Tal, I have been watching you for years, and I have to say, when you are in Israel you are the most comfortable and free. The sense of belonging with the same mindset as the people around you gives you protection. I understood this video really well and thanks for releasing your inner the thoughts of why you came back.😊

I watched this video on my lunch hour. I then met a client who I hadn’t seen since October 7. She’s an Orthodox Jew in the USA and said she recently visited her son in Israel in Jerusalem. She wanted to show everyone that she wasn’t scared. I rewatched this with her and she did say she was afraid of going up north. I hope you stay safe Tal.

Thanks Tal for your video. Many of us are feeling that guilt, specially those in the diaspora. Things in the US are crazy and not sure how this will evolve. I have the same feeling as when 9/11 happened, this event will change the course of history specially for jews inside and outside Israel. The only silver lining is the fact that jews reacted by building more community and bonds, no matter if you are religious or not. I see this everyday. "Jews, a nation that dwells alone". Thats how I feel right now, and maybe is both our curse but also our blessing as People. Shalom from NY.

I’m not religious but Israel seems like a society that I could live in and be part of. People of different backgrounds trying to get along together in that they all appreciate Israel as a country and culture, and they are ready to defend it together. That is different from my own country that has avoided wars, is very individualistic in the wrong way, and would not easily deal with such a crisis as you have gone through.

This video popped up in my feed. I've never seen a video by you, but when I read the title I wondered if it was going to be something negative from a nonJew. I watched it to the end, and it was how i have been feeling since Oct 7. I'm Jewish, have lived in Israel but it was long before you were born. Did Ulpan, always expected to come back but it never seemed to happen. I've felt helpless and while i dont see much antisemtisim where I live, its the hidden hate that makes me wonder about life here. I've subscribed because I'm eager to see Israel again through your videos.

I am not Israeli. My husband is a non practicing Canadian Jew. I was raised Roman Catholic. We visited his family in 2010. I fell in love with Israel and its people. Everything you say is spot on with how I personally feel. Oct 7th changed me immensely. We both feel that we would rather be there with Israel than here. If we could afford to go back now we would. My husband said he would even join the IDF to fight if he didn't wasn't a police office here.

Being a supportive Jew from abroad in the USA, I understand somewhat what your experiencing from a different perspective. The fact that America is experiencing Anti-semitism in our Universities and cities is felt if you live in one of those cities and even having to witness the demonstrations via the media. It keeps me more aware of my surroundings and keeps me from wanting to venture further from home due to the hostilities within my own country. I realize nothing can compare to what occured on Oct 7th, the hostages and the endless death of soldiers and citizens. Being connected to the worldwide Jewish community, via birth, knowing Jewish people have been persecuted throughout our history. This is the reason my grandparents came to America from Europe, due to the pogroms in Russia/Poland. Unfortunately once again that ugly monster has arisen from the ashes and threatened the state of Israel..

Tal, thank you so much for being so honest and real and explaining how it is to be a Jew in this world. I'm from Croatia, my late granma had a maiden name Pensa, which, according to some of my findings, could be connected to Sephardic Jews who fled Portugal and Spain and looked for the refuge across Europe. I never looked too much into it, because she was devoted Christian. But I was always drawn to Jewish question and travails since I was a kid, that I strongly feel there must be something Jewish in me. Since the 7th of October I can't stop being immersed in everything that you are going through and feeling such a strong need to defend you and fight for justice. My next big quest is to find through my city archives the provenience of my granma and if it happen that I find out she was Jewish, I don't have words to explain to you how it would make me feel. Proud, strong, thankful. I send you and your people my love, positive enetgy and strenght to fight for the truth, for life! ❤🇮🇱

Thank you for creating this and other videos educating the masses that have no clue of even where Israel is on the map. My family also were refugees from Iraq that made Aliyah in 1949 and lost everything. They were not allowed to even bring family photos with them. I too am an American Israeli dual citizen and I feel EXACTLY the way you have described since October 7th. I have always felt a connection to Israel but now I truly feel that Jews in the world are not safe. This is the very reason for the existence of the state of Israel and why it is so important for Israel to be strong and united. Am Israel Chai!

I'm a displaced NY born and bred Jew living in a sea of Trumpers, MAGA/Qanon cultists and white supremacists. Anyway, I'm near Lake Michigan, far from the dangers of Dearborn. But Kalamazoo isn't any safer. With three major colleges and a University, being a Jew around here is now a dangerous thing.

