I'm thinking of starting my own clothing apparel, and man is this humbling. Even after studying economy, and budgeting, and think of strategies, it's still humbling to know the kind of work you need to put in to make this happen. The time it took for you to reach or goal baffles me I applaud you for your work and dedication!

Honestly, with the sub count you have and the average view count on your videos, you could easily lean more into the YT content creation side of things and supplement your income quite a bit with ad revenue, all while marketing your brand. Relying on just sales is scary - diversifying your income streams is the way to go. Loving the content - helps me get in the mood to keep working on my own stuff. From one small business owner to another - keep it up!

This literally brought tears to my eyes. It’s so hard as an entrepreneur trying to make it, wanting to GIVE UP because you’re not getting the views, followers or sales that you imagine. You put so much hard work in behind the scenes that ppl do not see to produce quality products. So many times I wanted to throw in the towel but this little voice in my head keep telling me “DON’T YOU DARE” no matter the struggle I continue to forage ahead. This is my DREAM. MY PASSION and my LOVE of creating. I know that my time will be my time so I remain patient, humble and hopeful, your story has INSPIRED me so much that I’ve watched your video FIVE times. I’m PROUD of you for not giving up and hanging in there. I wish you continued SUCCESS with your business. I absolutely LOVE everything about it. Thanks for sharing your journey. Kind of goes without saying (you'd think), but it is NEVER EASY. People making videos skip all the parts where they were broke and struggled to get things going. They just go straight to "here's my established process now." You're right to recognize that this is pretty much dishonest and misleading. Unless you're born into a family with money and physical space, starting a business is a grueling grind (mentally, financially, and physically). Many of us are working a full-time job in addition to our small operations. It's exhausting. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. I think what's most important (from my experience) is keeping it simple at the start and resisting the tendency to think about too many things. Take small steps each week to build off of. Keep telling yourself that you won't build a corporate empire overnight (no one has--ever). It takes time, sweat, and sometimes tears. Keep it simple, stick it through, and focus on what people and the planet actually want! You can do this!!!!

I’m going through this current moment where I want to get my kids clothing business off of the ground on a full time job. Not enough hours in the day, being tired on my days off or the few hours I get when I get home. I even tried trademarking my name, experienced it being denied to now I’m just hoping this time around it’s approved. At moments I wonder if it’s even worth it, but I know I want to be my own boss

This is mostly why most small businesses fail in the first 2 years. People try to do too much, get overwhelmed, and don't see it through if they hit failures. Just gotta remember to keep it simple, and we WILL fail here and there (just part of the process). People like this person succeed because they just shrug it off and find a better way to move forward.

@THE LIFE OF MOBO The moment they congratulate, etc. is the moment you stop trying for better. That's often the mindset. Being over critical, amongst other characteristics lead them to be our bane and maybe even our rival. No one improves without a rivalry. The movie Joy Luck Club spells out a lot about Asian Mom's. I'm sure the book does the same, but I haven't read it yet.
@jasonfrost5025
@jasonfrost5025 9 ай бұрын
@@MickeyInSD Doesn't mean it's healthy or even appropriate. I get that cultures have different expectations, and especially among many 1st generation immigrant parents who sacrifice their lives for their kids. That said, just being a loving parent can be significantly more beneficial and motivating. I haven't had any 2nd generation Asian American friends who appreciated their parents. They almost all resented them pretty deeply. Not all of them were materially successful either, so it's not like this perfect formula for success or progress. Sometimes just being kind and supportive will propel a kid (or person) into greater heights than being cold and calculated.
@Mickey_De
@Mickey_De 9 ай бұрын
@@jasonfrost5025 I agree. I think that all of us are limited to what we know, this includes our knowledge of how to be with our children. Some of us as humans learn to be different in our version of what we believe is better and we're lucky enough to be successful in the execution but most of us fail to be as nurturing, supportive, kind, etc. as we want to be. I think of @ernestomobojr's comment. Maybe their parents did not want to influence their child in anyway good or bad so that they can truly be their own authentic person. Maybe they didn't know any better. Maybe seeing their child in something like car racing or even be an athlete that could get hurt is terrifying. I remember that my Mom told me you should never bring a dish or drinks to a party as it says to the host that they are not good enough to throw a proper party without guest contributing. In the American culture you never go to a party empty handed because then you are not showing your appreciation to be part and contribute in a real way to the experience. This was eye opening as I cannot say either culture has the right or wrong idea. Now I can't say it didn't hurt when my parents were absent for my achievements, but I'm not sure if they knew any better. Also back then I was too considerate of their time to ask them to be there for me and too guarded and afraid to tell them what I was doing was important and I needed them to be there. I didn't know how to ask for so much, I just thought my parents should know that they should be there for me at games or whatever. But how could they? How could they know that something is special to me and I want them to experience my high when I succeed and to be there to console me when I fail? I understand that even with telling them, however, they still may not show for any number of reasons that have actually little to do with me and my feelings or everything to do with my feelings. Well thank you to anyone that read this novel. It helped me get my own perspective.

