This was my other very best haul of the last 2 years ! I was thrifting, and this man said " Are you a record buyer?" He came to my work.. the very next morning , and I bought these for 60 cents each ! I keep them together and pull records from these wine boxes to spin.. Thanks !

It’s bittersweet sometimes seeing these kinds of videos of guys buying records that they don’t even know what they are. There is so much heat in there. Guys like myself have been looking for 20 plus years just to see guys come along now that vinyl is hip and find these stashes. Good for you. There’s more in those boxes than you know.

Thanks for checking this out, and yes.. There are stacks and stacks of bangers in this haul. I have enjoyed every single one of these records since I scored this amazing haul last year. I have been a fan of many of these bands since they broke in the 70's and 80's and have a varied taste in many genres.

I have been collecting records for over 50 years ( 1971 ). My cousins boyfriend used to manage Funkadelic, Parliament, and Rare Earth back in '76.. I've met tons of performers, and I'm a player as well.. I didn't mean to make you envious, I have a knack for finding good records inexpensiveley, and I do know what's in these boxes and love these bands/ artists✌️

Hi JT. A good job-lot from the chap who spoke to you at the thrift store. It will be fun to dip into the ones you don't know and maybe be pleasantly surprised ... The last LP I bought at a charity shop was by Rose Royce - the one with 'Love Don't Live Here Anymore' ... I'd be more than happy to have picked up the Bobbi Humphrey LPs, Captain Sky (for the cover), The Wild Angels soundtrack, the Byrds, Nils Lofgren, the Rufus LPs, Isaac Hayes, Harold Melvin and Weather Report.

It is fun to see all those records! Many of the R&B records remind me of the roller skating rink. I ❤ Daryl Hall and John Oates. The Michael Jackson, Off The Wall was one of my favorites when I was 10 years old. It is more sentimental than Thriller for some reason. Seeing him at age 21 on the cover is how I like to remember him.

I don't know where to start. What a haul; one for the books. There are so many great titles in those boxes. I bought the reissue of Fancy Dancer; it's a great album. I just can't believe the condition of those records. Change is a great band. Brother Rick is from Buffalo!! Nice copy of Off The Wall. Willie Hutch is an underrated player. Incredible Hancock titles. That's one of the few essential Bob James albums you need to own. 80's R&B flashback is in full effect! That's possibly my favorite Hall and Oats album. Great score and I loved the backstory!!

Great bunch of records. One of a real collectors favorite things to hear is "I've got a box of records that I want to get rid of", at least I love to hear that. Some great titles in there, nice Herbie Hancock and some great funk bands. MFSB (Mother Father Sister Brother) is a fun funk/jazz band that had quite an influential hit (pre-disco) called "The Sound of Philadelphia". They actually weren't a family but were a collection of several session musicians. I remember loving that song back in the day and have had a few of their albums which I really enjoyed back then. MFSB was the house and orchestration for Philadelphia International records in the 70's. It's an acronym that stands for Mother Father Sister Brother or at least that's the clean version of it. The dirty version also begins with mother. I went to Salvation army and found a similar cache and there wasn't a spot on any of it. Kashif wrote for Whitney, Melba, and Evelyn.

This is a genre that I have been away from for decades.. I love this music, and am having a party with all of it. Patrice Rushen has been awesome, and Angie ! Also Collage " Get In Touch". I don't like trading anymore.. my brick and mortar isn't such a good deal. At some point, I will sell, probably in a years time. I have room to store, I use bags unlimited archival boxes for Cd's, cassettes, and my records. So far, I am keeping doubles and a few triples.. I have gifted a number of records around the VC as well.

Is early Hall & Oates really considered "Funk/Soul"? I always considered their 80s stuff "Pop/Rock," but I have a couple of older albums of theirs on vinyl such as BIGGER THAN THE BOTH OF US, and I always kept it in "Oldies/Easy Listening."
@jtsrecordroom3963
@jtsrecordroom3963 3 ай бұрын
That was such a diverse haul. It's just a title to feature many of the LP's that are Soul / Funk. I agree that early Hall & Oates is pop songwriting. I think I paid 60 cents a piece on this haul.. 90 % of them are NM at least, and I have spun almost all of them since I brought these home. Thanks for watching this one..

@@jtsrecordroom3963 Thanks for getting back to me. So if I have some early H&O like Bigger Than the Both of Us, what section would you keep it in? I just don't think it belongs in "Pop/Rock/80s," but I'm not sure it goes in "Oldies/Easy Listening."

Because of both of their Philly sound roots.. Daryl and John are Soul R&B. Blue Eyed soul to be specific. Sure it's pop, but clearly Soul R&B. See what Wiki says about their genre, its always interesting. Thanks, nice chatting with you !

nice Bobby Humphrey, Hall and Oates, George Clinton pop goes the captain , Rick James Stone city band that's a good price 60 cents each for 160 records at 100.00 bucks if the records in your eyes are 3.5 stars or better that's a good deal Rose Royce is that the album that has car wash on it? nice Donna Summer nice Saturday Night Fever I like the R rated version better, I have that record on vinyl , the 2nd Commodres album that you flipped by I have that album it's my brothers old record, questions 1. do you think for today's time cassette tapes being sold at the Mall for anywhere from 13.99 to 19.99 is expensive tapes like Dirty dancin no big groups from the 80's I think there trying to sell a rap tape these look like newer albums other than Dirty Dancin in todays money do you think that's expensive? 2. Tavarse is that the same album that has heaven missing angel? 3. is that the same Lionel Ritchie that has his hits from MTV or a different album? 4. I forgot one question for the week watching anybody's videos have you seen anybody showing a favorite album feel free to list as many as you want? my answer in Roberts whats on my turn table's contest I saw jacob holiding Def Leppard Pyromania can't think of the other one.

Yes, that is the Tavares song. That Lionel Richie debut had a few hits, Truly is one of them. I think you mean cassettes sold nowadays in stores. .Yes, 14 to 20 dollars is too expensive when they can be found in thrift shops for 1.00 or less.. Even though it is older music. Lots of good ones out there second hand. Thanks, Mark !

@@jtsrecordroom3963 The name of the store is Newburry Comics they sell cassettes un opened sealed for 13.99 up to 19.99 you look at the cost of everything, everything is going up what a 100.00 dollars was say 5 to 10 years ago isn't the same yeah I think for those albums on cassettes it's expensive. considering theres a Barnes and Nobles in that same mall which sells cd's for about 11.99 and there are alot more cd players around than cassette players yeah I think for non classic 80's albums newer music other than Dirt dancin it's expensive. if it's a tape of say Ac/dc For those about to rock 14.99 and somebody has that album on vinyl, cd and they want all formats that's different. yeah that stores expensive but it's in a mall with things to do.
