I mean it's pretty much clear cut. You can't legally own another person. The concept of soul is not accepted in legal proceedings. Contracts are only valid if they don't break the laws of the country the jurisdiction of which they are signed in. Any contract that breaks the laws is automatically considered null and void.

Why does everyone just chicken out and lose their minds? The entity can teleport you or warp space or something similar, which means you wouldn't have to slog back and forth when venturing out. The cabin is completely fire proof, which really saves on your insurance rates. Great view of the lake, nice forest around, likely good fishing and hunting. Sounds like a missed opportunity to me :D

Well no one has any idea what happens to them if the lady catches them. For all they know they could be enslaved for eternity or something. Also no matter how nice the cabin is as soon as it becomes a place that's impossible to leave it becomes a prison, I'm sure most people wouldn't be very content spending the rest of their lives isolated in the woods with a witch hunting them down every second.

The story reminds me of when I found a secret room in my childhood home. I was in the basement and I kneeled down to check and see if the furnace pilot was on when I noticed a small gap between the drywall and the floor near it. Given the dimensions of the hallway between the 2 rooms that it separated it's about 5'x8'. When I took a flashlight to try to peer through the opening under the drywall I noticed what looked like part of a roll of chicken wire. Before I could take a closer look I was interrupted by my mom asking if I wanted some food. Needless to say I accepted because who can say no to mom's cooking. That was 2 years ago. I completely forgot about that room until I heard this story. Kind of weird that I would forget about something like that. Now I HAVE to find out what's in there. I'm hoping it's nothing and I'm just nervous for no reason.

Bruv, you're ignoring blatant signs of "stay away"! If ever some older man told me that bad juju happens at the cabin I just bought, best believe my butt ain't staying. And, how could you not look over the books during the tour?? I'd be skimming over them all. I find myself yelling at the main character, lol. Story has sucked me in :)

Funny, if I was trapped in the cabin, I would have burnt the place to the ground and below - lots of nicely flammable material in them witchcraft books. Not sure if this would have helped, if I didn't find the altar, but I still would :D

The guy who wrote in the journal talking about not being able to get out of the house even when walking into the woods or across the lake, reminds me of Coraline when she tried to escape the other world by walking into the woods and still ended up coming back to the house.

I really like the twist good ending in this story. I was working while listening to this so I thought it was going to end with the suicide, but ending it with the mc winning is a nice twist. Also I bet I know what happens if you are caught by the witch lady. I bet you end up like that salesman and are trapped in a state where you're forced to bring in more souls for the lady

If the person who signed the contract couldn’t leave - car wouldn’t start, couldn’t run away - then how was the dude able to leave the first time to go home and get stuff to bring back? Either the contract bound you to the cabin or it doesn’t. How could he go for groceries? I hate when amateur writers don’t think about these details.

that is unforantely a theme that alot of these stories have. they are good if you shut off your brain but once you start picking up on the small details you start picking up key flaws in these stories. its a good thing they are free since i would not pay a single penny for them if these were locked behind a sub fee or compiled into a compilation of spooky stores and sold at your local bookstore for example lol
