Major respect for you wanting to maintain that excitement that comes with finding a record you've wanted in a store. Just last week I found a copy of Rio Grande Mud by ZZ Top. While that's not a rare record by any means, I had never seen a copy (first press or reissue) in any store. I wanted it just for "Just Got Paid" cuz it's such a great song. When I found it digging through some bins last week I was extremely excited and talked to the owner about how long I had been looking for it. There's no better feeling than finding something you've always wanted in a store!

Amazing! If I didn't live 10 hours away I'd be lining up before the shop opens on Saturday. There are some really jaw dropping albums in that collection. I don't think a lot of these will last very long. I really can't wait until I can get back to Charlotte. Hopefully late spring/early summer timeframe.

"kool & the gang" like so many others who sold out to make terrible disco (I love disco but not the pop/commercial end of it) are almost like 2 different bands to me. Pre 1976 ish they are an amazing funk band with mainly instrumental tracks, after 1976 ish they are, if I'm being kind, no longer an amazing funk band. I'm glad you talked about Gabor because a few shows ago you sort of glossed past one of his albums which made me wonder if you weren't aware of him, the song "Mizrab" off "The Sorcerer" LP is one of my favourite tunes of all time (And yes I have about a million all time favourites just like Dillon lol).

The Freddie Hubbard LP you flipped past so fast at 15:00 gave me a chill! The title tells me it's a jazz interpretation of the My Lai Massacre. Songmy was the name of the larger town itself--My Lai was a neighborhood village within Songmy. The names are sometimes used interchangeably in history books. Man, I bet that's one staggering, dark piece of music.

I have 3 copies of that Dylan Greatest Hits with the poster. One was my dad's, there's pictures of his place in the 60s with the poster on the wall. He's the kind of person that takes meticulous care of his stuff (I got the collecting gene honestly) and the poster was in the album, still in great shape, even though it was on his wall at one time. Another copy was in a box of records I won at an auction for maybe $20. With a good 50-75 records in there that means I only paid like 40 cents for it. The third copy, and the one I paid the most for, was only $3.99 at Half Price Books. Clearly they didn't know what they were doing! Such a cool poster. I got an original pressing of that Gil Scott last year from a local place here in Lexington, KY. I think it was about $40. Cheap considering what it is, but still a lot to pay for one record. But like you, that was one I'd been trying to find for ages, and I too like to discover the stuff, not just buy online.

Nicely done brother! That early James Brown you are keeping is fire! Not much to see here, just an OG press of A Love Supreme haha. Naturally there would be a Bert & Ernie record in there....it only makes sense haha. I'll have to check out that Chakachas Jungle Fever album. hi, love your videos, I do agree with you about preferring to wander into a record shop and buying from them direct, but when the shop you want to go into is on the other side of the world and due to the covid-19 coronacrap virus you cant leave your country (Australia) because all travel is banned, the net is the only way I can buy anything. however I do enjoy your videos (as well as frank's from channel33RPM) so keep them up. Do you have a website connected to your shop since it wont be until at least January '21 until we can fly out. Corona is a dirty word in my house. Anyway back to enjoying my 10k+ LP collection, in process of re-cataloguing them into alphabetical from ascending numbers. Enjoy the music....

The Rhetta is more Easy Listening than Funk/Soul, sought after but probably should not be, more a $5 than $50 vinyl. I never knew the Dylan had a poster (seen 100's over the yrs) about a year ago had a mint copy with poster did not know what to price it as, let it go for $15, maybe $20. Pieces of a Man, essential. His prices go up and down quite radically, or have done for 40yrs. Just don't buy anything after 74/75, it all went Pete Tong. Some hipsters still buy them though, no idea, or just collector types! The piano on the Wanda R is well worth checking out, her voice or the album as a whole, mixed bag! The Jihad Lp, woooooooo....about $200 maybe more if vg plus plus. Timepiece. Not a bad bunch, I'd have driven an hour or so and given him about 1k for them. Any half decent vinyl shop needs the OG's early 70's Mayfield, Wonder, Davis, Bohannon, GSH's in stock. Hot Buttered Soul $12? Are you sure it is not $2.? Malcolm X , he must have done a lot, I have a few but none of those. cheers

Wow! GSH Pieces of A Man. That’s actually a jazz album. I purchased my copy from Tower Records in 1978. It features jazz giants, McCoy Tyner and Ron Carter. I actually may have two copies. Didn’t realize how highly coveted it is. My copy looks and plays new. Hearing it from you makes me feel especially proud that I managed to hold on for so long. Great presentation. I’m gonna visit u one day just for the hell of it. Maybe I can search my collection for records that we might exchange?
