I’m Alex Etches, a golf professional and golf KZfaqr. I play the model irons, carbon driver, model balls and staff putter. Wilson is making the best equipment, just read the reviews on everything they make under Staff brand. Carbon driver is an absolute beast

I'm Currently using a Ping JAS Anser WTi putter that's brand new, but probably closer to 20 years old, if that makes sense. If you remember Al, I told you in one of your retro review vidoes where you were using an ERC driver/wood that was banned by the USPGA, and I mentioned making those clubs. We also made the Ping Anser putters at the time, the JAS Anser I'm using had something like 480 machining processes, plus the sintering process to join the tungsten weights to the titanium head. That Wilson putter, while I don't like the hosel location or shape, the head itself looks so clean. Do wish the newer putters looked as clean as that.

I'm getting to the point that I'm bagging alot of W/S stuff all of a sudden. D7 Forged 4-p, Dynapower driver and now the Dynapower 5w. None of it because I'm a brand guy - quite the opposite. It's just their latest stuff all just produces results and saves abit of cash while at it. I'd game an 8802 in a heartbeat as well. Looks pure.

Great review! I have enjoyed the 8802 and the Odysey/Mickelson equivalent for years. I don't need much forgiveness with the putter. Distance control is easy. Alignment is easy. Feel is good. What else do you need? Excited that Wilson is making a milled version. Thank you for your review.

Started with a Bullseye in ‘73 and ws touched by the feel of an 8802 or better yet, the George Low/Bristol Wizard/Sportsman “L” putter. They made me too handsy so I went to Anser. 40 years later bought the new milled 8802. Much better feel and heft. Great putting during the romance period but again got handsy. I must have taken out over 50 types and brands over the years but for the past year I’m using my 40 or s year old Anser 4 with tons of well placed lead tape. But there’s some mystical affection for that L. Palmer, Snead, Bobby Jones and Locke, Casper and of course Nicklaus and others… their magic comes alive on a good day with my 8802.

The 8802 & Bullseye (or some such version) were what we all used pre-Anser. BUT they never made a milled 8802 ... excellent! p.s. I still have a Yonex Super A.D.X. Tour Forged graphite shafted putter from the 90s that is purr 🤘

I grew up using the Yonex. Should’ve never let it go. Currently use a Sink Golf custom blade. It’s beautiful. I think anyone who’s struggling with putting should spend time using a Napa style blade like this. No alignment aids. No MOI. No BS about ‘forgiveness’. You get real good at hitting the middle of the blade quickly. Squaring the face consistently doesn’t take long and then it’s all on your read and the speed.

It's so beautiful . I use a old Slazenger Bulls Eye today, have a Wilson mallet, but I don´t use it. But this Wilson, I have to try it out.

phil is the only pro i know still using the blade. I have a bettinardi bb2 with a copper insert that is mint, everyone needs at least one blade.

I gamed an Odyssey White #8 for 2 years. Look for and pick up one of those. Same head shape but white hot insert.

Feels the same as my anniversary edition. I also collect the Wilson line of these. No better feeling blade putter. They will teach you how to become a better putter. The new milled model feel better than the model from the 60’s

The classic 8802 milled? Sold! I have an older version. It's the best putter ever for me and it is not that hard to hit the middle. I mean good God you're so close to the head! A great classic putter.

Went for a putter fitting last week. First for me. Tried lots and didn't look at name brand or didn't know price. Kept narrowing down and I purchased the 8802. Wilson was not on my map at all. Now looking at the D9 forged irons. Go figure.

Love the 8802 style. I game a Sub 70 Sycamore 007. CNC MILLIED from 1045 carbon steel. For 159 dollars. Half the price of the Wilson. Love it

When it first came out the 8802 wasn't the Staff model, the 8813 was. Wilson must know their own history but the greater recognition by the public of the 8802 name guides their choice.

Hi AL. I bought the Wilson 8802 model a few years ago now. Very similar in looks. At first, I holed nearly everything, but as time went by, I lost confidence with it. Maybe I got a bit handsy with it. Do you think it would suit a bigger grip? I love the feel and its classic look. Looks great behind the ball. Have fun.

I had an old callaway faraday blade putter and had the same issue as yourself, particularly inside 3 feet. I shortened it to about 29-30 inches to take my hands out of the stoke. And I replaced with a big odyssey putter grip. Made a big difference

So many arguments to this 😂 1. Bruce Willis: “Die Hard is not a Christmas Movie”. Kinda kills all arguments. 2. Home Alone has a Christmas Soundtrack & branding 3. Remove the Christmas party from Die Hard and replace it with Easter - it’s now an “Easter movie”

I wouldn’t say Home Alone is a Christmas movie though, it’s just more of one than Die Hard as it features things in the “tick list” of a festive movie. Die Hard does not move beyond action; it does not employ Christmas themes or storylines. No festival dinner table scene Guns don’t belong in real Christmas movies. Can’t watch it with a young family - which Christmas is all about. The only person that wear a Santa hat is dead! Yeah, I’m not moving either! and neither is the cast. 😂
