My best advice, Dont be afraid to leave a job, Even if you are doing okay. Dont be afraid to use youth players even if they dont seem good enough. Dont Change tactics cold turkey, but rather change tactics to either balanced or cautious first.

I started playing FM this year, and I started with Gateshead FC in the National League. I managed to get promoted in my very first year of the save after winning against Oldham on Penalties in the Playoff Final. I was still learning the game so it took me about 5 seasons to leave League Two. I left as Champions of League Two and I am currently in a fight for promotion from League one, which isn't going well because I have 2 important starters who got month long injuries and 3 loans were recalled because I didn't follow where the managers wanted them to play. Update: We had some rutts. I choked automatic promotion and slipped down to 6th place. But, WE ARE CHAMPIONSHIP AFTER BEATING BRADFORD CITY 3-2 AT WEMBLEY!!!

Best advice is at 10:00 -play with the team you know the best. The attributes, tactics, and transfers are the most overwhelming. If you already know the answers IRL it's significantly less intimidating to set up a tactic and decide who your core squad is, what your team needs are, and who you need to sell.

I love to start games in the lower leagues, and promote them to the top over time - you learn by playing, and it's very satisfying winning promoting to the top leages and start competing for the top trohpies with a team you built more or less from scratch :)

I play FM by assigning all my scouting and training to my staff, set up my tactics, and then go into the match and shout depending on score. We concede, I press demand more. We score, I press praise. Nothing really more than that

Funny thing: been playing since FM 2008 and the more I play, the less I want to do. Nowadays, I delegate training, friendlies, everything U21/U18 related, interviews, staff renewals (after building a godlike staff). The only thing I do is scout, buy/sell players, player renewals, tactics and play matches. All the rest I pretty much delegate.

FYI while FM on Console is like the mobile version if you have game pass ultimate and use pc pass also you get the pc version of FM for free you just don't install it through steam etc and you can still customize it like the full pc game skins logos etc

One I'm surprised no one said is just checking out your squad. Before I go to tactics for the first time I like to go to the squad overview and that one screen that shows you the best players in every position and I set it to show every position to see what formation the current squad is best in, since you normally can't make too many changes in that first offseason. I'll generally still end up gegenpressing, but I feel like it helps me get the most out of lower league players when they're in a comfortable position

Whenever I get a new FM version and it's been a while since I have played the game, I start with the team I support or a team I know well in order to get up to date with the biggest changes in the game.

My first save ever was Barcelona in FM20. I played six seasons and won five leagues. Didn't win the Champions league until that last sixth season. Many disappointments in UCL that led to some turmoil. I lost a few star players, bought a few star players, but developed the rest of my team using the youth academy. The familiarity I had to the team helped me a lot and when I play FM25 (haven't played FM since 20) I will be very comfortable playing with any kind of team.

My difficulty starting with a team I support (Arsenal) is that I already have an emotional connection to the players, which can make offloading players more difficult at times.

Start with a 90s one and you can learn the systems and features as they get added to the game; rather than being overwhelmed all at once by jumping in on the 30th episode of a series

Back in FM18, I started with North Ferriby Utd, which the game said was supposed to be relegated from the National League North. Didn't enjoy it that much, stopped playing, found SecondYellowCard's Building a Nation save in FM23, re-bought the game, and have been playing on and off since, still on FM23.

First team I ever managed was in Championship Manager co-op with a mate. He played West Ham with a young unbelievable Joe Cole, and I played Southampton with James Beattie if I remember correctly. But that first season was brutal.

For the first two FM's i played i remember starting a save and getting getting fired in the first or second season, i then start over and get fired again. I wish i had records of those saves because i'm curious what i was doing so wrong back then. That kind of thing happening is unthinkable now.

The most important advice I can give is... wear a suit to finals and games that decide the league, you will still lose most likely but at least you lose while looking good

I do lower league play to not worry about contracts. At that stage you're focusing on tactics and learning how to recognize actual talent. Then when you get into Semi pro you can start playing the market. Mostly getting frees then selling them to keep the club afloat. Once you get to pro (club status) you are fully in the weeds of buy low sell high and really have to manage your budget. A real newbie should get a modded league (I prefer T8 England because they are amateur

My first FM (and the one I still play) was FM14. Here is how it started: 1. Picked my favorite team, unfortunately it was MLS and way too much. 2. Chose a team in lower level England and got fired. 3. Chose the biggest club in League 1 (Wolves at the time) and got fired. 4. Chose Rangers who were in Scottish League 1 after administration. They were miles better than every team, and I still got fired year one. At this point I figured this game wasn’t for me. No matter what, I couldn’t make it through even one season. But I tried once more, Dunfermline in Scottish League 1. It all just clicked and had a long save. Overtook Celtic in season 10, won the Champions League in year 17. Retired after year 20.

how do you simulate fm23 quickly? like just to see what happens in the future not really managing

My favourite advice is to start with Celtic, they literally have 3 good players for all the positions on the pitch. You will be able to ignore one of the, imo, most annoying parts of FM, managing stamina. Also start with the mobile version.

I got the quickest guide... Tactics are literally 80 or more than 80% of the work in FM. Find out the meta in every version and you win. It has been like that since game creation.

I would still advise starting with big clubs. They have few problems in terms of composition, the players themselves can win you titles. You can concentrate on learning everything else. Gradually you will understand what you want to do, what is difficult for you, how to delegate authority, and so on. In Real Madrid or City, you will never end up in debt if you just do the same things. You won’t have to fight for survival, you will be in comfortable and warm conditions. You won’t, having received a lot of money, buy everyone in a row, but you will learn to select one or two high-quality reinforcements for the squad per season, because you’ll have fun anyway. You will never encounter a situation in which the evil PSG or City will come with your newgens, because you will be this very villain. You will never suffer from the fact that you cannot sign a strong and/or talented player because you lack the reputation, because half the universe dreams of going to Real Madrid. Only the other half, whom you have already taken for yourself, does not dream of this)

Am I the only one that thinks FM isn't that hard? There's so much online content to help you out it's very easy to stay on track. The large fanbase the game has means any question I have is almost immediately answered on google. Took me about two weeks to confidently become decent enough at FM.

Avoiding relegation from the Prem: Will take every trick in the book you know of. Getting from Prem relegation candidates to comfortably mid table: I don't think I can do it unless I purchase the 11 fastest wonderkids I can get my hands on.

Just a comment regarding the end..... acceleration and pace is not broken, it's just OP attributes as it is IRL..... there are tons of examples of players that are/where world class predominantly on pace.... give me any other attribute that you can make that comparison with IRL..... no you can't so pace/acceleration is not broken.

I enjoy Developing youth by buying senior players with 20 Determination and mentoring , I also go to the lowest league to start off with to get the english hero title , its very difficult so i kinda reload alot.
