I'm no United fan, but I'm sure it's not Ten Haag's fault that Rashford refuses to run back to help his team, and Bruno Fernandez is so busy complaining to his teammates and the ref that he goes missing every time things get tough. If he leaves them out and they lose, he gets slammed by the fans. Not to mention Martial is his backup striker and Maguire is his CB. I'm sure that's his fault too. You can't do anything with players who refuse to work hard and aren't interested in being humble. Plenty of ability, but wrong characters to want in a dressing room. United need to clear out that dressing room.

Ole struggled to implement a clear style, Jose's team was always described as not a typical Jose team. Rangnik struggled to implement anything. At a certain point we need to point the finger at the players because it's been the same group. The same group pulled together by Ed Woodward, not fit for purpose, disjointed, and ultimately not good enough. Pull the thread and see where it gets you. I'm glad there's an overhaul above ten Hag now, he should be given time with the new structures, no matter who comes in now would struggle anyway so the first message that would be great would be that the players will not outlast the manager and be allowed to repeat this cycle. Then if we need a new manager we can have someone come into a club with an actual direction for once. Currently this team will bury any manager

Klopp had no full seasons outside the top 4. Arteta had his first full season outside the top 4 and then made noticeable inclines the more players he recruited. There was also a correlation between both these managers recruitments and the identity of football their sides began to show. Ten hag seems to make no inclines in his teams identity in spite of more recruitment at this stage than the aforementioned managers, which is why they are having this discussion.

Literally no improvement in league positions with no European football and abundant inconsistent displays were prevalent. Key difference is he was allowed to have a clearout with the likes of Aubameyang unlike United. Sky pundits don't have the balls to call out the likes of Rashford and Maguire for their inconsistencies instead weigh up pressure on the coach. Arsenal coach never had the pressure as Ten hag with change in ownership, Ronaldo situation, insane injury list, Greenwood story. @chammo-dz5br the inclines were clear to see with Arteta, it wasn't about league position, it was the adaptation in how he developed the way the team was playing. He progressed from the back 5 which helped him win the FA Cup because it gave them a defensive base to counter, and eventually moulded it towards this system step by step. Towards the middle to end of his first full season where they came 8th, he had introduced guys like Smith Rowe and started to be a bit more expansive. You could always have a blueprint of what he was doing stage by stage, whether the results came or they didn't. Also there was constant media content on Artetas sacking every Arsenal loss, you must've forgotten.

Real problem is I can't see a solution for it in our squad. Right now Mainoo seems to be the only one really making himself undropable. Maybe if we get a more mobile 6 we could fit Mainoo and Bruno with him. @@Brendan_M_ we are basing our entire system on Bruno who is playing as a number 10 which is a nonsense position. It just takes up the space all the midfielders and attackers are meant to move into. It stops creativity and movement from the entire team, focusing it too much around one player. Bruno loses the ball so much as well so that makes the issue a double issue. We’ve played 4231 ever since Fergie retired and we’ve got nowhere. Mount would have more chance playing in a 433 but we needed to sign a box to box midfielder last summer and they chose Mount who is an average player at best. it's kind of ridiculous to appoint another new manager. Gary was spot on, we don't have a style, but funnily enough, a playing style is reliant on the ability of the players to play within that style or system. With the old players we still have and the amount of injuries we have on the players who can play that system, it's pretty obvious why things have been inconsistent. It can be difficult for people to adjust to changes in their lives, and sometimes they might forget important aspects of their past. It seems that Gary may have lost touch with his identity as a Manchester United player since transitioning to a career in media with Sky Sports. The primary concern lies with the lackadaisical demeanour of certain players. Ten Hag successfully led a squad of industrious individuals who fully embraced both his distinctive playing style and philosophical approach. Contrastingly, observe players such as Casemiro and Rashford casually navigating the field. Upon the conclusion of matches, some of them exhibit minimal signs of exertion, hardly breaking a sweat or showing any signs of breathlessness. In stark contrast, examine the Ajax players under Ten Hag's guidance, and the difference is unmistakable.

The problem isn’t the manager OR the players. It’s what’s going on with the owners, the board, recruitment etc. There’s no cohesion, which gave ETH a lot of problems when trying to sign players, resulting in last minute over spending. The manager can’t do their job properly until one hand knows what the other is doing. I’m hoping with Ratcliffe and hopefully Dan Ashworth coming over we might see some improvement.

There's a decent starting 11 when everyone is fit, but it only takes 2 injuries and it's the same old crap like the last 5 years. Yeah I agree, and obviously these comment and debate shows love to divert straight to the banter when a team like Man U, Chelsea or Arsenal lose, but you're spot on about that Man U team. They have a goalkeeper who has been poor a lot of the time, if he was average then they'd be doing better. They haven't really had the left side of their defence for long periods of the season. Casemiro has had injuries, Mainoo was injured at the start of the season, and the replacements for those 2 are poor. McTominay is a terrible midfielder, he can score the odd goal, but on the ball, passing and pressing, he's poor. Again if he were average the team would be better. They have seen poor performances from Rashford and Antony. Rashford in particular just doesn't put the effort in sometimes. Again if his performances were average rather than poor, they'd be doing better. Their main striker has only just started scoring, but again he was injured at the start of the season and again now. My point to all of this is.... Klopp had a poor season when his main player was out and they had a few injuries. With this squad and injuries, I don't think Klopp or Pep would be getting better results, so I agree with your comment.

Look at De Gea, he was shaky in that first season and then turned into one of the best goalies over a 2/3 year period. Onana has been poor (I think) because of individual mistakes, but also ball distribution. He repeatedly kicks the ball out of play and apologises for it. I think he's been poor on the ball too, which looks to be causing worry in the defence in terms of the defenders not trusting him as much. I do wish Onana nothing but the best though. United have been far too much in the habit of a manager gets 2 full years max to make an impact and if they don't pull up trees then they just get sacked. Ole and Jose did they best they could with what they had and how they were backed. Ole got the job based on short term form and lost it for the same reason. Jose did a bit better before that with trophies and finishing closer to city with points totals but you could see that they didn't back him with signing for the 3rd season and the motivation went. Unless in the summer they have a target in mind who will definitely build on what TenHag has tried to do and with the right signings to improve and become a Top 3 team with a chance of challenging for the title there is no point sacking ETH, he's basically had about 20 percent of the season where he's been able to have a proper match day squad to choose from and so many times just as it looks like changing someone gets injured and messed it up meaning players thrown in or a lesser result do to patchwork first 11. Same here with Shaw and Rasmus not being players that you can just replace and expect the same level of performance the next game. City, Arsenal and Pool have not had the same amount of injuries and changes at crucial times which is why they get results consistently in the top 3.