12:47 This is the point that people ( including myself before October 7th) don't seem to understand about the conflict. It's not a territorial dispute and a two-state solution is not going to end the violence, but will instead do the exact opposite. I'm not against a Palestinian state under the 1967 borders, but I question why the world acts like we owe the Palestinians the land, especially since the West Bank is Israeli territory under international law, let alone the fact that our hospitality throughout the years has only been greeted with terror attacks. And then we get blamed for committing genocide, when our soldiers are doing everything to minimize civilian casualties. I as an Israeli can assure that the streets of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa would be crowded with protests if the IDF was carpet bombing the Gaza Strip. This is a war between Israel and Hamas, not the Gazan civilians.

Based on Zohar Shemot 32A: [R. Hiyya then says] Woe is to the time that Ishmael was born into the world and was circumcised. What did G‑d do [to appease Ishmael]? He distanced the children of Ishmael from supernal cleaving and gave them [only] a portion below in the Holy Land on account of their circumcision. And in the future, the children of Ishmael are destined to rule over the Holy Land for a long time when it is empty from anything, like their circumcision which is empty and imperfect. And they will prevent the children of Israel from returning to their place until the reward for the merit of the children of Ishmael reaches completion. The children of Ishmael [i.e. the Arab nations] will cause great wars in the world and the children of Edom will gather against them and wage war against them, one on the sea, one on the dry land, and one near Jerusalem. And they [the children of Edom] will rule over them [the children of Ishmael], but the Holy Land will not be given over to the children of Edom. [The children of Edom is the Christian West, for Edom is Rome (see Num. 24:19, Rashi) and Rome signifies Greece-Rome and the Roman Catholic Church, the foundations of Western Civilization]

can't you say the Palestinians have been feeling othered for a long time too. a Palestinian boy was murdered and 3 young men where shot in the United States for being Palestinian after October 7. It is not antisemitic to be critical of Israels policies. It is something that needs to be brought to light and it is not a support of Hamas actions but to feel there hasn't been a frustration or resentment in Palestinian society for how they have been treated by the Israelis or not feel free in the land they live on will only foster greater resentment.

This makes the jews less safe? and viewed by the world as oppressors (at least the Israeli ones)?

However, do you realise that Jews lost their homes all over the world, and that's why they ended up as refugees in Israel? What part of the Palestinian people have been severely, psychopathically abused by their leaders in order to weaponise them against the Jewish people don't you understand? Seriously. Understand the entire picture, the entire history, the disgusting way Palestinian children have been radicalised to extreme hatred against Jews- so that the hatred never ends and peace seems impossible - not just the Palestinian propaganda.

How the Jews actually acquired the land how they were kicked out of every Arab country. I’m not Jewish or Israeli so no vested interest, just not everything is as MSM presents.

The world would be in chaos if everybody play by the same rule, or perhaps only the Jews is allowed to play by this rule. Anyhow, I don't think that is true. Majority of the 'Jews' who are now in Israel are not even Jews, they are European-descent without Jewish blood, they are Ashkenazi Jews whose lineage cannot be traced back to the Holy Land. In fact, the Palestinians have more semitic origin compared to those imposters. There is a reason why DNA test is not allowed in Israel. Anyway, whetever the case is, it still does not give them the right to oppress and dehumanize another group of human being for 75 years, that is just inhumane. We can have multiple thoughts at once - that the people of Israel are misunderstood and largely innocent and the solution should not be to ethnically cleanse them from their country; that the government of Israel is oppressing Palestinians through military occupation, human rights violations, ethnic cleansing, and, yes, arguably genocide; that this situation has made a lot of anti-Semitism spring up and overall tribalistic and reactionary political sentiments towards Israelis and jews and towards Palestinians and Muslims; and that Palestinians should have self-determination through a state of a sort. There is a cycle of violence obviously and there is indeed extremism, but this is because of the conditions of systemic violence towards Palestinians created by the state of Israel. Israel holds all the power in this situation. And I understand Israelis fearing for their safety and their lives, but people need to understand that the state of Israel abuses its power over Palestinians. The military occupation and bombardment of Gaza needs to end. I believe Israelis and Palestinians can coexist, but the system needs to change. It's because of the extreme inequality and Israel having their foot on the Palestinian territories' neck for decades that this situation exists. It's a policy born out of fear. The cycle will only perpetuate and escalate in these conditions. I have enjoyed your videos and learning more about Israeli cultures and ways of life, but I hope you reflect on your own bias. I don't blame you for having one as everyone does, but I think it's the brave person who puts themselves in the other person's shoes. I think your perspective is an important one and I don't wish for it to be erased. I just think there is a bigger picture to be seen that people miss out on from being firmly rooted in their tribes.

