Check fuel mileage after 1,000 miles then 5,000 miles. We noticed a big difference in our break-in experience with our 23 Timberline explorer. I changed the oil at 4,000 miles the first time. Much better after the 1st thousand miles then better yet after 1st service.

The RR is awesome but $80000 plus Canadian is outrageous to me especially when I can get a fully loaded Colorado ZR2 for $65000. I know it's probably more fun to drive with the 3.0 V6 but the price difference is a bit much.

"Expect to pay 10 to 20 grand more, if you can find it". I literally called up 3 dealers today, they all had at least 1 in one color or another, and their MSRP. So I "ordered" a pepper red one for 57k. Wow, such a markup, wow so hard to find......

"Where do you want us to go in this truck?" I would say your testing grounds in Eastern WA. is pretty bad ass. Moses Lake would be a fantastic place for this truck to open up and run the way it was meant to. No scratchy trees around ya. Perhaps Tahuya. Capital Forest has some good power line spots. Elbe Hills would be a challenge, but it has some tight, narrow trails. Seems it has really changed for more custom mades than street rigs now. Douglas Creek would be a nice drive/road trip for you. Scenic and when you get there, there are areas that would be fun to test out your articulation. Just a few ideas for local trips.

Got mine for MSRP and ordered catcus green on accident but its growing on me honestly. Getting around 10 mpg driving pretty aggressively around town in sport mode but didnt get for fuel economy got for a capable daily that isnt going to be boring.

Honestly the GMC canyon AT4X interior and exterior styling look way better. The only reason I'm still waiting for my Raptor is because of the turbo V6 3.0 over the 2.7l 4 cylinder in the Canyon. I wished GMC still have the older V6 with a factory pro-charger.

I just did this in my Ranger FX4. Turns out it needs 33" tires, a lift, and better armor. Fords armor doesn't cover the brackets that hold the lower control arms. There was some pretty big off camber sections that would have made me nervous with a higher CG though. PS: Those brackets stack down and are going to take hits.

Seems like a great truck!! My one issue with the F150 Raptor is its size. It is going to collect a lot of AZ pinstripes, and it’s a pain in parking lots. The Ranger Raptor seems to be a perfect size for off-roading. Can’t wait to see further reviews after its broke in. My knock against this is the lockers being in a touch screen. I wish they had their own physical switches/buttons. The more you have to use touch screens the more distractions you have as you toggle the screens and try to read what’s what. A simple button is better in my opinion. Does it have trail turn assist? That would be a great feature to have.

As one who owns a fully modified PowerWagon with all King suspension (and far more) I had to develop some 'guts' for offroading as well. Sounds like clearance side to side is a huge trigger for you. weird question. rc cars have a speed controller and when the truck hits an obstacle, it auto gives it power and controls how much power is used to maintain the same rate of speed that was being inputted by the throttle. I hear in your reviews to get over obstacles, of course you have to give it a little more throttle, but wondering if there is some speed control for full size trucks.

@migueljardim8177
@migueljardim8177 19 күн бұрын
Style is subjective, personally I prefer how the Raptor looks. However, capability is not subjective and for that the Raptor is superior to the ZR2, especially in high speed offroading.
@Andrew-hi2rj
@Andrew-hi2rj 19 күн бұрын
@@migueljardim8177 it is definitely subjective but for the performance are you referring to the added HP? The torque is the same and the suspension on both are top of the line. I would argue the rock crawling would be better on the ZR2 since it has better approach angels and the exhaust pipes are more protected since they aren’t sticking out as much.
@Andrew-hi2rj
@Andrew-hi2rj 19 күн бұрын
Also the Colorado has underbody cameras that absolutely help when making sure you don’t want to scrape. That is from personal experience in my ZR2 so I am definitely biased
@migueljardim8177
@migueljardim8177 19 күн бұрын
@Andrew-hi2rj The Raptor has more travel in its suspension than the ZR2 and has internal bypass live valve shocks to absorb any impacts taken. It has a higher crawl ratio than the ZR2, making it slightly more controlled in low-speed allocations. It does have the same torque, ground clearance, and breakover angle as the ZR2, though. The underbody cameras of the ZR2 definitely help with rock crawling, that I will agree with. I was hoping Ford would put front wheel placement cameras on the left and right front ends. Overall, in fast-paced offroading, the Raptor has no equal in the segment. It becomes a more competitive battle in rock crawling where the two trucks trade blows with one another. Can't go wrong with either for sure, but personally, I'd have the Ranger Raptor. I don't have the money for either, though, so I hope you are enjoying your truck!😄

@@migueljardim8177 much respect with the quality of your replies. Everything you have stated is true. I guess my final point is that I got my truck with a steel drive shaft and underbody cameras and all the creature comforts like air conditioning seats and Bose speakers for 52K out the door. I was able to get employee discount since I work for Chevrolet and I understand the raptor is at least a few grand more. I feel extremely grateful that I can even be in this conversation and hope you get that ranger raptor one day. Will be fun to compare them on trail.

I hope that you let viewers know if/when you plan on selling. I don't usually like to buy used, but knowing the history of a vehicle would make me more likely to do so.

What a great car!!! You made me love it! How do you feel, is it capable to go through bitter mud, where you can't even stand with your own feet? ))))

If you can get one at MSRP, this truck is such a value buy. That said, as a Ranger Tremor owner, and not being able to pay cash, it is not worth it to upgrade with rates what they are. What the Ranger Raptor wont fix is my wife wanting a larger interior, if it had that, then maybe I could justify it. I know the Honda Ridgeline is not the same class of truck, but man they have the best interior of the mid-size.

I have a hard time attaching value to anything nowadays, considering 6 years ago an F150 Raptor was $55k...

@@TheNotimprezed The thing is, that $55,000 in 2018 had the same buying power as $70,000 today.... the dollar is going in the shitter, and our minds just haven't caught up to that inflation yet

I don't disagree with either of you. Inflation has been nuts.

@@chrismawson4430 yeah but they raised the price $10k before inflation even hit. My mind is caught up to it, I just refuse to pay that. I'm not changing my budget, I changed my spending.

Get a screen protector and get some horse hair interior brushes for the dust and dirt for your screens and gauge cluster. And any piano black. It will not scratch them but it will dust them off nicely. I us them all the time
