my ends are really hard and crunchy feeling. I also have cut some ends that were braking off so I have different lengths going on. AND in the crown of my hair my locs are thicker than the perimeter and styling can be difficult with such thickness. I really want to start a new set with smaller locs and make better choices now that I know better. The only problem is that I have had my locs interlocked about 4-6 times and I think I would have to cut my hair off and not comb them out... Sigh!! I'm in such a hard spot.

@@kraxykam7242 I wish I didn't bleach my locs. I wish I didn't use the Bronner Brothers locing creme (I forget the name) and I wish that I would've diluted my conditioner instead of using it at full strength. I also used quite a bit of ecostyler gel...

I used have this issue during the first year of my locs. It was the products I was using. Shea Moisture African Black Soap Deep Cleansing Shampoo, natural oils (african shea, organic olive, etc), biotin vitamins, lots of water, and a satin scarf/pillow case helped my locs. I wash my locs every 2 weeks; oil my scalp and locs every 2-3 days. I stopped eating fast foods and fried foods. I maintain a mediterranean diet for the most part. For me, my loc health was more about what I was putting in my body rather than what I was putting on my locs. Hope this helps.