I think KZfaq is a great way to expand your business. Keep making these longer videos - they stick in our heads longer than a 15 second video that gets buried under the 50 other fifteen second videos i watch. Another thing, for me as a customer, is i forget the launch date. Blast that launch date everywhere!!! It should be the first thing i see, last thing i witness as i click off the video, bolded and threateningly looming over me as i read the description. I forget shit, i dont always remember that my shop is launching their new merch. Make me remember it!

I empathize with you. I did the same 2 decades ago even before social media and at the beginning of selling online. The most important lesson I learned from it all is to take care of my health and put aside money (I can't touch) regularly no matter how small. In the end if everything fails, you've got your health and retirement money left. You can always do something else. You are giving it your best shot. That's all we can do in life. I know a manager of a store, and they take vacations during slow times. You could rest or prep. Whatever you need to do. Keeping record of it is a great idea so you can see if there is a pattern every year. The holidays are coming and I am sure this is just the calm before the storm. ❤️

Wow! Thanks for sharing your story! I went through this as an artist but quit.. I invested 3k on a credit card and I don’t think I even made 1k back. I decided to take a hiatus and honestly it was for the best. I think I finally found my art style and it’s no longer about money or attention. It’s about making things I like or don’t like and sharing it in hopes it can help someone else or make their day!! Keep going, it’ll work out ❤

Ugghh! My heart...This was such a beautiful journey and so inspiring! Thank you for sharing the real BTS of building a business. Thank you for not leaving out the "failures" or I like to call them learning opportunities. Thank you for not having "perfect" content all the time. I really appreciate seeing the hard work, long days and nights, pure will and determination you put into your brand and business. I'm so glad this video showed up on my feed. Your brand is so gorgeous! You are doing absolutely amazing, don't forget that! 1.5M views isn't half bad either! You definitely have a new subscriber! 💛😸

This is by far one of the most beautiful stories of the struggles small business owners and Start ups go through. Nobody sees or knows what really happens behind the scenes. The sacrifices, disappointments and personal struggles we go through to make end products beautiful. Thank you for putting this together. Keep pushing girl! Goodluck! Love to your mum & dog, as they are truly giving a helping hand. The smiles from your dog means a lot! ❤❤❤

I have to admit, IG is failing me tremendously. It was going really well a few months ago because for the first time ever I opened up to doing reels (I loved posting images back in the day and didn't want to adapt 😅) and now some of my reels don't reach at all, even to my current followers, which is soul crushing. As you say though, you can't give up, we learn and we keep trying. I feel it, I really do. Also can't wait for you to open up to more countries. Much love, you are doing great 💖😁

omg I am currently having the same issue!! My reels were doing very well finally for the first month, until randomly all of a sudden the views drop down to 200 & no likes! On all platforms at the same time lol :( it's extremely tiring for sure but I keep telling myself to keep pushing forward & don't give up

Considering the prevalence of fast fashion, clothing is such a tricky space to be in. What's in today won't be in tomorrow, so you either have to make timeless basics, high end one-of-a-kinds, or keep reinventing your brand to keep up with trends.

Unsolicited advice, I know: It sounds a bit counterintuitive, but try not to do too many things at once. It's so easy to just get overwhelmed by thinking you have to do a thousand different things (we don't!). Just focus on baby steps and what works one at a time. I often find myself in this constant cycle of making progress but then being blasted by self-doubt, thinking I have to do all these major things and that I'll never make it when I compare myself to bigger brands. I just take a breath and tell myself that I'm not even there yet; worry about what matters most right now for my brand and customers. The rest will come later.

Good luck! I love your shop and have made 2 purchases. I think people would love to see more personal content about you! How you design the art, styling your items, etc. Also some things that may help: collab with other makers online, reduce prices, find a way to have the shop open longer, become more eco friendly with organic cotton... you have so many options and such a cute shop that is unlike any others. You got this! Life won't always be so hard.

Epic story. Well done. Zero talking in front of the camera. Had to pause and rewind and fast forward to read it all (I’m OCD like that). I’ve been selling my own clothing brands for over 10 years (Low Label). Doing things completely different than you in most ways. People ask me how I run my biz. I tell them how, but I also say there are a million ways to do it. This gave me some new ideas. And don’t worry, even after having success I still freak out and have anxiety during every launch, sale, Black Friday, pre-order, and vendor booth at events. It’s all an experiment, just focus on one day at a time and try to plan as best as you can for the future. Keep learning, stay humble, and find a way to laugh more and have fun. Sometimes I think I should get a regular job, and then I remember how far I’ve came on my own. From one biz person to another, keep doing your thing! 🙌🏼