@@melbgrk6725 I'm glad you agree! You are so right about the situation breeding hate. I like Tal and his videos and I'm absolutely ok with him representing his perspective as an Israeli Jew as I think the human perspective and empathy for Israelis is an important part of fully understanding this conflict. However, it's important to recognize your country's hand in maintaining and perpetuating this conflict. People are not their government. I understand wanting to fight for your people, but the war is heavily one-sided and has always been. This is not to erase losses on the Israeli side. I believe it is a conflict that affects both people. But there is a root of the problem and it is the fascist policies of the right-wing government in Israel. The Palestinians as a whole cannot bootstrap their way out of it if the system inherently keeps them down and pushes them to retaliate. Palestinians having more freedom and self-determination and autonomy does not equal free reign for terrorism. In fact, it would be the opposite. A people without hope will be pushed to extreme actions and violence. But a people with hope to grow and better their lives will choose the option that allows them to do so. Why attack Israel when you can move freely into Israel or to the rest of Palestine? In order for there to be a safe Israel, there must be a free Palestine. Or this will just keep happening and get worse and worse.

“It’s almost imposssible to explain to people what it’s like, to always feeling under threat”. Try being a Palestinian at the mercy of YOUR military. Just try. Also, your explanation of guilt somehow explains why Americans and others are so very quick to defend IL without also looking at what it is doing wrong. Is that fair though? Your video only shows IL proper. Nothing about the illegal settlements in the West Bank, the violence perpetrated on the Arabs there. And so it rings very hollow to point to where it works (see, it’s finnneee, everybody get along greattt!) and ignore the giant pink elephant in the room. When you recorded this, Hind Rajab had been dead for 2 months. The IDF never owned up to her or her family’s death. You guys didn’t expect it all to be recorded on the Red Crescent call, did you? You show how close the West Bank is, so you should also KNOW what goes on there. That discomfort you are feeling, you should definitely feel it. Much as the actions of Hmas on 7/10 was terrible, so are the current and on-going actions of the IL government. But while the former is talked about ad nauseum, the latter cannot be mentioned without being labelled anti-semitic. Why the double standard? You go on and on about the hostages taken on 7/10, but can you also acknowledge the thousands have been kept in Administrative Detention in the West Bank, before and after 7/10, kept without charge. Are those not hostages too? So that at any given point IL always has more Arabs lives to barter with. Can we talk about that?

This is not about revenge, this is about the survival of a people, who are not welcome or feel safe anywhere but in their homeland, yet they can not even live their in peace. They returned to their homeland to seek shelter from this exact hatred that is being cast upon them right now. For thousands or years these people have been murdered, treated like animals, had less rights than others, exiled and been under constant attack from Palestinians and other Arab nations since their return to Israel. What other country in the world is it compulsory to have a bomb shelter in your home, school, work place and in public places? What other country has had so many rockets fired into civilian areas that they had to build an iron dome to protect its people? What other country has a serious treat of suicide bombers/terror attacks everyday ? What other country has a treat of war on all of it borders? Israel has no choice and you have heard it yourself when the leaders of Hamas stated not only in the doctrine, but to the world that they will not give up until they repeat Oct 7 again and again until Israel is free of Jews and Israelis and the land of Israel is once again in the hands of Palestinians. The enemy are extremists who will stop at nothing. Israel is not only doing this to ensure it retains its culture, religion and safety of its people, but they are doing this also to free the Palestinians from a group of terrorists who are brainwashing its own people, stealing off them and keeping their own people under their control and teaching them hatred. There is no chance at peace if something serious isn’t done and thus was the final straw for Israel. No more. I know that if my home and family where only kilometres away with a fence that can be penetrated and rickets fired over it, and an enemy that is capable of horrific and grotesque attacks on people of all ages, I would not want my children to live with the treat of October 7 ever happening again.
