Well done Andy! Great idea for a mobile ham shack also! More room in there than my radio room when I was in the Submarine Service !!!

Love your video's Andy. However, I have to say that one of the best things about portable radio operation is getting away from all the electrical noise generated by switch mode power supplies and LED lighting and other such modern gadgets, and you've filled your radio based trailer full of those things. The noise you're experiencing could be from that. It will be interesting to see how you get on when you go out portable with it properly.

Hi Andy. New to the channel and from Wisconsin USA. I just got started with my first used ebike and now plan on building one. I also am a technician class amature radio nut. I only own handhelds...but you are inspiring me to start building bikes and setting up some mobil rigs. Love what your doing on your channel. Hope to chat someday. Keep up the great videos!

Welcome to the channel Robb! Glad you like the content! Good luck with the ebikes and going mobile! Hope to catch you on the air one day👍🏻

@Robb... I'm a bit further south in Louisiana, have my Technician and GMRS licenses, but my interests have gone back to GMRS, FRS, MURS, CB. The cliquish amateur club scenes prevalent around here I can't do. I have more HTs than mobiles, as I've gotten into prepping and field/bushcraft over the past few years. Being "bush mobile" I have to be particular about the comms I carry. Be able to do the most with the least number of radios (Transceivers and Receivers), and keep them up and running with power banks, batteries, and am looking at solar. I'm looking seriously at the new civilian versions of the PRC-152 specifically the Aluminum cased Triumph Instrument 152, and the Poly Baofeng version. Comms that I can charge with a mini USB, or that have an optional alkaline battery pack get my top consideration. Regards !

@baronedipiemonte39902 жыл бұрын
That's a good concept that turned out great ! That would be perfect for the UK RayNet. But you can't just stop with CB, LoL. You've got to construct some "slide-in slide-out" racks with quick mount/dismount brackets - (you aren't going to want to leave radios in there when you aren't operating). Maybe some velcro on the desk for Portable radio drop in chargers, a 12 volt fan, and even a sleeping bag... Anyway, it came out great !

Great place to take your trailer would be Box Hill in Surrey, which is on the North Downs or Surrey Hills as some people call it. From up there looking north you get line of sight all over London. Looking south you get line of sight virtually right down in to Sussex.

I was thinking that . Solar kills UK CB
@andykirby2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm wondering if that's because terrestrial solar is grid tied and there's all sorts of crap going on to sync it with the AC sinusidal mains. In this xasebits just charging batteries so maybe that's better... i don't know...

@@andykirby Dunno I have solar for my Shack but just the panels and charge controller, I think the inverters are the evil bit lol :)
@slidewaze2 жыл бұрын
@@andykirby You may need to run off the battery only with all other electrics off to see if your noise isn't local. Inverters and charge controllers can be a bear.. Looking forward to seeing you out and about in the mobile shack!
